Pros: Mattress with a rather firm feel - no problem fitting regular queen-sized sheets Cons: The right firmness for me was too firm for my wife
My daughter really wanted a queen-sized bed for some time. My wife gave in to her wishes and crowned her princess by giving her our relatively new Simmons Beautyrest "Royalty" Mattress. We have owned this Simmons Beautyrest Mattress for...
Pros: Looked good; pocketed coil construction; solid edge support Cons: Only lasted less than 10 years
Two weeks ago, my son who is 20, joined the Air Force and I began to clean out his room. As I was cleaning, memories flooded my mind of his child hood and I remembered when we sold his Captain's bed with the drawers underneath and bought him his...
Pros: Extra edge support, no squeaky springs or coils Cons: Middle of mattress began to sink after about a year

I purchased the Simmons Beautyrest Mattress approximately two years ago. I was on the hunt for a queen size mattress that was affordable, I was on a strict budget. I shopped everywhere, and was just about set on buying a $100 set from some guy...
For the past 8 years I'd been sleeping on a Kingsdown Pillowtop mattress and my back has been getting progressively worse over the years. Much too soft for my taste. With a bad lower back and weak stomach muscles I need a firm mattress.
Pros: Wonderful, history of company, great buy for the money Cons: heavy, hard to turn every few months
Snore snore uh huh? Oh, you woke me up from a restful nap. This is something that has been hard to come by for a long time. Well, I suppose that I can share with you the reason for my peaceful slumber.
Pros: Looks and feels great...in the beginning. Cons: Expensive and "failed" quickly after purchase.
Several years ago my husband and I decided to invest in a quality mattress set. Our search led us to the Simmon's beautyrest mattress. We were especially interested in the individual pocketed coils. This allowed one sleeper to toss or roll while the...
Pros: Well-constructed, durable, and very comfortable Cons: Relatively more expensive than most brands
Two of the most effortless things you can do to pamper your body is 1) wear good shoes and 2) sleep on a quality mattress. After many years of sleeping on no-name brands or hand-me-down mattresses, I decided last year that it was time to indulge myself...

Our story begins with a happy newlywed couple ... We...
Pros: New ones do not need turning (this has to be proven to me) Cons: Springs pop out, not enough padding in some models
Our first mattress was a BeautyRest. We paid a lot for it, although I do not remember the amount now. We fell for the hype about the single cell springs but I did not think it stilled the motion as much as they claimed. Because there is padding and...

Pros: None Cons: very uncomfortable after a SHORT time!

However, after a short time - only a few months - I began to find this mattress very uncomfortable. After a couple years (I must be a...
Pros: Firm, yet soft. If that makes any sense. Cons: None!

Pros: Feels great for the first month Cons: Already sags in the middle after 1.5 years!
We bought the Simmons with the euro plush pillowtop. The first month owning this mattress was heaven! Then I found out I was pregnant... After that, I started tossing and turning and not sleeping as well. I also couldn't sleep on my stomach like ...
Working on the basic premise that the best support in a coil spring bed comes from the quality and count of the coils, it would seem logical that the Simmons beautyrest line of mattresses are a poor long term investment. The bed is marketed as a bed...
Pros: most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! Cons: none, I got my money's worth!
I have been sleeping on this mattress for about a year now and I can't say enough good things about it, it is so comfortable. It's a nice firm bed, yet not an uncomfortable kind of firm because it has a thick layer of soft padding that's on the top of...
Pros: None - Simmons does not make a quality product. Cons: Beautyrest breaks down quickly and is a saggy, lumpy, squeeky piece of junk.
We purchased a top of the line Beautyrest pillowtop King mattress in October 2007 (at $2800) to replace a top of the line Aireloom King mattress purchased in 2004 (at $3300). The Beautyrest salesman listened to our tale of woe on how the Aireloom sagged, ...
Pros: They do seem to stop movement in the bed. Cons: Large craters develop within a few weeks. Very uncomfortable and bad on back.
This is probably the worst bed I have evder slept in!!! Be ware you will have sunken craters in your bed within a few weeks of owning this bed. I have read many reviews with this same issue. Wish I would have read them before I bought the ...

Pros: available in Cal King Cons: Can't get rid of the hump
I liked the idea that when my husband rolled over, I wouldn't ride the wave. We purchased a king size Beautyrest about two years ago. I didn't buy the one with the soft pad on top. Merchant who sold us the mattress told us to flip it every couple of...
Pros: Hard to get out of bed! Cons: Hard to get out of bed!
We bought a king size Simmons Beautyrest mattress in the fall of 2000.
I was pregnant at the time we made the purchase, and our two dogs prefered the bed over the floor. That left my husband with minimal space! Not to mention we were sleeping on...
Pros: Box springs are fine Cons: Matress is Sagging
Three years ago I purchased a new high-end King size bed and frame, I also purchased a King Size Simmons Beauty Rest and after one year it began sagging. Believing Simmons to be a reputable company with high praises and lengthy warranties, I called...
Pros: initial feel for 3 months Cons: sags. I feel like i am rolling in to the center. Edge stronger than middle
I give this mattress a 2 out of 10. I shopped around and tried the sealys but like the bowling ball idea.
I called and complained and they sent some "tech" out after 4 calls to the store and 2 visits to the mattress gallery. They are very rude....
Pros: Honestly - there is not one I can think of ! Cons: Terrible product and customer service to match.
After two BAD experiences with Simmons I learned I'll never do business with that company again ! I feel like this is the story of the Three Bears - The first beautyrest is about as hard as a slab of granite. The second is fine - that is if you like...
Pros: comfy when you first buy it, pillow top is nice. Cons: middle sags and looses support after about 8 months, customer service is not friendly.

Pros: Cradles sore shoulders, backs and hips. Double the coils of all the rest. Cons: Deep Mattress equals expensive sheets
Spent weeks researching. Narrowed it down to the top rated: Simmons, Kingsdown, Spring Air, Serta, Sealy, Sterns and Foster. Then went for "test drives." While Kingsdown was a dream in the store it was cost prohibitive, plus I couldn't find much...
Pros: Very comfortable for approximately 2 years. Cons: Broke down, lasting only 4 years. Saggy and side is buckleing out.

Pros: At under $800 for the set, it was within our budget at the time. Cons: Did not hold up over the long haul.
In 2000 my spouse and I purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Ambassador Plush mattress set. One year later, it was replaced due to the box spring breaking. The store replaced the entire set under warranty. So, I have slept on this bed since ...
Pros: Mattress doesn't move when one partner moves or gets up. Cons: Deep indentations.
Too expensive for poor durability.
Useless warranty.
We bought a Simmons Beauty Rest mattress about 4.5 years ago. We liked it very much at first, our favorite feature being that we could both move around or get up without disturbing each other. We are both restless sleepers so this is an important ...
Pros: Feels great in the store, very comfortable at first, high coil count. Cons: Begins to break down immediately, firmness fades quickly, indentations after 2 weeks.
My Springair mattress was 12 years old and I had just turned 60. Although my old Springair still seemed fine to me, I had read that at my age I should use a little softer mattress. (The Springair was extra firm, which I liked) In July 2007 I went to ...
Pros: They product looks great on the showroom floor. Cons: The construction of the product is terrible and it quickly degrades.
As many of the others who have posted reviews, we thought we would have no problem dealing with an old industry name like Simmons. We were very wrong! While my claim is likely lost in the sands of mattress company/retailer purgatory, please read ...
Pros: Can't think of one Cons: Hot, PERMANENT body impressions, overpriced
After 30 years on a Sealy Posturepedic (top of the line and paid approx. $900.00 in 1975) my husband decided to buy a Simmons. We have owned this mattress approx. 6 mo. and paid $1700.00. It is not worth one cent and I probably could not even give it ...
Pros: It was fine on the showroom floor. Cons: Body impressions. Lump in middle. Not flippable. Horrible quality. Customer care department could care less.
The Simmons Beautyrest is absolutely the worst mattress I have ever slept on. It felt nice on the showroom floor. But, that was deceptive. We took it home and it was fine for about a month then I noticed divots where my ...
Pros: Lighter to move around now that they don't have 2 sided pillow tops. Cons: HORRIBLE depression/sink hole, making the bed not only useable, but a health hazard.
We bought the Beautyrest Vanderbilt back in Nov 2007. After a couple of days, I noticed my side of the bed was sinking. By day 30 the sink hole was so bad, I had to climb up out of it to reach my wife. I could look over and she was literally at least ...

Pros: Soft top layer Cons: Ridiculously thick, not very comfortable (yet?)
After two weeks of (not) sleeping on it, my rating for this mattress has gone from zero stars to two, so there is hope yet. I did my homework, read lots of reviews (thank you fellow Epinion writers), laid on dozens of mattresses and, after spending ...
Pros: Successfully isolates movement. For the first six months it was very supportive "firm" mattress. Cons: Began to sag after six months. Forced to roll center and feels like a hammock.

Pros: Reduced partner disturbance Cons: Very poor warranty response

Simmons Beautyrest Monet by monymacaroni ,Dec 16 '06
Pros: you really barely feel the other person moving Cons: Did not last more than six months...
We bought the top of the line Beautyrest king size mattress thinking that more money meant more comfort. Although it started out comfortable and the no disturb part is great the mattress has indented after only six months. I can no longer sleep on my back without waking up with a terrible backache and forget sleeping on my side - something goes numb and wakes me up. At 120lbs you would think that I wouldn't be able to cave in a mattress that baldy. If I lie in the middle of the mattress I end up feeling like I'm on top of a precarious ledge with slopes on either side of me. It has ended up more like a hammock than a mattress ! The mattress warranty person did come to inspect it and admitted that it was more than the allowable 2 inch per year sag,... we have yet to determine what the store will allow us to do. I just want my money back.
Brand new World Class sagging in middle ?!?! by gladesteen ,Feb 09 '04
Pros: Good looking mattress, comfortable pillow top, nice end support. Cons: SAGS IN MIDDLE - Do not buy unless you love rolling into each other!
Purchased one week ago!! Noticeable sag in center of bed already. Looked to see if frame was set up properly -- it was. Paid $1200 for a King size mattress that sags already?? I don't think so......returning IMMEDIATELY !!
My Premium 5000 king mattress has a hump down the middle of it. by donine1 ,Jan 25 '04
Pros: I do not have a pro comment! Cons: I do not recommend the Simmons Premuim 5000 mattress if this is suppose to normal.
My Simmons mattress has a hump down the middle. I turn the mattress quite often but the results are the same. My bed looks terrible when it is made up. I contacted Simmons and they said " the impression is not a manufacturing defect, but rather indicates that the product is properly conforming to your body's contour as designed.
Has anyone had the same problem? I can't believe this is normal for the mattress to have a 1 1/2 to 2 inch impression on both sides of bed with a hump in the middle that is always there.
SHAME! SIMMONS BEAUTYREST by jrothchild ,Nov 24 '06
Pros: NONE! THIS COMPANY SUCKS Cons: EVERYTHING - SEE ABOVE
I purchased a Beautyrest 5 years ago. I will NEVER buy another bed from either Simmons nor Sit & Sleep in Culver City, CA. The do not stand behind their products. They said that the bed was normal. How is a 2" sag normal wear. They sent out a letter stating they would not honor the warranty. SHAME ON THEM! ANYTHING TO AVOID NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS
Simmons Beauty Rest Mattress is expensive Trash! by asbass13 ,Jul 02 '04
Pros: comfortable for about a year Cons: trash!!
We Purchased our Simmons World Class Beauty Rest king size pillow top mattress in Oct 2001 (2 years ago) It is like sleeping on ROCKS! the company refuses to service it as they say the mattress (which is white)is stained which voids the warranty! what do mattres stains have to do with the quality and durabilty of a product? I have 3 kids, what in my house is not stained?
Pros: we were impressed with their warranty.and how quickly the honored it. Cons: very decieving in the store cushy foam on top hard as a rock.
We had a simmons beautyrest Candace valley and we loved this bed.but after to 2 years we ended up with a big hole on my side of the bed.so the mattress inspector came out agreed we had a problem.simmons gave us a credit within 24hrs of his visit i was impressed after reading about alot of warrantee's not honored.so we went bed shopping at our local RC WILLEY store they no longer carried our bed .so we purchased our baxter beautyrest which felt great in the store not so much in our bedroom, that soft comforting feel of our candace valley was gone.we now have a very firm mattress with a very deceiving cushy top.we wake up sore everyday. RC WILLEY will not let us exchange this bed.there 30 day return policy does not apply to us which really burns me up.I can only hope this bed gets a big hole in it so simmons will give us another credit.
Simmons Beautyrest Warranty by scnewsom ,Dec 29 '03
Pros: None Cons: Useless warranty.
My wife and I bought a king size, pillow top mattress in December of 1998. It was very comfortable, initially. Within months, we had to rotate the mattress more often than is typical, and within 2 years the compaction was irreversible. At 5 years we were uncomfortable and looking to get rid of this $1200 mattress. I noticed it had a 10 year warranty, so I contacted Simmons. They sent an inspector and within a couple of weeks I received a letter telling me that there was no structural failure, and that the compaction did "...not affect the product's durability." What defines "durability"? How about "useability"? We will never buy another Simmons mattress.
Pros: Nothing!!!!!!! Cons: Simmons doesn't stand behind their own product!
My story is similar to others on this forum. We own a Simmons Beautyrest Mattress that has major problems. However, Simmons refuses to stand behind their 10-year warranty.
We purchased the mattress from Mattress Giant. Within a year, mattress developed "sags" on both sides, top and bottom.
After completing the extensive claim form, an "independent" inspector visited, taking more photos and measurements.
3 months after this warranty claim begins, we get a note from Mattress Giant stating that we had abused the mattress. UNTRUE!
I contacted Simmons Co. by phone and was assured that I would receive a return call within a day or two. 3 months later, still no call.
I completed the customer service form on Simmons website. I received an email response telling me they will get back to me shortly. Again, it's 3 months without no response.
It's interesting to me how easy it is for a company with a quality product to honor their warranty; but a company with a sub-standard product knows they can't stay in business because they can't handle the repairs resulting from their below par products.
Our family doesn't plan on doing business with Simmons or Mattress Giant again.
Pros: Looked great felt great for 9 mnths Cons: After 9 mnths, big dip, poor por quality
I never leave feedback on any website for any product! But this was soooo bad, I just had to take the time!! Do your research!! I Bought a top of the line Simmons Beautyrest Mattress, paid over 4,000 for the most expensive mattress I could find thinking I would be in heaven for 10 years at least… not so! Mattress failed within 9 months and I can barely sleep now, I wake up with back pain every morning. An obvious major dip has appeared in the center of the mattress. I weigh only 180 pounds and am the only one who sleeps in this bed.
Sinkholes in Simmons Mattresses by circol ,Jan 26 '07
Pros: Retailer does keep replacing it. Cons: Develops sinkholes, major loss of back support.
This is my third Simmons Beautyrest Mattress in 2 years.. Each time, only after a few months or less, the mattress develops a sinkhole.. Lower back support is gone, I wake up each morning with back pains. The place I bought them from replace it withought any arguing. And each time a get a better model, or firmer or softer. But this is crazy!!! I cannot believe it is happening again. I am starting to think I am somehow the cause to this failure. But how? I only weigh 160 lbs , 5'7" .. I usually sleep on my back and in the center, but before long the support fails and if i move over to the edges, I will roll right back into the center again. I am so upset. Am I and only a few others the only ones experiencing these problems?
Working on 4th Mattress in 4 months by piercex3 ,Apr 29 '06
Pros: Loved the support it provided for my back at first. Cons: I only way around 185, and the mattress collapses under my weight.
I first purchased my mattress in Jan '06. It's a Simmons Btyrst Plush, Brocade. The full retail here in Alaska was $2,499 for the mattress. Also purchased the box spring, and frame for it. After the first 4 weeks or so, the middle had sunk over 1 5/8". The store determined it was defective. The replacement one was damaged in shipping. The next one I received on Palm Sunday. The service tech is coming out this Thursday to look at this one too. The middle of it is collapsing just like the first, only after 3 weeks.
Pros: I can't think of a single thing good about it. Cons: This $2200 mattress set sagged from day one!
Just read a review of Simmons Beautyrest mattress. We have had two; one we returned 15 years ago at Foley's and exchanged for a Sealy (which we still have in a guest room). The other one we bought at a furniture store and have had no luck at all in returning. From the first night we discovered the mattress had sags and the furniture store refused to take it back. My next call will be to Simmons directly. I hope they can help. We were told the mattress had to have a 3" sag before returning it. Someone came out to "look" at the mattress and said it was fine. Of course they didn't "sleep" or even "Lay" on the mattress to tell how it felt. I will NEVER buy another Simmons Beautyrest mattress.
Pros: Delivery guy was great. Cons: Very stiff and uncomfortable. Promotes tossing, turning and a sore back.
Bought a queen Simmons Beauty Rest World Class line with a Eurotop Plush about 1 1/2 years ago for $1000. My spouse and I are of average size and weight and the springs are already creaking. Both of us toss and turn in this bed and wake up with sore backs. When shopping, the bed felt great in the store. Now, it's as if the independent coil "technology" has completely stiffened. It feels like concrete beneath the pillow top. I would try to return the bed if I were able to find my warranty info, but, judging from other postings, Simmons customer service doesn't seem to be very service oriented. By the way, I know the CEO of this company which also played a part in my selection. Today, I'm going to start my search for a new bed. We can't continue to wake up sore and tired any longer.
Lasted Less Than 6 Months! Now Causing Backaches! by indallas123 ,Aug 18 '09
Pros: Was OK for the first 4 months. Originally paid only $499 plus tax for it. Cons: After 4 to 5 months was no longer usable and caused severe backaches.
I bought a brand new Simmons Beautyrest "Treasured Hope" firm euro top mattress from Mattress Giant in February 2009. It was only good for about 4 to 5 months then it started giving me a severe backache every day. It got to where I would wake up every day with a bad backache that would get better throughout the day, then start all over every morning when waking up. It's definitely the mattress causing it. It's pretty awful when a brand new mattress doesn't even last 6 months before wearing out and causing backaches. And I have slept on it alone and I am not overweight. I just ordered a new FLIPPABLE mattress and I am now going to give the inferior Simmons mattress away to whoever will haul it off for me. I am currently sleeping on the floor until the new mattress is delivered. Even the floor is better than a Simmons Beautyrest mattress after it's 6 months old. I will NEVER buy another Simmons product again and advise everyone else to never buy Simmons either. What a rip off! Simmons mattresses are GARBAGE.
Custody of the bed? We'll have to buy another... by researchingmom ,Nov 19 '04
Pros: Comfortable, durable, doesn't disturb other occupants when getting in or tossing and turning. Cons: Satiny cover is slippery and sheets can slide off with high activity on it.
My husband and I can't agree on who gets the custody of our Simmons Beautyrest mattress. Its been 10 years since we bought it and its held up better than our marriage.
I bought it over the phone after finding a mattress I liked in a department store, so I'd not tried this specific mattress out. Once I started sleeping on it, I fell in love with it. I was really happy I bought it. We've had our children all sleep with us at various times and they always slept more soundly on our bed than any other. My mother has used our bed on her visits and has begged to switch our mattress with her $2000 pillowtop monster.
I'm sure I've lost this custody battle so I'm searching for a replacement. I am only going with Simmons Beautyrest again.
Pros: It looks wonderful but it cannot be seen because it is covered with bedding! Cons: It is most uncomfortable and the testing company is just a "shill" for the manufacturer.
I was assured by the salesperson that the mattress would keep its shape and resiliency and it was warranted for 10 years.
Over the past several months I had noticed distinct valleys and peaks in the mattress and both my wife and I have been suffering severe back aches in the mornings.
On complaining
I was referred by your service department to the company Sleepteks America, Inc., and the inspector came with very primitive, in my opinion, instruments, to measure the body impressions. This of course is a misnomer because the measurements were not taken with any weight present.
The cursory pressure applied by hand at the head of the bed and in the sleeping areas appeared distinctly different as I watched the inspection.
Simmons Beauty Rest-Poor Choice,Defective Product by jqdrstv ,Mar 28 '09
Pros: The only good thing- it lasted for about 2 days before things went bad. Cons: Apparently a poorly manufactured product for $1500.
My wife and I bought a mattress and box spring March 3, 2009. The label said it was made in Charlotte,NC. We slept on it for three weeks and began to notice it had depressions on both sides. When we asked the seller to honor their warranty, they made us wait for another week to come and check the set. They discovered that the box spring had failed. At the place where the box spring ruptured, the mattress was damaged. They replaced the box spring and the mattress remains in the same condition. The mattress at the store was not even close to the one we bought.
Here is another kick. They want a 20% re-stocking fee and a $50 delivery fee to replace the mattress. They did waive the delivery fee on the box spring, but I fear we will get stuck on a replacement. We will be asking for a credit on another mattress. Our sleep has been horrible on this mattress. They called this one the Courtney VIS Firm. No way!A firm mattress is firm, not full of depressions where your body is resting or not
Simmons Beauty Rest is the absolute worst purchase I have ever made by shawnsway ,Aug 06 '06
Pros: pretty fabric on mattress cover (big deal) Cons: terrible, awful, ripoff, lumpy, does not last
I am on this site looking for reviews of different mattresses because I need to replace my 7 year old Simmons BeautyRest mattress set. First, this mattress set needed to be replaced about 2 years after I bought it. It's lumpy, swayed, springs popping out the sides. What a horrible mattress. I will never buy another Simmons product. I have flipped, and quarter turned the mattress as per the directions, but you simply cannot believe how many springs have popped through the top and sides. When I make my bed, it looks like one of those old swayed beds you see in the movies in low class motels. I purchased a feather bed to try to extend it's life, and this has given me another 6 months. I am miserable, with constant backache caused by this lousy mattress set.
I purchased this in either January 1999 or 2000. Don't make the same stupid mistake I made! Stay away from Simmons products.
Simmons Beautyrest Denali Eastern King by janae869 ,Mar 23 '05
Pros: It is a no-flip, no rotate mattress. Cons: The mattress is very uncomfortable and does not provide a restful night sleep.
Have you ever slept in a padded canoe? It must be very similar to sleeping on this mattress. For the first year we owned it, it was somewhat comfortable. However, it gradually became worse and worse. Finally, after 8 months of not getting a good nights sleep, I called the company for an inspection. Of course, they sent a mattress inspection company representative who found nothing wrong with it. My wife and I are both of average height and weight. We both wake up with sore shoulders, back, and/or neck every morning. However, since the company is not backing it's product (15 year warranty), we are forced to live with it or spend a lot more money. We paid over $1200. My recommendation: Try another brand.
Simmons Ultra Plush pillow-top is the BEST! by rguard ,May 10 '04
Pros: GREAT comfort, no movement, memory foam pillow-top Cons: Expensive.
We bought a Simmons beautyrest mattress in queen ultra-plush pillow-top about a year ago and have found it to be the best bed we have ever slept in. The pillow-top is several inches of memory foam and the bed absolutely does not move when someone gets up. This is great as sometimes I get my 3 year old daughter to nap with me but if I want to get up and the bed moves she stirs and it starts all over. We all sleep very well and find the firmness fine and no signs of indentation yet. Also the edge guard is great as I can sit at the foot of the bed and put on my shoes and not sink all the way or disturb anyone sleeping.
10 out of 10 :)
Pros: Liked the mattress to start with. Cons: When mattress sagged, Simmons would not stand behind their warranty, They just stonewalled me.
I purchased a Simmons mattress with a ten year warranty and after about three years the mattress was sagging badly. I filled out all the proper documents along with pictures and sent them to Simmons and had no response from Simmons. After about six monhs, I called them on several occasions and was talked rude to. That was over a period of two years and I still have not had a response or phone call from Simmons. I just want people to know what to expect if they have trouble with a Simmons mattress.
Pros: There is nothing good about these beds in my opinion. Cons: Thousands of complaints posted on the internet, company evidently does not stand behind their products.

This is author/columnist, David Lawrence Dewey.
I purchased a KING pillowtop/foam - after 8 months bed has broken down badly. Simmons is giving me the run around, I have demanded a refund because the dealer went bankrupt and went out of business. This is second bed doing the same thing. When you lay in it, it "sinks" badly into deep holes. Simmons uses excuses, "normal body impressions", " there will always be an indentation", to get out of their warranty. Something must be done about this.

Pros: Nothing Cons: Heavy, did not help me sleep, horrible for my back.
I bought a top of the line the Beautyrest right when I turned 40. After about a month my back started hurting, and I assumed I was just getting old. This went on for two years. By the end I was spending 15 minutes stretching every morning so I could just walk. Then I finally realized that my back was fine by the evening. (Yes, I realize I was a bit slow on the uptake!)
Even though it was WAY too expensive, I bought a Sleep-Aire. Frankly, I hoped it would do me no good, and I could return it with a good conscience. However, two weeks later I was like a new person. No back pain at all, AND I sleep much more deeply, not waking up every 2 hours like I used too. Beautyrest is old technology and just does not cut it for folks who have have any back problems at all.
Pros: None Cons: Terrible quality and customer service
We spend sooooo much money on a king mattress and the pillow top had depressed into two huge craters in 3 years. We called simmons and they sent someone out to inspect the mattress and send a report. He was great...took pictures, measured the depth of the depressions and after all was said and done, Simmons said that the huge craters were normal wear and tear and they had formed to our bodies. Nevermind that we had terrible back pain from it. They would not do anything to replace the pillowtop. We will never buy simmons again!
Pros: Starts out nice - cover held up well. Cons: Has gotten softer and softer and softer.
We purchased this mattress 5 years ago. It is the worst mattress I have had since I could afford to buy good mattresses. I don't know what we will replace it with but it won't be a Simmons product. It was represented as "top of the line". It was also represented as a mattress you didn't have to turn - ever. We have treated the mattress with care and have not abused per the warranty - which I might add - is useless after 4 years.
Pros: The mattress was nice at first. Cons: Check the warranty! Price was way to much for how long the product lasted.
My husband and I purchased the top of the line Simmon's Beautyrest Mattress 4 1/2 years ago. Our Rose Hall Ultra Plush set us back almost $3000 including boxsprings. This mattress had a pillow top so it didn't need to be flipped only rotated 180 degrees, which we did regularly. Well 3 years into the mattress there were 2 huge dents from where we each slept and a large ridge between them. I called the company that we purchased the mattress from and explained the situation. The sent me a packet that I had to fill out with measurements and send photos in. They ended up sending some one out to verify my information. As he looked at the mattress he pointed out a dark spot. It looked as if someone may have spilt a drop of Coke or Pepsi. I didn't think anything of it. I received a letter in the mail stating that since there was a stain on my mattress it voided all warranties and that they will not replace or apply any money towards a new mattress. I will never buy a Simmons product again.
My experience has me convinced that the problem is not with Simmons, but with foam-filled pillowtops.
We gave in to a salesman's assurances that pillowtops have been perfected, and we bought a king-sized Simmons Beautyrest Patterson with pillowtop. Just as we had read in countless reviews here, there were two dents where we slept after less than a week. After a month, we could see the dents through the blankets and coverlet after the bed was made.
However, we made sure to buy our bed from a store with a 30-day return or exchange policy. We went back to the store and rolled around on a bunch more mattresses before settling on a Simmons Beautyrest World Class Firm Reginald. The store delivered the Reginald, took away the Patterson, and we are happy people.
I should say a word in support of Carson Pirie Scott, the store with the policy that made our exchange so very easy.
Simmons Beautyrest Warranty success by asleeper ,Nov 01 '04
Pros: They actually did agree to the replacement, with an upgraded model. Cons: Horrible mattress (not what you want when looking for a bed)
Well we purchased a king size Beauty Rest for $1300.00 (Box springs included). The salesman sold us on the quality and the warranty. Seven years later the thing is absolute junk. The wife and I have been miserable on it for the last two years. After reading the horror stories about the poor warranty response, I contacted Simmons anyway. I told them right off the bat that I had heard nothing but bad things about them, and the solution was replacement or I would go buy ANY other brand. I am happy to say after an inspection they are actually replacing the box spring and mattress (+$55.00USD shipping which I feel is fair). I am also happy because my OCD would not allow me to tear any of the legal tags off, and you will need them if you want to make a claim (along with your receipt, thanks again OCD)! I mean really who normally keeps a receipt for 7 years????
Pros: Looked nice Cons: Very difficult to rotate, and that hasn't helped anyway!
King size" top of the line" was replaced by the furniture store where purchased after 4 years. Became very uncomfortable and canoe like. Same experience with the new one. Back pain every am. I hate it!
Pros: very supportive pocketed coil will last return rate less than 2 percent Cons: none that i can think of!!!
the simmons world class mattress is the best bed i have ever slept on their is not a more supportive mattress made in the world the best on motion seperation i would recmond a simmons beautyrest to anybody looking for a new bed
Pros: Has held up to 2 people,2 cats and 2 dogs on the same bed! Cons: No hand grips for turning
About 4 years ago my husband and I decided it was time for a new mattress. I have always had problems falling asleep since I was a little girl, on average it would take me over an hour. Plus our two cats had decided THEY needed to sleep with us now so it was time to upgrade from a double to a queen. We purchased a Simmons from American in Madison, WI.
The first night we had it I fell asleep in 15 minutes.
4 years later it is still going strong and I can now fall asleep as soon as I get into bed. Not only do we have the cats sleeping with us, but it has held up to 2 dogs as well. Our friends LOVE this bed. It is a plush, but not a pillowtop-nothing fancy. I cannot express what a joy this bed has been. I don't care if it wears out in the next 10 years, I'll still buy another. My only complaint is that I have to eventually get out of it in the mornings! Oh, and the fact that my mattress didn't have hand grips for turning.
Pros: none Cons: I was paying for quality, and all I got was a painful night's sleep!
I purchased one for over $1000.00. My back is killing me, and I've never had a bad back! Mattress King in Atlanta is where I purchased it, and even though the first mattress came with free delivery, in order to exchange it I will have to pay $160 in restocking and delivery fees!
I called both the Simmons manufacturer and Mattress King, and both have the standard saying of "That's our policy". I really wonder if there is some defect to the bed since I've never experienced back pain before. I called the owner, and am waiting for a call back, but I am not optimistic at this point.
Obviously buying a mattress is much more complicated than most purchases! And it is such an important one! Frustrated!!
Pros: not uncomfortable Cons: big dips developed after just a couple of years
We bought a Simmons Beautyrest Alexandria mattress back in 2001. After a couple of years, the king size mattress had two noticeable dips in it....one for my husband and one for me. We're not heavy and he's gone half the time for work! So it's not like it gets abuse.
Now it's gotten so bad that people actually ask if it's a waterbed when they come over and tour our house. It just has that roll-y look.
It's not uncomfortable but those dips! Ridiculous! We're looking at memory foam to replace....hmmmmm..
Pros: Nothing good to say about them! Cons: Nothing good to say about them!
Yes, I know the feeling. I will never recommend them to anyone. After 2 replacements I three the 3rd mattress set of $1,200 in the dump. I can never say a good word about their products or customer service. Horrible !!!!!
Simmons Beautyrest comfort was very short lived. by dpmatson ,Mar 31 '09
Pros: This bed gave me great comfort the first two years. Cons: The bed only lasted only 4 years and the company will not honor the warranty.
I bought a beautyrest and found it the most comfortable bed I ever slept in. My girlfriend felt the same way. But since it only lasted 4 years before the top was concave, and my back was hurting every morning. I realized I spent 500.00 a year for the life of the bed and am already shopping for a new one. They say they have a 15 year warranty, but Simmons created a fantastic loophole to get out of it. Any type of stain, anywhere on the mattress voids the warranty. A glass of water spills on the side of the bed. That's it. Sucker! Watch out for this. With all the bed shopping I've done over the years, I've found it to be setup to trick the consumer. Like stocking only crappy hard firm mattresses that are reasonably priced to sell you the expensive foam tops that wear out quickly.
Thirty years of Beautyrest Mattress comfort and durability. by zero7777 ,Jun 10 '08
Pros: The pros of a good mattress is reasonable price, the comfort and durability.
Cons: The cons are having the knowledge to purchase this new mattress; price; comfort.
We are writing this review because when we purchase our first set of mattress back in 1976, after we were married on December 11, 1976, we were not familiar with mattresses and what brand to purchase. We tried out the mattress and like the firmness and the price was within our range. We took a chance but after over 30 years of use we have been very happy and satisfied with our purchase of the "Beautyrest Mattress". Another reason we wanted to write this review it is amazing and has surprised a lot of people that we still have these mattresses and are still sleeping on them. I will have to admit though they are wore out and a little sagging in places. So we are presently looking for a new set of "Beautyrest Mattress" at a reasonable price. In this day and time it is difficult to find a produce that will give you this much service. We would just like to say "thanks" for such a good produce.
Never buy a Simmons, or two! by bmancpa ,Oct 02 '09
Pros: A new mattress ever 2 years! Cons: Shopping for a new mattress .... again....
Our first Simmons lasted all of 2 1/2 years before i was sleeping in a hole. We complained and received a new version for only an addtional $220. I am now sleeping in a hole again after 2 years!
Pros: Nothing positive about this mattress. Cons: Will cost you in doctor bills due to backaches. No warranty consideration by Simmons.
We also purchased the Simmons mattress with a 10 year warranty, no flipping required. The mattress has indentations of 1 and a half inches, according to the Mattress Marshall who came out to inspect the mattress. Simmons warranty department says 1 and a half inches is acceptable, anything over one and a half inches is not acceptable. How about that?! Don't buy a Simmons..... no matter what the salesperson tells you, Simmons will not back up their warranty, and told us we could file a claim again in 90 days. My husband and I are both having backaches due to this mattress. I guess we will burn the mattress and buy new. Anyone out there have a suggestion for a GOOD mattress company?
Pros: worked great first couple years Cons: Poor quality Poor customer service
Bought one of these 5 years ago, after 4 years mattress started to lack support in one section. Simmons did nothing under their warranty ! Poor customer service and poor quality products
Simmons Beautyrest Mattress = Disappointed by geeoh73 ,Dec 29 '08
Pros: I liked the Mattress set the first month or so. Cons: Mattress is sagging in the middle, don't buy this mattress/box spring set.
Simmons Beautyrest Mattress Firm with Plush Top less than 4 months old is SAGGING in the middle!!! I was very happy with my purchase of the Simmons Mattress and Box Spring Set at first but I thought after a couple of months there was something wrong with the center of it. Now after almost 4 months the center has sanken almost 1 1/4" and I am Very Disappointed! Please note that I am not a large person as I am 5' 2" tall and weigh 115 pounds. This set was on sale at a purchase price of $700.00 from a Large Department Store Chain. I will be contacting the Department Store and or Simmons to find out what I need to do regarding any warranty. Hopefully the warranty covers this. There are other reviews that I had not read before the purchase of this set (unfortunately), some good and some bad but most don't indicate if the Mattress has a standard, pillowtop, euro or plush tops on them which would help shoppers with there purchases.
Warning Simmons Pillow top ruined in a 2 years by shonuff22 ,Dec 05 '08
Pros: Most comfortable mattress i ever owned for the 1st year. Cons: ruined in less than 2 years
Warning.. Do not buy a simmons beautyrest pillow top... Me and My wife spent thousands of dollars on a pillow top from Simmons and the mattress is ruined now.. The pillow top is dented in on both mine and my wifes side 3" deep.. When the Art Van service man came out he stated that there warrenties would cover any sag over 1 1/2 inches.. Ours was double that and he said he cant help us because there was a 1/2 inch blood stain on it. (I am a Mix martial artist and my knee bled through). He also stated that there is nothing that they can do.. His words were "thats a shame" "the warranty would cover that no problem ecxcept for the blood mark". Just to let you know i am 6'5' 240 pounds, but my wife is 5'6" 135.. Both the sides are dented in the same...PLEASE HEAR THIS WARNING. Simmons pillowtops will be the best bed you buy for the first 1 year, then you will wake up with terrible back pain because the mattress brokedown and your sleeping i a hole.. dont say i didnt warn you.
DON'T BUY SIMMONS MATTRESS!!! by qron6170 ,Aug 30 '05
Pros: Nothing - nada - Cons: There is no warranty even though it says there is.
We purchased a Simmons Beautyrest (King size) for $1100 11 months ago. For the past few months, we could barely get any sleep, since the mattress is sagging in the middle. I feel like I am sleeping on a slope. My wife wakes up with headache every morning. We finally contacted Simmons, and they sent a rep to examine it. A few days later, they sent a letter saying their warranty would not cover this type of defect (sagging). Now that I am reading all these reviews, I finally realized that I have been conned by Simmons. I wonder If all of us here can do something against this company so that they take some responsibilities to back up their warranty.
Pros: Reasonable Price Cons: There is really no warranty..
We purchased a Firm Simmons Beautyrest Pillow Top Mattress and box springs from Elder Beerman department store in Ohio last fall and paid over $1300. The coils break down as you sleep and form around your body but when you change positions the coils remember your old position and do not spring back right away. Now if you live in the artic circle you will like this part, One of my biggest complaints is the material in the pillow top captures your body heat and makes the bed too hot. Now of course when I contacted the manufacturer and store they say, "This is the first time we have ever heard of this problem", and offered no help and pretty much said sorry about your luck...
I will have to purchase another Mattress and Box Springs and I can tell you this,, It will not be a Simmons product and would recommend you look long hard at this company and the reviews written before you purchase.
Pros: Awesome sleep, no sag even after years Cons: Tall/thick
We bought one about 5 years ago and still to this day cannot believe how good it still is to sleep on. The only neutral thing I can say about it is they are tall/thick so it can be a little more hassle finding sheets and/or getting up on i.e. for elderly or pets. We've owned many different brands of mattresses in the past and most developed a huge sag in the middle...not with this Simmons though. We're definitely going to buy another Simmons Beautyrest now that we've upgraded to a King-size bedroom set. Our Queen-size one will be living on for many more years in the quest room.
Less than a year old and already sagging by ucmyke ,Feb 27 '08
Pros: Pillow top, nice cover, good box spring, no flip, no turn Cons: mattress sagging, twisted pillow top, lousy customer service, warranty, mattress, uncomfortable over priced
I purchased a King Simmons Beautyrest Exceptionale, pillow top mattress less than a year ago. It came with a 10 year warranty which I have now discovered is worthless. Within a few months the mattress was sagging where we lay on the bed with an ever growing mound down the middle of the mattress. The pillow top is actually twisted,in that it is not square on the base of the mattress. Our complaint produced an independent inspector and a subsequent letter from Simmons.
Simmons states that sagging (they call it compaction) is normal, as the mattress conforms to our bodies. Further that this is NOT a defect and therefore not a warranty item. They further stated that the "more plush the mattress the more normal compaction is likely."
Repeated pleas for assistance yields more comments of similar nature.
I can no longer sleep on the mattress, I can't get out of my own bed when I do. What a waste of money. Last Simmons we will ever buy.
Simmons Beatyrest stinks by coleenleong ,Feb 18 '08
Pros: none Cons: terrible customer service and unfair pricing policies
We purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Ashfield Pillowtop 4 years ago. It now sags and Simmons sent a guy to check it out. He determined it was defective and needs to be replaced. I have had such trouble with getting a replacement. They no longer make the same one and the mattresses they deem "equivalent" all have fewer coils and are less comfortable. None of them are pillowtops (they are firm, plush and superpillowtop, which is way too soft) We purchased this at Mattress Discounters (a.k.a. Sleeptrain) and both Mattress Discounters and Simmons were very unhelpful when it came to excercising my warranty rights. The mattress that is closest in feel and quality to the Ashfield is the Hamilton, which costs $200 more than the "equivalent" mattress they wanted to replace mine with. We would have paid the $200. However, Mattress Discounters wants to charge me $476. It is unfair of them to make a profit on a warranty exchange. My advice: do not buy a Simmons mattress and definitely do not buy any mattress from Mattress Discounters.
Simmons Newton Plush- Expensive & Not Worth It. by blanck1 ,Dec 01 '07
Pros: Great in the beginning. Cons: Very expensive and poor quality.
I purchased the Simmons Newton Plush Mattress ($1300) in 2001. The mattress caved in where I sleep and became extremely uncomfortable. Simmons is refusing to replace the mattress. I am an attorney and considering filing a law suit. If you've had a negative experience with Simmons, especially regarding the Newton Plush, please contact me.
I am not a large person by any means. I rotate and flip the mattress over regularly but it sagged severely. Simmons sent out an inspector who couldn't wait to leave to go to his grandson's soccer gave and rushed through not listening to anything I said. Then I received an e-mail saying the mattress was fine and therefore would not be replaced as I had requested.
I have sent an official letter of demand for them to replace the mattress and they have failed to respond. I have obtained and filled out the paperwork for a small claims lawsuit for the damages.
Their customer service is terrible and their alleged independent inspectors worse. Maybe it's time someone sued them and taught them a lesson.
Please contact me if you've had a similar experience with Simmons, especially regarding the Newton Plush.
Don't buy. Simmons Beautyrest sags in just a couple of months by kiwijm ,Aug 20 '08
Pros: Looks nice, very comfortable Cons: Developed an inch and a half sag in just a couple of months
Purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Felicia plush queen from Macy's. A very comfortable mattress, however it developed a noticable sag within a few weeks and after around three months it a developed into a one and a half inch trough with no sign of it slowing down. Since I only weigh 155 lbs it was a bit surprising. After contacting Macy's, a representative came out, measured the sag and since it was at least the inch and a half minimum required by the manufacturer, arranged for an exchange, I chose this time a Simmons mattress which was firmer, so as to avoid another sagging experience, however after spending a couple of weeks on this one , I find it very uncomfortable and difficult to get a good nights sleep. The challenge is to find a comfortable plush mattress which wont sag to quickly, and it most likely wont be a Simmons.
How does Simmons stay in business??? by cantrell744 ,Feb 24 '09
Pros: Looks good, felt good for the first year, firm edges Cons: made very poorly, poor support, Company doesn't back up their warrranty
We bought our king size mattress with the promise that it had a 10 year 100% unconditional warranty. Well, after 4 years the mattress had totally lost it's support. My husband and I both were waking up with back pain. We contacted both Simmons (manufacturer) and Mattress Outlet (where we bought the mattress) and they explained to us that before they could send anyone out to look at the mattress, we would have to pay them more money. In other-words, they had no intention of doing anything about our problem, they just want to get those last few dollars out of us because they knew once they refused our claim, we would never buy any of their products again. They're right!!! Sleeping on this mattress was like sleeping is a hammock, where the sides come up around you and you can't move. They call this a pillow top, and I would agree, that it's the top of a pillow... with no insides.I wish I had read these reviews before I bought. I could have saved a lot of money, not to mention the time that has been wasted on a warranty that doesn't really exist.
Simmons Beautyrest World Class Exceptionale by margusty ,Aug 09 '08
Pros: After a nights sleep, our bodies are relaxed, rested, ready for another days workout. Cons: NONE.
We needed a new mattress. Our sleep patterns changed with middle age. Both my husband and I are athletic and exercise daily. We are tough in work and excercising our aging bodies. We spent one year researching and testing out mattresses. We did a long rest-test on the Simmons Beautyrest World Class Exceptionale. We purchased ours two years ago. It is thoroughly supportive and comfortable. After a nights sleep, our bodies are relaxed and rested and ready for another days workout.
Pros: None Cons: Sagging mattress. Creaking box springs. Box springs out of square. Felt transfer of motion.
My husband and I bought a Simmoms Classic Beauty rest king mattress set and it is the worst mattress I have ever slept on. The whole mattress was sagging with in weeks. Our backs and hips were killing us. We bought it for the purpose of having less motion transfer which Simmons claims. That turned out to be totally false. It was even worse with this bed. We ended up buying a mattress made like the one we previously had, only in a king. Thank God because now we can finally have some sound sleep. The quality is extremely poor and I would never recommend their products to anyone.
Simmons Beautyrest - Never again! by kblock ,Sep 05 '09
Pros: The bed was comfortable for the first 2 years and the salesman was cute. Cons: Everything else. We were cheated into buying a faulty product.
We bought this mattress after having back issues with a futon. In the Mattress Discounters store in Emeryville we were told we didn't need to buy a box spring if it matched the platform model (with a specific amount of planks, etc). We loved it for the two or so years. But then it started to form to our bodies and sink. We were told the warranty lasts 10 years. After 4.5 years with our bed, and many chiropractors later, we finally called in the warranty. They measured the bed and confirmed it had depressions. But then were told because we didn't have a box spring, the warranty didn't need to be honored. Mattress Discounters said we had to take it up with the manufacturer and the manufacturer said we had to take it up with the store. No one would help us and we feel completely cheated. So I warn you, DO NOT BUY SIMMONS and don't trust the salespeople who tell you about a waranty.
terrible - sagged after just a few weeks by jcoomes ,Feb 06 '09
Pros: Looked elegant. Cons: Unusable after just a few weeks of normal sleeping.
Bought a pillow-top mattress (middle of the line, but the collusion between manufacturers and retailers makes it impossible to determine exactly which model) and within a few weeks it had noticeable depressions on either side where we sleep. At night when you try to get to a different spot on the bed, you just roll back down the hill into the depression. Called the retailer, Mattress Discounters, and they were no help. The just called a "industry approved" inspector who came in and measured the depressions--with no weight on the bed! They weren't 1.5" or more deep, so the mattress was "functioning within normal limits." A total piece of junk.

Pros: My side of the bed sleeps good...no lumps on it, so far. Cons: Husbands side has lumped up and been replaced once already.
We bought our Simmons Beautyrest Classic Mattress about 2 months ago and after about 3 weeks the padding had bunched up on my husbands side of the bed...no problem, they brought us a new one in about a week and about 4 days later I changed the sheets and took off the mattress cover and it was bunched up in the same spot as the first one....still waiting on salesman from BEDZZ EXPRESS to get back with me on what they are going to do about it this time...it is a Beautyrest Classic Gifford Plush...
