Pros: Great for walking! Smooth, quiet, sturdy, quality product at reasonable price! Cons: Extra charge for indoor delivery (but worth paying!)
Ive finally decided to join the fitness revolution! I have tried various forms of exercise and have realized that I really enjoy walking the best! (One day, I hope to advance to running!) The downfall to walking outdoors, however, is that the...
Pros: Unbelievable stability, very quiet, great shock absorption, and an easy to read display board Cons: Manual's a little hard to read until you use the treadmill once or twice.
I was in a local retail store, and I noticed that the price of treadmills was out of my league. I was bummed because I really wanted one. A co-worker told me I could buy a commercial grade treadmill on the web for about half what I saw in the stores....
Pros: Great for walkers AND runners! Cons: Delivery is included in price; but, indoor delivery is extra!
I'm a petite woman who loves walking everyday! My husband is a runner who is over 6' tall! There are times when outdoor exercise just isn't convenient. So, after some discussion, my husband and I decided to invest in a home treadmill.
Pros: easy to set up; optional heart rate monitor available; calorie counter Cons: new...will report back!
A year ago, I suffered neck and back injuries in an automobile accident. After several months of physical therapy, my doctor told me that it would be alright to begin a regular exercise program again. Knowing that I used to be a runner and wanted...
Pros: Quiet operation, stable, low impact running surface Cons: Manual could be better
I decided it was time to get serious about getting in shape. I’m intelligent enough to know that these infomercial products are all hype and no results. If you want to lose weight and get in shape you have to eat right and burn calories.
Pros: Sturdy, smooth and comfortable, relatively quiet, nice display, reasonably priced Cons: Heart Rate Control issue, required a free upgrade of components
Generally:
My wife and I purchased a Smooth Fitness 9.1HRC Treadmill back in December just to keep in shape and exercise some while watching TV. It was very easy to assemble and is extremely sturdy, easy to use, not too loud and very...
Pros: Sturdy machine, nice size belt, solid construction Cons: Manual for setup is terrible. Customer service couldn't help track my order.
I was looking for a treadmill to walk on and one on which my daughter could run from time to time. I went to various stores to try out the treadmills and then started to search on the Internet.
Let's be frank. If you want a treadmill that is...
Pros: built well, low noise, affordable Cons: manual is hard to understand, extra charge for setup
I’m in love! With my Smooth 9.1 treadmill! I wanted my very own treadmill for a long time. But most of them either cost too much or were just junk! After lots of looking around, a friend introduced me to the Smooth treadmills. She had bought a...
Pros: Good price Good basic functions Free shipping Solid feel Electronics motors heavy duty quality Cons: Frame inner structure should be thicker, welded better Lack user programs
Have had unit about 4 years. It works well though has limited settings which wasn't an issue for me. I paid $1800 w/ free delivery. From talking to a sales guy who worked for the company years back I am nearly sure the unit is actually made by SPIRIT ...
Pros: Solid (heavy) unit. Seemed to have good power when it ran. Cons: Unreliable. Just try getting it serviced. Poor owner's manual. All preprogrammed programs are 20 minutes.
My new Smooth 9.1 HRC was delivered on 1/04/02. I think it was manufactured by Spirit Fitness since it was shipped from their factory. It cost an extra $50 to have the shipping company (ABF) deliver it to my garage. It ran fine for a few weeks. It...
Pros: Durable, very little maintenance required Cons: Hand bars could be a little higher, but I am tall.
My 9.1 HR has been in regular walking use for eight years. No problems, excellent computer function and display, everything still works the way it should. It has certainly lived up to its initial high rating.
Pros: sturdy, and great design, feels very stable Cons: difficult to move, power fold model easy but is too heavy for me to move
I recently bought my smooth 9.15hr model and I must say I am impressed with the feeling and design of this machine. If this machine were at my health club I would have no idea it was a home machine I really enjoy using it, and I was very worried that after years of using professional quality gym equipment that home equipment wouldn't be sturdy enough or quality enough for me but I love this machine. However This machine does have a power fold option, this is useful to me only if I want to fold it up to use the space around it. Even folded it is too heavy to move. Also if you cannot bring a 250 pound machine into your house you will have to find someone who can or pay for professional delivery and set up. Otherwise a great value for a great machine
Smooth 9.1hr - broken more than working by mlinarz ,Apr 08 '06
Pros: Quiet when working.
Small footprint when folded Cons: Unreliable
Customer Service
I purchased this treadmill in February of 2004. Since then it has had a leak in the hydraulic motor, which leaked on our carpet, a roller bearing developed an extremely irritating squeak, and now the electronic control board is out.
It has been sitting for a total of 5 months, unusable, in the 25 months since it was purchased.
In contacting Smooth about the electronics board, I have received the same message now for 3 months, they don't have the board available, and have no idea when it will become available.
Customer service is another issue. Basically you call and get someones voice mail. They decide when to return your call, sometimes taking weeks.
I would not purchase another Smooth Treadmill.
UPDATED March 7th, 2008. Lower electronics board is bad again, having been replaced last time in May of 2006. Called Smooth - no longer their problem since out of warranty. The gave me a number at Spirit treadmills to call. Over 4 days, I've left 3 voicemail messages at Spirit. Here we go again.
DO NOT EXPECT CUSTOMER SERVICE by ah1234 ,Mar 23 '08
Pros: Don't know still waiting for parts Cons: all of the above
We bought a Smooth treadmill and it arrived with shipping damage and 4 weeks later we are still waiting for the parts to arrive. Their customer service said that they would should the parts out overnight, I guess that means on a pack mule.
While I'm sure that the treadmill is actually of reasonable quality, the customer service is non-existent. The are very nice on the phone but fail to follow through with any help when it is needed, like actually shipping the parts. The warranty looks great but it good for nothing as they don't send the parts when you need them.
