Pros: Well made, nice button layout, versatile IF you have other remotes for teaching Cons: No display, can't handle gaming boxes (not tested), can only learn from existing remotes.
Choosing a remote for a collection of audio, video, and gaming devices is not an easy matter. You not only have to consider what types and brands you want it to control. You have to think of how much effort you will need to devote to programming it, and ...
Pros: price, range, strength. Cons: set up, layout, quality, effectiveness.
It is unfair to fault this remote at the price that it sells for, but luckily that's what I am here for! I've been trying to replace my failing URC R5 for a while now and it looks like the search goes on. The RM-VL600 is a quite large remote, it ...
Pros: Easy to teach remote codes from multiple remotes. Very durable. Cons: No lighted keypad.
The RM-VL600 is a universal remote control that has the ability to learn codes fron all of your current remote and store them in a stylish silver and black remote.I recently purchased a 37" HDTV made by OLIVIA. I was looking for a cheap universal ...
Pros: Excellent value
Learning function works well
Large number of components supported Cons: Few useable specialty buttons, and the ones there have useless descriptions
Clunky feel
I decided to purchase this remote after deciding I didn't want to spend $100-200 for a Logitech Harmony. All in all, it has turned out to be an excellent remote for the price. After reading other reviews, I didn't even bother to use the built in ...
Pros: GREAT! uses all devices! actually learns their functions! PRICE--who needs a harmony? Cons: none at all!
I didn't know there was something like this out there until I needed it! With all the new brands of flat panel tvs out there, this is a great choice so that you can combine all those remotes into one. This thing was a lifesaver--or at least it kept me from having to return my new tv. I had some pretty obscure remotes--things that you could never find codes for. This controls them all. Setup is simple enough if you follow the instructions. Just don't throw the instructions out, and you may want to keep your old remotes around--even though you won't really need them with this little baby on the scene. Remote has a good solid feel. It works flawlessly. And on top of it all, for some reason this remote doesn't get lost as easily as some of my others did. There probably isn't a good reason for this other than I just love it too much to lose it.
Good for Star Choice and Olevia 537H TV by superstretch ,Mar 13 '08
Pros: Easy to program. Easy to use. Worked with my 'off brand' TV Cons: The manual could include more explicit information.
No button that resembles "record"
This is the first remote I found that will do the Channel Guide for the Star Choice 205 satellite receiver. The RCA remote just shut down the Learning function when I tried to teach the guide button.
Also does everything for the TV
Very happy with it
native programmed for a Sony cd changer by Greg1128 ,Nov 04 '07
Pros: Works Cons: No On-Off support. The cd changer never had it.
I purchased this device for use with a CDP-C335 Sony cd changer - only. edit The Sony cd player I own, CPD-C335, evidently, does not have a native remote on-off function. I purchased a used original remote.
Works great, except for not being able to turn the cd changer on or off with the remote. I purchased a SONY brand remote only to control a SONY brand cd changer.
-edit- In my small research for this remote, I did find quite a few folks like it alot, and appreciate it's reasonable price. This remote is around US$30 and performs like one 3 or 4 times its cost.
I can go to the bay and get the whole package, with remote, for slightly more than US$40. What should I, will I, do? I mean, it's a Sony Universal remote. Going to their website, brapp brapp, no info there. Nada.
To advance through 5 disks, use the recall button. To go to the next track on a cd, use the number pad or the channel + and - buttons.
I took the remote back to wallymart and got my dollars back. -edit- The separate remotes are still available on fleabay.
Pros: Easy to set up. "Learns" from other remotes quickly. Volume and channel button are large. Cons: Buttons are hard to see in dark or slightly lit rooms. A bit bulky.
This is a great product. I purchase it from Wal Mart for around 25.00. I have replaced about 8 different remotes; including the remote for the new Manovox analog to digital converter. There was no codes provided for this remote but the product easily "learn" from the converter remote (or any other remote for that matter).
Pros: True learning remote. Simplifies device usage. Good design. Cons: Time-consuming to program, but worth it.
Over the past year we have been fortunate enough to acquire a new LCD TV, HD satellite box, and home theater system - but all are of different brands. Each device came with its own "universal" style remote, but after entering code after code after code to try and sync everything into one neat little package, we gave up on using any of them! None of the four "universal" remotes cooperated with more than two devices at a time. So, out of exasperation, we picked up this remote ($25 at Best Buy, although I just found it cheaper online) and though programming all 4 devices' functions into it was time-consuming, it was well worth it. It really is a multi-brand learning remote that captures all of the features of the 4 remotes put together.
Sick and tired of remote(s)? by wnyzfinest ,Apr 07 '07
Pros: Controls almost every device! Cons: Can Be Complicated,
Had a satellite Remote, TV Remote, and DVD Recorder remote. Just had it, I was looking at the harmony remote controls, wow so expensive. Then I ran into this control, I was reluctant since i was really unsure due to brands, My TV was on the Code Screen (Polaroid) , and DVD Recorder (as DVD) Philips DVD-Recorder..I simply manually added the record buttons with the learning features.
You can even program your AC (if there is a supplied remote!), As long as it's IR Based device you are SET!
Great Price and Product!
**TIP** To Program Off Brand Devices
Hit SET for 3 seconds
then hit the device you want to program (ex VCR)
hit the button on the sony (ex PLAY)
then you hit the button on the original control (play)
hit set.
