Sony CCD-TRV338 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder

Pros: Lightweight, Steadyshot, Small
Cons: Cheap battery that comes with it.

I bought this camera to replace on older Sony camcorder I purchased 5 years ago. I stuck with the Sony brand since I have had great reliability with all the Sony products that I own( VCR, TV, Camcorder).

This camcorder is great for the price ($269). It has great features including the Steadyshot and Night Vision features.

It is one of the few remaining Hi-8 camcorder around(JVC and Samsung make some also). The camcorder is smaller and lighter than my previous one.

I recommend this camcorder to anyone who is looking to replace an older Hi-8 camcorder or to have a spare one handy.

The next time I have to replace this camcorder (hopefully no sooner than 5 years), I will probably have to go Digital since they will probably no longer make Hi-8 analog camcorders anymore!

The only con I can think of is the battery that comes with it. As with my other Sony camera, the battery does not last long. I have bought a generic battery before and it lasts 10x longer than the one that comes with the camcorder.
