Pros: Mega bass, AM / FM radio, dual cassette decks, CD player. Cons: Sucks the life out of batteries.
Picking out a shelf type stereo used to be an easy thing - the most complicated thing you had to deal with was if the speakers detached and if the CD player was going to last more than six months. When we needed a new stereo for the shop I was ...

Pros: Portable; decent sound quality Cons: CD tray wore out, not very powerful, better features now available
I got this unit several years ago, to provide sound in my studio and also to provide the background music during small one man band gigs. This unit had great functionality when it first came out in 2000. I was looking for fairly big sound for my music ...

Pros: Dual Cassette, Jog dial, CD player, AM/FM with presets, removable speakers. Cons: Bulky, silver plastic body, poor sound.
While the price is reasonable, this boombox is not even worth $100. The case is made of silver colored plastic so it feels and looks much cheaper. There is no boom in this box. The output is very weak and if you crank up the volume the tone becomes...

Sony CFD-ZW755, not recommended
by allisonjean ,Jan 25 '06
Pros: cassette, cd, radio, detachable speakers, remote control Cons: doesn't stand up to daily usage
I purchased this product because it seemed like a value. I generally purchase Sony products and had not been disappointed until this unit.
It was good for a while then started failing, the right side cassette player sound fades in and out. It has been cleaned and has not been used less than the left side. The cd player will only play from the beginning of a cd, if you try to make it play, for instance, track 15, it will just make spinning sounds for hours on end. The CD player has been cleaned several times with a lens cleaner and has not improved at all. Every so often it will work properly, but those times are few and far between. I use this player at work daily, it might work one out of 60 times and maybe less than that. If I'm in the middle of a cd, I just have to play it through the computer to finish it and then start my next cd in the Sony player. I would not recommend this product. It may be fine for nominal usage, however, it doesn't stand up to daily use.

The CFD-ZW755 is poorly designed...
by lance,_wem_dt3000 ,Jun 11 '02
The CFD-ZW755 is poorly designed and does not have enough power to produce the quality base sound that boom boxes were known for during the 80's. It cannot play CD's that are recorded on rewrite disks.
Also, the silver color looks cheap and so does the cloth speakers. Using the color black and placing metal grills on the speakers would not only make the unit stronger, but will make it look more attractive to the consumers.
