Pros: Speed. Battery Stamina. Fantastic Image quality. Excellent Movies. Good accessory range. Ultra compact. Large LCD. Cons: Needs (relatively expensive) Pro memory stick for best operation.
Considering this camera is buffering 7.2M pixel images its astonishingly fast in every respect (although I did buy a 1 Gig Pro Stick). Switch on and a welcome screen is flashed before your eyes for about 10 nanoseconds before the lens fires out and the ...
Pros: 1. Phenomenal battery life 2. Fast start-up and little shutter lag 3. Pocket-sized. Cons: 1. Poor manual 2. Not great in low-light 3. Many screen icons
I like a camera that will fit in your pocket for use when traveling and have been a Nikon Coolpix user for years. I was looking for a camera with great battery life because recharging and spares can be difficult on the road, pocket-size so I'd actually ...
Pros: Excellent image quality, battery life, functionality, small and light. Cons: Unexplained blurry shots at full telephoto, method of charging.
I've had quite a camera history, from owning the basic Canon Powershot A300 up to the 7mp beast of the Canon Powershot S70, and every camera in between from Canon. I decided to broaden my selection and stray away from Canon for a bit, but ended up back ...
Pros: Easy to Use Professional finished photographs Cons: Memory card supplied is insufficient
As an amateur photographer, I wanted a camera that was going to be easy to use and provide me with a photograph of professional looking quality. The Sony DSC-P200 has certainly come up with the goods in this respect. 7.2 megapixels of high quality ...
Pros: abundant features/settings, great image quality, solid build quality, fast start-up, no noticeable shutter lag Cons: susceptible to camera more than perhaps some other P&Ss, somewhat tedious to access some settings
A lot of the other reviews have already focused and explained the myriad of features of the P200, so I will focus mainly on the quality of the output and usability. There are also a great number of in depth reviews of this camera floating around in ...
Pros: Small size, easy to handle Memory Stick Cons: Fewer features to choose, but that can also be one of the pros.
I purchased the DSC-P200 to give as a retirement gift. The person who was going to receive the camera had used a digital camera previously, but we still wanted to give an easy-to-use and easy-to-handle camera that would be, for most people, the latest, ...
Pros: Stellar battery life, quick power up, speedy operation, compact as can be Cons: Image stabilization issues, lack of peripherals, flattens some colors.
The DSC-P200 is a great camera, in and of itself. Convenient. Ready to use quickly. Crisp pictures. Phenomenal battery life. I bought one as a logical step up from the DSC-P93, which I had tired of after a year. My hope was that I could use some of the ...
Pros: Small, big screen, great design, nice small memory sticks. Cons: Problems with blurry shots, if not taken properly.
Okay let me break down the problems of this camera. It is a great camera, but let me point out what is wrong and solutions to it. 1.) The biggest problem people have is burry pictures! Actually this is pretty much the only problem. This of ...
Pros: Excellent startup speed,Easy to use menus,Long battery life,Compact size, Unique focusing abilities
Cons: The flash, although not great,is sufficient enough for what I use the camera for.
First of all, I am a professional photographer and I am very picky when it comes to quality vs. ease of use. I own a Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II which is one of the best cameras out there. I've been looking for a pocket camera to fill the gap when I go to ...
Pros: picture quality, LCD screen, battery life, battery time-remaining display, fast startup, action mode Cons: finicky multi AF, flimsy parts, no battery charger, poor instructions, useless software, cryptic scene icons
Before I start, I would consider myself a photography novice. Although I have dithered with an SLR, point-and-shoot cameras suit me more. My previous (and first) digital camera was a Canon SD100 (3.1mp), which I liked. Since technology's march ...
Pros: tiny easy to carry around affordable Cons: a little complaint of blurry pics.
I recently purchased this camera and I LOVE it. IT takes the best quality pics from a compact size camera that I have ever seen.Never had any problems with the body or "dust".I am truly impressed with the quality of the images that are captured on the ...
Pros: Great Quality!
Not too thin!
Good LCD!
Nice menus!
Overall just great! Cons: Some minor sound quality issues.
Comes with a small memory card, but can be upgraded!
I was browsing for a new digital camera when I came across this! It's an awesome camera, with it's high resolution (around 7 Megapixels!) you can get some great quality shots! It also has a very nice setup, the scroll wheel for options is very easy to ...
Pros: Easy to use, small, powerful camera Cons: Weak flash
I ordered this camera online for pick-up at Circuit City just before a trip to Disneyworld. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it before the trip, but didn't have any problems at all. The 7.2 MP Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P200 ...
Pros: Good, accurate pics in a small VERY fast cam. Good video too. Battery LASTS! Cons: Auto will often produce blur in less than full light.
5 out of 5: if you know what you are doing. 2 out of 5: if you don't know basics of light. (or don't read the rest of this) You will notice in reviews that pros like this little cam for their point and shoot but others complain of ...
Pros: Excellent images. Battery life. Versatility. Nice videos. Relatively little redeye. Cons: Auto-focus stumbles with in-motion and low-light subjects. Relatively proprietary (i.e., battery, memory card, USB connection).
I've had this camera for several months now. It is small, versatile, with outstanding battery life, and takes wonderful candid pictures. But beware, it will not substitute for a SLR/DSLR camera in situations where the subject is in motion, especially ...
Pros: light, easy to use, clear, quick charge Cons: screen is not protected - can scratch without a case
I purchased this camera back when Best Buy only carried 5PM camera as the "top of the line" models...ahhh the dark ages...well today 7PM is pretty much standard and the price has dropped to the floor on this camera. But it is without a doubt the best ...
Pros: Battery life, size, design, quality of photos Cons: MemorySticks are terribly expensive, noise and blurriness in low light situations
I have actually owned this camera twice. I sold it to a good friend in favor of the then-new DSC-N1. Unhappy with the N1, I auctioned it off on eBay and bought this same model again from RitzCamera. I have had this model for at least four years now. My ...
Pros: Image quality, fast, rechargeable battery, movie mode, Cons: none
I wasn't so sure we should be spending quite so much on a camera when we already had one that worked just fine. But when we got this one, boy was I impressed. This thing had to many features and good points about it I was blown away. The image quality is ...
Pros: Very quick - minimal shutter lag, great battery, good image quality. Cons: A tricky camera to hold if you are in a rush.
I spent a considerable amount of time researching digital cameras – primarily because there are so many, maybe too many, models on the market. I needed a camera that my wife and I would use. It would have to fit in a purse, be quick to use, take a good ...
Pros: small, fast Cons: photo quality not consistent. Some good, some bad.
I traded up from an Olympus 3mp. My old camera took consistently good photos, but I like to do alot of cropping, and I thought upgrading to 7.2mp would give me greater ability in that area. Also, I wanted a smaller camera. I must say that I've ...
Pros: excellent resolution and picture quality, sleak, small, purrfect! Cons: none at all
I bought the Sony Cyber-shot 7.2MP Digital Camera - DSC-P200 for my wife`s birthday and it has been the best investment not just for taking family pictures but for my wife`s online business as well... The best thing about this camera is its levels of ...
Pros: Vibrant colors, great resolution, quick shutter time, compact, long battery, numerous features including video capability Cons: Can't zoom while shooting video
We LOVE this camera! We've had it for a year and have been impressed time and time again with the quality of photos (resolution & vibrant colors), extensive list of settings with a user-friendly menu, quick processing time when zooming in, ultra-clear 2" ...
Pros: Takes amazing quality pictures. Be prepared for compliments! Cons: Not Durable. Breaks Down unpredictably.
Many other reviewers have written about the specs and such so I will not waste your time repeating. What I do know about this camera is that it has "frozen-up" on me twice now and I have owned it only for 4 months. By "frozen-up" I mean that the camera ...
Pros: clear excellent photos Cons: the charge isnt the best but definitley better then one that requires batteries
We purchased this camera in 2005 We wanted a good megapixel camera and something that also done video for i was pregnant at the time and wanted a camera to catch all those special moments. Well this was it.We purchased it at bestbuy for 170 or 199.00 i ...
Pros: nice sleek shape, easy to use, nice LCD and great battery life. Cons: Blurry photos every once in a while, movie is not good.
I pay only $190 from circuit city online after rebate.
very nice looking, great LDC, easy to use but at the end some photos came blurry so I have to take many pictures and delete some of them before printing them. also movies are not good.
Pros: Small size. Cons: Poor low light focus, flash does not fire when shutter is open.
I wanted a small point and shoot to carry around instead of my SLR. I am very disappointed in this camera. It does not focus well in low light settings and the flash does not fire when the shutter is opened. I have liked Sony products in general but this one is a very poor performer. It sits in a closet except when I think that I might figure out something to make it work correctly. I have tried and I am capable but the camera does not function well at all. It lasted less than 3 months in good operating condition.
This is a high quality camera by tpallotta ,Apr 24 '06
Pros: Small and Light so it's easy to hold, takes great pictures, record small video clips Cons: Have to read the manual to learn how it works
This camera takes great pictures. I've had it for almost 1 year now, and still haven't been able to figure everything out. I don't like reading manuals, and it's not easy to learn on my own. It has a really long battery life, and holds a ton of pictures. I love to take mini video clips with it too. That feature works great!
DSC-P200/R is Small and Sleek, Very Handy by patsar ,Jul 12 '05
Pros: Good quality pictures for normal photography and lot of provision for extra accessary. Cons: Provision for charging could have been better.
Sony has gone a long way in digital photography. This small DSC-P200 is very handy to use. This is not a camera for Pro's though it say over 7MP. It absolutely at its best in bright sun light out doors. Don't expect very high quality pictures while in doors with moderate lighting. I like the overall design and the light weight of the camera. I have the Red version it is really cool. All in all i like his camera for a handy use and not for serious photoghaphy. Unlike the newer lighter models Sony has come up with this has the provision for mounting it on a tripod which is very handy at times. The only feature i don't like in this camera is the way to charge this camera. You need to open a door which is very small and tiny and then insert the cable in for charging instead Sony could have made a different kind of charging provision like in cell phones and still be elegant looking.
Too high tech for this camera novice... by danitexas ,Dec 30 '06
Pros: Sleek, takes great pictures! Cons: blurred pictures, shutter lag time
I really love the video feature! The only problem - is with taking pictures in motion... they tend to come out blurred. I've tried adjusting the aperture, without success. Also - a friend "toyed" with my camera - changed a few settings which in turn locked up the zoom lens! Lesson learned - do NOT let a friend mess with your electronics! It also has a pretty long shutter lag time - which isn't a problem unless you take a lot of pictures of your children. By the time the picture is taken, the "pose" or moment has passed.
Pros: Great quality, features Cons: when you load to computer you have to resize it because its soooo big
I got this camera a while ago, and I used it for just regular purposes, vacations, ect. And this is an amazing clear quality camera. It not only has just a camera mode, but a movie mode as well. You can record short movie clips. This is by far the 7.2 megapixle camera there is out there right now.
Fantastic Camera in every respect by sandman76 ,Mar 28 '07
Pros: Fast startup and shutdown. Remarkable image quality. Battery life is impressive. Crisp video with sound. Cons: Nothing. I always look forward to downloading all the great pictures and video.
Super fast response from OFF to actually taking pictures.
Super quality and rich full color pictures.
Video with sound looks and sounds great.
Pros: battery power Cons: blurry pictures, lousy color saturation..can't believe it's 7.2 megapixels..
I've been taking photos for years.. lots of 35mm.. i then went to digital, started with the canon 3.2 megapixel digital a few years ago.. fantastic for the money.. then as soon as it was available, i purchased the canon rebel digital.. 6 megapixel... awesome pictures in every aspect.. last week i went to chicago, wanted something small and portable... i noticed the sony 7.2 megapixel at $379, so i bought it along with a 1 gig memory stick... thank goodness hhgregg has a return policy... other then awesome battery power, this camera is downright terrible, blurry pictures and terrible color saturation.. even outside pictures stunk.. my canon 3.2 is much better... i would avoid this camera like the plague
My second digital camera by alabamapenman ,Jun 23 '05
Pros: compact size. great pictures. accurate colors. Cons: extra memory was higher than others.
This was my second digital camera and I am extremely pleased. Very compact. Very fast. The quick and easy switch to macro mode for very close up shots has been a lot of fun.
I have taken close up shots of every flower in my yard and could not be more pleased with the color and the detail. I guess I had a lot of frustration built up from not being able to handle the shots from 3 or 4 inches away with previous camera, both digital and film.
The rechargeable battery lasts what I consider a long time between re-charges. Of course, it would depend on how much you use it, but I think my first charge lasted about 10 days of use every day.
I like being able to either let the camera do it all or I can set aperture and speed, etc.
Excessive Blurry Images - Not Acceptable by crocdesigns ,Aug 04 '05
Pros: Great quality when it works. Cons: Blurry, blurry, blurry photos at an unacceptable level.
I have sent my DSC-P200 back to Sony twice for repair, as it is taking approx. 25% of the pictures either blurry, out of focus, or with odd motion trails. Yet, they claim the camera works perfect. My past two Sony's and my Nikon had no such issue-- so did I suddenly forget how to take a picture? Sony thinks that is the case. I'll let you judge for yourself - visit www.myblurrycamera.com and see real life examples for yourself! I'd look elsewhere rather than take a chance with this model...
Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P200 Digital Camera by supra2k8_1 ,May 09 '05
Pros: Quick
Small
2 inch LCD
Beautiful photos
Long battery life Cons: No zoom when capturing video
The Sony P200 is a great camera, that can take amazing photos, its extra small and the camera looks great. I love how easy it is to take pictures and the battery last a long time. I am glad i bought this camera.
one of the coolest and also long lasting by stevencl2000 ,Dec 26 '05
Pros: Nice design with solid user friendly features Cons: Kind of expensive
Very nice features, and the color doesn't fade away easily. Pretty trendy for the young ones who like to explore simple functionality of a digital camera.
I will never buy another Sony camera by shebolavirus ,Sep 04 '07
Pros: Compact, easy to use, long battery life Cons: You can't take pictures with a camera that keeps breaking down
This is the second Cyber-shot camera I've owned. The first one (DSC-P72) lasted a couple of years, then the screen went snowy. Last year I replaced it with a DSC-P200, and after only two months, the lens mechanism broke. The lens would not retract and the camera kept telling me to turn the power off and back on, which accomplished nothing. I sent it in for repair, and it came back within a few days, good as new. However, on a recent vacation, the same problem with the lens mechanism happened again. This time, the camera is out of warranty and they want $189 to fix it. It seems pretty obvious that there is a design flaw -- from reading the reviews here, I see that I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem with the lens mechanism -- but they claim they have no documented evidence that this is a common complaint. But I've had two Sony digital cameras and I didn't make it to 2,000 pictures on either one before they died. So much for Sony "quality". I will be looking elsewhere for my next camera.
Pros: creative options and enough image adjustments to handle a wide variety of shooting situations Cons: The lens offers neither a decently wide view nor much telephoto reach
The Sony DSC-P200 is hard to beat in the subcompact point-and-shoot digital camera market. It packs a 7.2-megapixel CCD, a sharp, high-quality 3x optical zoom lens, nine preset Scene modes and a host of other creative options in to a very small, well-built package. While the DSC-P200 is very similar to its predecessor, the P150, it does offer a few new features, including a larger 2.0-inch LCD monitor, and options for Center-Weighted metering, manual white balance, and spot autofocus. Like the P150, the DSC-P200 is a very responsive camera, with excellent shutter lag and shot to shot cycle time numbers, excellent battery life, and surprisingly good low-light capability. Its color is also bright and vibrant, but natural-looking. On the downside, it does trade away a bit more subtle subject detail than did the P150 to achieve its low noise levels.
Pros: Quick shutter response and almost no shutter lag
Cons: Optical viewfinder hard to use wearing glasses
I like this camera and am glad I bought it. Paid $399 minus a $50 trade-in of any old camera at CompUSA in February 2005. Small and easy to use. I was looking for a pocketable camera and found it in the P200. My wife doesnt like techy things and yet has had no problems using the camera. She loves the larger 2 LED viewing screen. I mostly take pictures of the grandkids and our puppy, The quicker shutter release and short lag times are a godsend. No problems with indoor flash shots; have come out sharp and clear. The main annoyance is what to do with several hundred dollars of CF cards I still have for my Nikon 5400. Maybe EBay?
Pros: compact, good for beginners, great in good light, pretty fast Cons: low light pics are a nightmare, different functions can be awkward
Good for taking fun pictures, and more serious pictures during good light. Other than that, the colours can get washed out. Low light is a BIG issue with blurring - it takes no prisoners. Unless you are using a tripod and the timer, it takes nothing for the picture to blur. The flash is great again for snap and click shots, but for taking better photos it just doesn't seem to be right - far too powerful. You can get past this by taping a cigarette paper over the flash (a tip I picked up from a guy working at a camera shot).
I've had mine for a while, and I will keep it, as it's good to be able to stick in your pocket and use, but for taking anything more than party shots, I'm looking for something that is a lot better.
Great Pics from a Small Package by digitaljock ,Aug 04 '05
Pros: Fantastic resolution, fairly straight forward menus, manual control options, incredible battery life Cons: Flimsy power cord cover, 32MB memory card
I purchased the DSC-P200 in April 2005 as an upgrade from my previous Nikon Coolpix 775. And what an upgrade! I took the camera on a 5 week European vacation and now have some incredible photos to remember my trip by. The 7.2 megapixel resolution make prints that are by far the most crisp digital photos I've seen. The video created by the p200 is by no means equal to an actual video camera, but it's great for capturing those impromtu moments!
It is a fantastic point-and-shoot camera that also allows the user a wide array of manual options if desired.
The only peeve is that the included memory stick is insanely small at 32MB. Definitely plan on adding at least a 512MB stick.
Great Camera, Excellent Price by lawdog38 ,Jul 01 '05
Pros: Excellent battery life, great quality photos & video Cons: None encountered as of yet
This is an excellent camera. An added telephoto lens (optional) adds even more quality to this high performer. The quality and ease of use in this camera makes it a strong performer for those seeking great photos or for those new to digital camera use. Sony you have done it again.
This has to be the best camera i ever had. The pictures are great and fast to take. Sony is one of the best, the only problem i had was a corupt memory card came with mine so they replaced it right away. Now i have a 1 gig card and it was very easy to upload my pics to a sharing site. I use photomaxphotos.com to share and print the pics. 3 days they send me 145 prints. My sony and photomaxphotos.com works great together
Pros: Very Compact and Takes Great Pictures!! Cons: Not for extra professional use!
I love this product because it is small enough to carry in my purse yet it still takes quality pictures. It is really easy to use once you get used to it. I've had alot of fun taking pictures with it. I like how you can also record video feed on it.
For the price of this camera it is a steal. If you love taking pictures you will get good use from it. I also have a Minolta digital camera which I paid about $500 bucks for. I feel like I wasted my money because although it is a professional-like camera, it is too big and bulky to carry around to functions. I have got more use from my Cybershot because it is smaller and the pictures are just as good.
I would recommend this camera to those who like to take pictures of friends and family, things of that nature.
sony cyber shot dsc-p200 digital camers by wynnroses ,Jun 17 '06
Pros: great video,as well as still shots, fun and yet simple to use Cons: none, the camera lives up to sony's standards
excellent purchase, the camera is more than self explanatory.super easy to use, even by a rookie like myself.i bought for my online biz,yet use it more just around the house, for lots of fun.there is nothing i don't like about it!!!
Pros: Good size, good life, don't have to charge every two hours Cons: battery charger is weak, need external charger for more batteries to use.
I have been using my new camera for about 3 weeks now..For the price it is great, I see great battery life and easy to follow options. Since I stepped up from a cheap canon digital camera, I have seen this to be one of the nicest I have seen in quite some time, even at all the weddings I have been to, where it is like a camera show!!
Pros: great fit in the pocket
great day photos
you can literally shoot for hours Cons: nite photos suck!
I've owned the DSCP10 and DSCP100. Believe it or not the 1st was stolen and I lost the 2nd in a niteclub. Both took excellent night and low-lite indoor photos. I'm sorely disappointed in the fact that the shaky hand appears all low lite photo's (especially w/florescent lites) and the pics are a blurry mess. Other than that, the day photos are great. Problem is that if you shoot 5 & 7 mp pics, you need software to greatly reduce the size of the pics to send them online. I was a happy shooter at a wedding where I put 175 - 7 mp pics on the memory stick pro with storage and battery to spare. I had to put the pics on cds to mail them for others because I didn't have anything to reduce them with... But for my purposes, a great camera... one that ergonomically fits into my pocket and I was able to use the extra battery and memory sticks I had from my prior camera.
Pros: Easy to use and understand . Cons: Who do you have to know to connect the carrying strap ????
The body is sufficient. a little on the heavy side for is size camera. the section where the carring strap is be mounted is very confusing according to the instructions?
Pros: Lightweight, Very small & compact, long battery life, Included dock, Touch-Screen LCD, High Quality Video Cons: Must use dock for DV cable, Can't change settings from viewfinder, Tape comes out bottom.
I have had the DCR-HC42 MiniDV Handycam by Sony for only a few months now, but so far I am very impressed. Sony jam packs ease of use and functionality into a tiny package! Coming over from a Cannon ELURA40, that I had many problems with, I'm glad I made the change.
