Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 , which cost me $158, I got the new 6-Megapixel Sony Cuber-Shot DSC-S600. At $180 it was only $22 more and features a larger screen (2-inch vs. 1.5-inch) and higher ...
Pros: Compact size, sturdy control buttons and switches, quiet zoom lens motor Cons: No all-manual controls, 1/40 sec. non-standard flash shutter speed can wash out subjects
Okay, here's the scoop I recently bought a honkin' big digital SLR, my first ever. I love the thing but it's heavy. At a pound and a half, I wanted something I could toss in my pocket for quickie shots. Having cruised my local computer retailers ...
Pros: Compact design, 6 MP resolution, Sony Cyber shot viewer. Cons: Night Vision, 6 MP eats into your storage.
Introduction In the summer of year 2006, I decided to go about looking for a nice digital camera. Two things were very clear from the offset for me while purchasing the camera: 1) Being just a casual photographer, I did not need an all frills ...
Pros: Resolution, short boot up time, pic and video quality. Cons: Colours could be more saturated, LCD resolution could be better.
I purchased a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 from Future Shop, in Canada, for $250 cdn plus taxes. The camera comes with a software CD, usb connection cable and well written manuals. No rechargeable batteries, no extra external memory and no usb extension ...
Pros: Great features, light, durable, easy peasy to use Cons: Battery life seems low, but I was using the flash a lot and cheap batteries
My experience using this product. I have taken this camera out on very over cast days, in the pitch dark, on my oddly Christmas light lit porch, in a florescent lit laundry mat, the oddly diffused light of my living room, and in broad clear sky ...
Pros: Affordable 6mp, wide 31mm equivalent, adequate controls, uses AA batts, 30fps VGA video Cons: Artifacts & noise, no custom WB, slow flash recharge, awkward buttons, not 'idiotproof'
Background I did some online research and then went to the shop to buy this camera in person. It's for my brother-in-law and his criteria were: at least 4mp, less than 900RM (about 230USD), video with sound, and runs on AA batts. I decided to ...
Pros: Nice compact size and easy menus. Cons: Battery life, battery life, battery life.
Like many others, I did a lot of research before settling on the Sony DSC-S600 to replace my old digital camera. I wish I had done more... While I love the size of the camera and ease of use, the battery life is just killing me. I don't use my camera ...
Pros: Takes great pictures, useful in many settings Cons: Menu and features a tad difficult to work with, shutter a little slow.
I bought this through E-Bay to use as my everyday, all-around camera. It has been used for indoor family album shots, outdoor action shots, in-the-dark shots, and more. I really like how multipurpose this camera is. I like the clarity of the shots, too. ...
Pros: Great value, long battery life, great photos, all around good camera. Cons: I can't think of a single drawback to this camera.
I got this camera for my daughter for Christmas and I couldn't be happier about my decision. With a generous six mega pixels, this camera can take really high quality photos at a price within our budget. It can take video, too. We bought a two gigabyte ...
Pros: Lots of features, takes great pictures, good price Cons: Some menu/options are a confusing without manual, need to buy memory stick (not cheap)
After waiting about 10 years to get a decent replacement digital camera, the Sony Cyber-shot is a dream. It's small but packed with features. We purchased it at Staples because they had it on sale, plus had a coupon, plus a rebate for the memory stick ...
Pros: Easy to use. Clear menus and manuals. Powerful flash. Doesn’t need Sony memory cards. Cons: Does not come with AC adapter, NiMH batteries, charger or have an A/V outlet.
I wanted a camera that fitted easily in my shirt pocket, be easy to use by my wife (who gets confused if a camera has more than two buttons), have a fixed LCD, a good flash, an optical viewfinder and cost about $200. I only looked at Canon and Sony ...
Pros: good price
small size
easy to use
Cons: -slow response
-no image stabilization
-Small Screen
Nice small camera that is easy to use, takes good pictures, small but not as small enough to really call a pocket camera-even though its almost that. My previous Sony Camera (3.2version) broke down and I decided to upgrade to a 6.0 Sony Camera. I had ...
Pros: Takes good pictures if item is not defective, size Cons: Bad product
I bought this camera because I thought Sony was such a trusted brand. I have to admit it does take really good pictures but not even owning it for a year I had to send it in for repair. I would turn it on and the camera would just shut off it just kept ...
Pros: sharp lens, powerful flash, excellent colour, wide angle and low noise. Cons: inaccurate battery meter, plastic case, too thick compare to other compact
I chose Sony S 600 because of its flash & wide angle lens. I compare it with two other brand costing twice and Sony is sharper and produce better colour & lower noise . Print quality was very good with very good colour reproduction. The optical viewfinder is useful when you can't compose under direct sunlight For the price I paid (about $138.00),I am very happy with it and definitely BEST BUY.
Pros: compact, good quality pics Cons: ease of use, menus confusing, cheap power switch
Have had the camera since Feb 06 and now the power button is broken, stuck down. I opened the camera and found the cheap plastic switch broken. I paid $256 for this in Indianapolis, the most I've seen for this - bad deal from the start. The good thing is the size of this camera.
Pros: Clear, Sharp images. Detailed night shots. 3x Zooming lens and fast capture. Easy to use. Cons: Power button sank a little after 9 months of use.
I got this as a gift last year. It was my first camera and it was a very enjoyable experience! I love it. I still use it even though I am now using a DSLR.
This compact digicam is great for traveling. It has a zooming lens of up to 3x, can record videos, great memory capacity and quick snapping capability. It captures very clear images. Pretty amazing for a digicam this affordable.
The most I'm impressed about this camera is that with a steady hand, night shots can be captured with dramatic details. A little grainy but quite awesome for this 6 mega pixel digicam.
When you buy this camera, be careful not to bump it too much. It isn't shock proof and may get your camera a bit messed up. Though with a few accidental hits and falls this camera is still functional after owning it for more than a year.
Here are a few sample snapshots I took.

Pros: Decent photo quality and easy to use Cons: Is broken after only 1 year.
At first this was a great point and shoot camera. I needed something relatively inexpensive, with decent quality pictures and not a lot of frills. It was great till the warranty ran out. Now the lens will not come out and the lcd displays an error to power down the camera and turn on again. I've tried new batteries, initializing the camera to factory defaults and it still won't work. Of course the repair will cost nearly as much as the camera. So, I guess I am in the market for a camera now. Bummer as it's now just before my baby's first Christmas. I wasn't planning on this expense in addition to the holidays! Sony customer support was no help. An internet search for troubleshooting tips leads to to many folx that have run into the same problem. It seems to be a Sony problem that has no fix.
Pros: Lightweight, compact, manual easy to read. Cons: The camera won't work.
We purchased this camera on-line because it was a great deal with decent megapixels. I admit we didn't do any research before buying.
This has been a terrible camera for us since it has broken three times in the last year with the same problem: The camera flickers on when we push the power button, but immediately turns itself off and the shutter remains open. Regardless of the batteries we try, it's the same problem and the camera remains absolutely useless.
To get it repaired, we have to send it into the Sony repair center which we have done twice now, only to receive it back and have it still not working. This is a combination of a lemon-camera and a repair shop that doesn't know their stuff.
I would recommend avoiding this camera and investing your money in a better brand.
Pros: nothing Cons: simple and easy to use for first time Digital Camera buyers
I just bought this camera and it is so easy to use.It fits great in the palm of your hand and is quite simple to use for a first time Digital Camera user.
Easy to transfer pictures to your computer.
Would surly recommend to my friends.
Great camera. This is my first digital. It is so easy to use, my four year old can use it. I bought a 1 gb memory card for it on ebay. I have had no problems, and will stick with sony. I've never had trouble with any of their products that I have bought. Great price and very user friendly.
great camera when it works by x_nucliar ,Jan 13 '08
Pros: good quality photos, lots of features, decent battery life, really bright flash Cons: doesn't turn on -power button is depressed and won't let me turn it on
Lots of different options for taking photos.
Has an optical viewfinder!
Good quality photos although multiple flashes cause my eyes to close
It broke randomly less than 1.5 years after I bought it.
Pros: Takes clear pictures, easy crop, takes mini videos. Affordable and worth it. Cons: Need to use rechargeable batteries for more life. LCD is small. Need buy memory stick.
I love taking pictures but at the same time not very good in taking them. I'm very satisfied with the Sony Cyber-shot. Not only is affordable (bought it for $199.00) The quality of the picture is great. It is clear even after you crop the picture. I love the fact that it takes mini videos and also catches the sounds. I use the sony Memory Stick Pro Duo (1GB)and it takes 332 pictures. I also suggest using a rechargeable batteries than just a regular one. With a regular batteries, the camera dies faster (I mean fast like after taking 11 shots). I've been using this camera for a year now and I'm very satisfied.
good easy camera to use.. durability a zero by pichappy ,Jul 19 '09
Pros: small size, easy to snap a shot, Cons: Durability is not there on this one.
I bought this camera about two years ago. It worked fine for the first 7 months, then we started getting screen error messages. The lens shutter covers started opening a bit slower, asking us to turn on and off numerous times. Could have been dust I suppose. Last week the power button stuck and now won't turn on. Checking out the repair possibilities at this point. We had no trouble using rechargable Nimh AAs but removed them each time after use of the camera. I paid 110.
Pros: nice size screen, good resolution Cons: little memory, horrible battery life,
After a hours of long research i decided to buy the Sony CyberShot camera. I was expecting to have a great experience with the camera but i was gravely disappointed. It had little memory and i had to buy a very expensive memory card. I replaced the batteries more times than i even used the camera. I finally returned the camera and bought a less expensive and less megapixal camera and it is ten times better
Oh dear! Not good camera for me? by paulchu ,May 20 '06
Pros: not impressed me. Cons: I 'll think again
want to buy a cheap high quality camera so bought this one.
But in two months broken 4 times and finally no working at all, asking you "Turn power on and off again.." Also
very short battery life no matter what brand battery you use.
You may say "Because you are bad luck..." I don't know. But I won't buy this brand anymore in my future...
