Pros: RELIABLE. STURDY. Beautiful, natural color. Great in low light. Clear sound. Super-sharp LCD screen. Cons: Will not work as a pass through device in transferring from analog source to computer
Summary: I have owned a SONY TRV900 for over 5 years since September 1999. I keep it clean and dry and occasionally run the Sony cleaning tape through it. It has never needed serving or repair. The pictures are phenomenal. Absolutely beautiful, clear color ... read more

Pros: Compact, Nice Screen, and Great Video. Cons: Not as many manual controls as its big brother and no 30fps progressive scan video.
Summary: I still remember my first experience with camcorders. It was an old full sized VHS Memorex camcorder my family baught when I was 12. Now I'm 25 and boy have camcorders changed. No more analog, all digital now! Of recent years I have had an oppurtunity to ... read more

Pros: Broadcast quality video. 3 CCDs. Rocker zoom control. Optical steady shot. Cons: No nightshot. Almost 4 years old.
Summary: Over the years, I've owned several Sony camcorders. From Hi8 to the recent Sony DCR-PC115 I just purchased a couple of months ago. Even though I was happy with the DCR-PC115, I find it very hard to hold especially when I am trying to film my newborn ... read more

Pros: Great image quality, low profile, best LCD screen around Cons: Mediocre audio, 15 FPS Progressive scan
Summary: Don't get me wrong. I love my TRV900 and it has served me well over the past two years. The image quality is fantastic and, now, with a little tinkering with your computer program, you can make it sing. What I love about the TRV900 is its low profile. ... read more

Summary: I purchased the TRV900 about a year ago as a replacement for my beloved
Canon ES5000. The Canon was very easy to use, produced great pictures, and featured a 20X optical zoom, and optical image stabilization. Until the advent of digital, this was ... read more

Pros: Three-chip, close to broadcast quality. Cons: No XLR mic inputs, key adustments via menus rather than physical dials, high price.
Summary: When Sony gets a product right, they're often content to sit back and leave it alone. Such was the case with their very-popular DCR-VX1000 three-chip MiniDV camcorder, released in 1995 but not updated until the 2000 release of the DCR-VX2000. Although ... read more

Summary: The TRV-900 is Sony's top-end "consumer" digital video camera, and as such it does its job remarkably well. My 58 year old mother bought this camera to use as her "grandma-cam" and has taken it to the beach, on a cruise to Alaska, and ... read more
