Pros: Professional quality, more features than you could ever wish for, excellent quality of photos Cons: Not Windows XP friendly, very expensive, very difficult to use
The Sony DSC-F707 is an extremely well built camera with enough features to keep you busy long enough learning how to fully use it until the next big camera breakthrough is invented. At 5.0 Megapixels you get a crystal clear picture, a...

Pros: Magnificent image quality, great lens, zoom range, battery life, low light performance. Cons: Awkward shape, initial quality control, proprietary flash, "reds", flash color balance, memory stick.
The camera produces magnificent images: sharp and great color (only saturated reds come out too strong). The lens is in part responsible for that: it seems extraordinarily sharp, it opens up to f2.0, and has a wonderful zoom range. Low light...

Pros: Long Battery Life
User friendly features
Cons: Flash produces red-eye
Included memory stick is inadequate
After playing around with my mother's Sony DSC-F707 camera, I found myself ready to replace my Canon G1. It wasn't that the G1 wasn't a good camera, it was that the DSC-F707 was much better for my uses. At 5 megapixels, the image quality of the...

Pros: Incredible image quality. Nightshot! Can be fully manual. Cons: 16MB memory stick that it comes with is useless - go 128MB. Odd to handle.
So I spent days and weeks looking for the best digital camera easily available to consumers. After reading many reviews, spec sheets, and opinions, we chose the Sony F707. It's strange to handle at first but once you get past that, it has everything we...

Pros: Awesome pictures, ease of use and wonderful features. Cons: Comes with a too small memory stick.
I have owned my Sony F707 now for three weeks and I just love it. I expected the pictures to be good, I just did not know how good till I started using it. Do I sound happy, you bet! One of my best purchases. I am also very sad that I wasted $5000 of...

Pros: Excellent picture quality...the Zeiss lens is awesome! Cons: None
I must disagree with the previous reviewer...this is a great camera. Whereas his primary objections were with ergonomics and the memory stick...these are a matter of personal preference. The most important factors to me are ease/speed of use, battery...

Pros: Easy to handle, great funstionality, great resolution Cons: Expensive
This is the hottest camera on the market. While it comes at a hefty price you will save money in the long run. With an additional $150 investment in a photo printer you will never have to go to the film developer again. Thus the big savings. In terms...

Great Camera
by jhespeler ,May 24 '05
Pros: Great quality, balance and color of photos. Zoom is superior. Cons: scroll button hard to press directly in. Zoom button on the side of lens.
We have had the camera for about 2 years now and are very happy with the quality of the prints. We have taken over 7000 pictures already and printed 8x11 prints that have come out professional quality.

Professional Quality & Features at Home Consumer Price
by ken579 ,Jan 24 '04
Pros: Awesome features. Great pictures for a great price. Professional controls. Cons: 90 day parts & labor warranty. Possible reliability issues.
I've had many great pictures with my Sony-FD707 over two years. Features are numerous, and the picture quality is fine. I write this review to find out if there are other people experiencing reliability problems. Reliability has been my only issue with this camera. From day one, it left white horizonal line(s) in pictures taken with TIFF mode. Within a year the body seperated at the focus ring. These items were fixed within the 1 year parts warranty. Now, out of the blue, the camera turns itself on and off and inconsistantly fails to recognize the memory stick. I won't rule out the memory stick inconsistancy as a memory stick problem.

Sony proprietary, non-compatible Memory SUCKs - and way more expensive
by yuwlyuwl ,Aug 29 '04
Pros: none Cons: Sony proprietary, non-compatible Memory SUCKs - and way more expensive
Reader take note: if you want a house of SONY products each requiring a memory type non-compatible with another or anything else in the world, go for SONY.
Otherwise, stay away from SONY whenever you can!
I bought DSC 707, now I'm stuck with MemoryStick while only MemoryStick PRO is sold in most stores; if I buy a DSC 717 (or any recent SONY model) then I cannot use the MemoryStick in my DSC 707.
SONY incompatible stuff simply SUCKS.
I'll NEVER buy a sony piece of $hit again. Ever. (Just recently bought
Plus, MemoryStick etc. is way more expensive than CompactFlash. (~twice).

Would I purchase it again?
by jacelyncole ,Jul 04 '04
Pros: Battery life excellent; Ease of use - great. Cons: At such a high cost, should have included some type of sun visor! Up set!
The F707 has excellent features but the one that overrides all of them is to not be able to take pictures in the sun. The LCD view is awful

Pricey, but good
by idq000 ,Jan 24 '04
Pros: Good Image Quality Cons: Everything else including the price.
This unit has plenty of good things about it. Sony has tried to incorporate all kinds of goodies in it so it may seem worth the price...well get pulled into it...it's a good deal. The apeture size may be limited and so is the focus, but it is still pretty good for such a camera. Of course, if you're into professional photography, always buy something more expensive than this. Buy a Cannon or an Olympus. This Sony unit won't cut it. Its bad thing is that it takes forever to take a picture. The MPEG movie is of very poor quality due to its very limited time and space on the memory stick.
