Whoa! What a joy! This...
by jeff)_dt3000 ,Jun 06 '02
Whoa! What a joy! This is my fifth digicam. My last, a Toshiba pdr-m70 NEVER took an in-focus picture. This Sony has everything, and the one thing that is not listed in the specifications is FUN!!! A salesman at Circuit City told me that he has sold many of the F707s, and that customers are so elated, they come back into the store to thank him, and they often bring examples of the printed pictures that they have taken.....When he showed me a GORGEOUS 11x14 that an older man had taken, I was speechless, and I yanked my credit card out of my wallet faster than I had ever done before! You cannot take a bad picture with this camera....even in total darkness! I'm EXTREMELY pleased with my purchasing decision. (I take so many pictures of my 5 year old with this camera that he is beginning to think that his father has developed a long metallic looking growth on the end of his face!)
Get this camera..... and don't waste any more time looking at anything else!

by billy_dt3005 ,Apr 03 '02
This is my 3rd digicam, and by far the best. It is very easy to use, and you can make 8x10 and even 11x14 enlargements of the images you take. This camera has thoroughly convinced me to leave film behind forever, and I'll soon be selling all of my 35mm equipment.

Iam a professional photographer and...
by prorick_dt3000 ,Aug 24 '02
Iam a professional photographer and this camera went above and beyond my expectations. Before I bought this camera, I have already owned a Nikon F-5 35mm Slr camera, a Nikon D-100 Digital camera, and a Nikon 5700 Digital camera which I spent $15,000 ! This Sony Cybershot Dsc-F707 became my all-time use camera. It is easy to use, and even my 5 yr old brother can use it! Its amazing to see a camera that a professional or a fool can use. The pictures are superb and the quality of the Sony picture is even better than the quality of nikon's pictures which I invested thousands of dollars in. Accessories are easy to find and I have purchased them all and all of them work in accordance with the sony camera. All I can say is this sony camera is a great value and is truly remarkable and that which I can recommend to a friend or anyone who likes taking pictures!

by jack_h._dt3000 ,Dec 01 '02
Taken over 1,000 shots so far. The camera comes very close to the quality 35mm Canon I previously used. The benefits of seeing your shot right away and then later being able to alter are a definite pluse over film. Sony had done a great job of bringing digital to the next stage as useful tool.

Poor online support. No email...
by markp_dt3000 ,Jun 09 '02
Poor online support. No email access to get answers. The drivers are not very good and sometimes you can download a picture to your computer and sometimes you can't. The drivers provided are missing the file,"hal.dll and it causes the software to not function at times. When I contacted Sony they said it was in the Photo Suite software and to contact them and not bother Sony about it. I don't believe that is accurate info and they sluffed me off. They need to update the drivers ASAP!Ok, but they need to work out driver issues. The zoom control is in a bad location, not easy to use, you have to look up and position your hand in an awkward way to activate it. Difficult to get support help. Long wait to get accessories, if not impossible.

Picture sharpness below expectation despite...
by picky_dt3000 ,Jul 07 '02
Picture sharpness below expectation despite proper setting even in highest resolution and sharpness. Unable to figure out how to reduce gigantic pictures while retaining supposed maximum resolution. Difficult to crop in Photosuite 8.1. Support people uninformed and cut me off three times when couldn't answer questions while supposedly checking. Can't find out maximum shutter speed for use with flash. My friend's other well-known make digital camera doesn't have any of these problems. My digital venture is a near flop and I am back to using my 40-yrs old M-3 Leica.

I have a Nikon F-5...
by mrbig_dt3000 ,Aug 11 '02
I have a Nikon F-5 35 mm with 3 AFS lens . I paid
over $5500.00 for the set up . This very small Sony
707 takes pictures that look like the F-5 or better .
No kidding you ! I just don't know how far these digital
camera's are going to go . Why dod I spend all that money
on the F-5 ? I don't know ! Ok, More zoom . Thats it !
Take your 5 mega pixel pictures and put them on a C.D.s and
take them to your nearest Kinko's and have them put
them on their lazer printer ! WOW ! What pictures !
If any of you have a H.P. lazer jet , you know what Im
talking about ! WOW ! Thank you sony for making us a
wonderful camera . Now lets have more memory on the
memory sticks !!

I got this camera a week ago, and wow! this is a beauty. Trendy, with good looks and a lot of features for an enthusiast. I fell in love with this 5 megapixel soon as I bought it. The lens are of superior quality and they dont let you down under any lighting conditions. My only problem, the camera is a little heavier than I thought

This is my second Digital...
by nubber_dt3000 ,Jul 13 '02
This is my second Digital Camera. I have been using the Kodak DC 210 Plus for over 4 years and did not want to upgrade until I found a camera that really improved my pictures enough to justify the expense. This is it. I saw some pictures that a friend took with a DSC-F707 and I had to get one. I am not a pro, but I take a great deal of pictues for work and pleasure. This camera really gives me the definition I needed for work and makes me a hit at family functions, as I am able to print beautiful pictures of all the kids and old folks to pass around and also e-mail to far off friends. Buy it, You'll like it.

by steffan_dt3000 ,Mar 24 '02
Bought camera and I loved its feel and clarity.
But four flash units I own are useless.
You must buy additional proprietary flash to use slaves and then the white balance is at risk.
My rating reflects the lack of satisfaction I received from the help site and their ignoring the issue.

We have owned for six...
by apple_macuser_dt3000 ,Aug 27 '02
We have owned for six months. Even the "serious" photographers in the family have been impressed. We all use most of the automatic settings most of the time. As with most cameras, using the flash generally produces harsh images. The wide aperture of the lens allows for shooting people shots in natural light most of the time. The results are much more pleasing than with flash. The five megapixel resolution is well served by the Zeiss optics!
We have used the movie mode much more than we expected we would. Short movies really enhance our digital slideshows.
Two friends/relatives have purchased this camera after seeing my photos. One commented that photos taken of tall ships looked better than being there!
The camera is bulky compared with a pocket camera, but the results are much better. The camera weighs about one pound less than our comparable film camera.
