I had the DSC-505v and...
by cheesedip420_dt3000 ,Apr 04 '02
I had the DSC-505v and loved it. The 707 is the grown up version, with all the control over the media (film speed, apature, everything!) that you would expect from a professional camera. Add some special effects and cool high-tech features and it beats film cameras out the door. For the price, I don't see how you can live without one.

Changed from a Mavica to...
by dr.i._sardar,kolkata_dt3000 ,Aug 05 '02
Changed from a Mavica to this 5 months ago.Suggest get a 128 MB RAM stick. You can just go on and on. Transferring is a breeze specially with XP. Tilt lenses save neck strain.Sony should attach a transparent cover on LCD Panel to protect it.Manual functions not that great. Video excellent.Difficult to carry all the time. Very, very reliable.Definitely best in the world now.

I currnetly own two Sony...
by e.red._dt3000 ,Oct 27 '02
I currnetly own two Sony digital cameras, one being a Sony digital video/still shot camera and the Sony 707. I have taken some of the most incredible pictures with the 707 I have ever taken. I keep the 707 on the mid range of resolution - for me - it is all I need, and provides incledible resolution. Useing a couple of 128MB disks, I was able to take more pictues in a month on the road than I would have been able to afford in film.

This is my 5th digital...
by garry_dt3001 ,Oct 20 '02
This is my 5th digital camera and 3rd Sony. This is a very easy to use camera. The quality of the pictures are excellent. It is easy to crop and resize pictures from the camera. I always shoot at the highest resolution and reduce based on need. I have shot approx. 400 pictures with flash at a wedding. The battery life was one of the selling points for me. When compared with other cameras this camera had the longest battery life. You can literally focus on any item, even at distance of less than 1/4 inch from the lens. A ring flash would be perfect. You might have to carry two or three 128Meg memory sticks to make up for the capacity. Excellent Camera from a Great Company!

I made A lot of...
by hamyy_dt3000 ,Apr 09 '02
I made A lot of investigation before I purchase the Sony DSC-F707. Everything about this camera is incredible. This is indeed the best digital camera in the world. Anybody who sees what this camera can do are in disbelieve. The combination of this camera and the Epson 785EPX is just perfect. When these 2 machines work together, you can really get results much, much better than any 35mm camera. After I purchased these 2 machines, I said goodbye to my 35mm camera. All the pictures I took in the park are beatiful, and every time I show these pictures to somebody they immediately ask me how I did, and when I tell them how they all want to buy the camera. If you are looking for the perfect picture buy these machines, you are not going to regret. Sony will even help you to make your decision by selling it for only $28.00 a month when you are approved for financing.

Very good handling charasteristic. Light weight, but heavy enough to be stable while shooting.
Small media, easy to swap and store.

This is my third Sony...
by george1342_dt3000 ,Feb 22 '03
This is my third Sony Digital Camera. It is well worth the money if you can afford it. It does everything that is advertisted about it. People I show my photos to think they are from a 35mm with film. I prefer 64 meg memory sticks with not as many pictures to load to the PC at one time. I suggest plenty of memory sticks and the external add on flash for great indoor pictures and greatly reduced red-eye.

This is the second digital...
by dave1_dt3000 ,Sep 22 '02
This is the second digital I have owned for any length of time. The first was a Sony FD 95, which was stolen. While I have to amitt, the 5 mega-pixels of the 707 does surpass the 2.1 of the FD 95 for most shots, the FD 95 far out does the 707 on macros, also the times 10 zoom of the 707 pales when compared to the times 20 of the 95. Another of my gripes about the 707 is the image that you see in the viewfinder isn't the same as what you get, again unlike the 95 where "what you see is what you get". Sony no longer makes the FD 95 or the FD 97 (which is pretty much the same camera) I wish they did, the 707 sure doesn't replace it.

The only thing I recommend...
by pistdetroit_dt3000 ,Dec 19 '02
The only thing I recommend is if your going to ad and external lens(wide angle, telephoto)is to get an external flash. With a wide angle lens it works fine in MPEG mode but if you take stills half the shot will be dark do to the lens blocking half of the factory flash.
