I have owned this player for 15 months now, and it has begun to stop playing CDs and DVDs intermittently and unexpectedly. Sony support suggested that I blow compressed air into it but that did nothing. I brought it to a repair shop and after trying to replace the laser twice, the repairman gave up and refused to charge me.

Like any nice audio/video gear their is a learning curve.It took me days to get the digital dolbly working, then two more day for the DTS.Hint you set the DTS in the DVD movie lauangue menu. The unit is great.I have been in to high end audio for years so this is great for playing CD and CD-R's on using the digital mode. Ad with DVD the video is great just the nature of DVD.I had borrowed a older SOny from my sister and it skiped on every DVD we played.This Sony has not skiped yet !! Works best with a receiver that had a digital input.
