Pros: Low Price Cons: Sound Quality, Durability
Out of curiosity I bought the Sony MDR-101LP headphones for my Walkman a couple of years ago. They are very low in price (as a matter of fact, these headphones are Sony's very lowest priced headphones), and was an "impulse buy" at the time. But after...

Pros: bass is good, treble is clear Cons: not durable, what do you expect for $6?
I respect all opinions, but honestly, are you going to expect $100 out of $6? Anyway, comparing these to other $6 pairs I've had, these are alright. Sound Quality The VERY MOST IMPORT part of headphone buying is the quality of ...

Great sound for the money
by zirconx ,Dec 25 '05
Pros: cheap, decent sound, light weight Cons: none
I bought these headphones for $3.99 online. I was worried they would sound bad for the price I paid, but when they arrived I plugged them in and I was impressed. They do not distort with my MP3 player turned up all the way. And even though my particular player has been known to have low audio output, it sounded plenty loud with these 'phones. They are light weight and very comfortable, too. A good buy.

Headphones which cost low and endure much.
by trustmenot ,Apr 23 '06
Pros: - Cheap
- Durable Cons: - Weak pillows
My pair of these everlasting headphones were bought about 5-6 years ago. It is much time for headphones and guess what, they are in good shape even now when i connect them to my computer to play games like Counter-Strike or even not to wake my parents :)
Sound
It isn't high quality headphones that cost 250$ but they fulfill their given role. There aren't any screeches or slaps and forget about them even after 4 or 5 years of using. One can wish they would be better pillows for isolating sounds. When U turn the volume high, the sound gets flat slightly, however, they are noise.
Appearance
There is nothing to fascinate about. I can only say a bad word about pillows which can be damage during exploitation. Oh I have almost forgot. As this is the main disadvantage of headphones for mp3 players, these pair too have a short link cable - just 1m.
Cost
In a nutshell, good side :)

Will Fall Apart on You!
by nyfa_rob ,Jun 30 '04
Pros: Cheap Cons: Falls apart, Paying for the Name
Working at a Film School we needed headphones for our students to use to be able to edit. While these headphones did provide a basic idea of what their film scores are going to sound like , the units themselves fell apart after about two weeks of use. To be exact, the connections within the earphones became disconnected. Pressure applied to the cables is too easily transfered to the actual connect points within the earphone. Try the Panasonic rp-ht21 for better cord stability for same cost.

Cheap Headphones made by Sony
by idq000 ,Jan 25 '04
Pros: Style, Comfortability, and Price Cons: Sound Reproduction Quality
Now, don't expect something like a $5 pair of headphone will give you Senn's quality. This MDR-101LP has unequalized EQ, probably because of the ferrite magnet it comes from. These lower and cheaper headphones cannot compare to some, a little more higher up in rank. First of all, these headphones have too much boost in the 4-16KHz range, while the bass, which is around 31-250 Hz come out unheard. The product claims to go down to about 18 Hz - 20 KHz, but I think it cuts at about 70 Hz, which is why it is murky and overboosted mid-bass. Probably a better pair would be the Aiwa series, also made by Sony, but it is much better, so look over them...they are around the same price range and provided much cleaner and deeper bass quality than this Sony unit. I'd recommend them for headphones.
