Pros: At thirty bucks, they are fairly cheap. Cons: At thirty bucks, they are still over-priced.
Usually, Im the kind of guy that will spring for the few extra bucks when buying electronics of any kind. You get what you pay for and if you want quality... well, it costs money. Usually I do my homework. Usually I dont just pick up ...

Pros: Decent sound; comfortable (with modification); good cord length Cons: Large, cumbersome size; lower volume than normal
Sony MDR-XD100s are a very nice choice of headphones if you're not willing to fork out hundreds for a high-end pair. I found my pair at Dick Smith Electronics for $50 (Australian). The sound is great for the average music enthusiast (I'm no audiophile ...

Poo-Poo Sound in a Nice Package
by sheldoncoles ,Mar 02 '08
Pros: - covers the ears
Cons: - bad bass reproduction
I can't believe SONY even put their name on these poo-poos.
I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I was looking to replace an aging pair of decent SONY 'phones for gaming mostly.
I couldn't stand it for 5 minutes. The bass is non-existent and the rest of the spectrum is really bad.
Now I'm listening to my iTunes with bass-boost on and it's not too bad, I guess. Not good though.
Save your money or look at something better. I can't believe I didn't research these before buying. The nice package and the quality perception made me do it.

Solid low-end performers
by thegreatfoo ,Dec 27 '05
Pros: Good cord length
Above-average sound quality
Excellent pricing Cons: Not very adjustable
Flat/Cheap appearance
Dual wires
I picked these up for general PC/Portable/Stereo use until I find a high-end pair that suit my needs. The headphones were bought on the high-street in Borders bookshop in York (UK).
Returning to proper headphones from using portable units brought home just how much of a difference even the basic models make to sound quality.
The cord length provides flexibility for Audio-Visual applications (TV/DVD/PC) and the small phono jack allows portable audio use too. Unfortunately, the unit is rather ugly, and wearing them outdoors might cramp style somewhat.
The headband will survive a fair amount of abuse, but the earpiece hinges don't allow for much movement in the earpieces and the foam padding isn't deep enough to compensate for this. Prolonged wear proves uncomfortable but the headphones are quite light and this helps somewhat.

Sownie

Pros: Good sound quality for what they cost. Cons: Feels and looks cheap.
Sound is decent. Its loud enough and clear enough for most people. They do get the job done and the sound is clear.
Construction is cheap, they seem strong enough for headphones. As long as they stay on your head as they should and are not being thrown around they will last you. The cord connections seem to be strong which at least in my case is the leading cause of cheap headphones malfunctioning. As long as you take care of them, everything should be fine.

XD100 Review
by kganesh77 ,Dec 26 '05
Pros: Good Sound Quality, Bass is just right Cons: No Volume control, have to reduce on the console connected
Was in search of a decent Sony headphone which can connect to my pc as well as TV. With its 3 meters length cord the Sony XD100 really suits both the purposes. You can maintain decent distance from TV on ur bean bag and watch DVDs on a hi-fi clear sound headphones. The treble and bass mixture is just the right quantity which makes it the best experience to your ears.

Average Sounding
by yibok ,Mar 04 '06
Pros: Priced right and okay if your not fussy Cons: Weak base and weak volume. Clarity muffled.
I bought these Sony MDR-XD100 headphones because I wanted something with more volume. I thought the 70-ohms would be better than the 32-ohms set of headphones I had before, but there was no difference in volume. Mid and upper range were okay, but the base is weak and volume limited.
