Pros: Portability, durability, battery life, style, ease of use with unit.
Cons: Small buttons, software isn't easy but works, no belt clip.
Having purchased my unit for under 90 bucks, I am QUITE pleased with the performance. I didn't expect too much, and have been blown away by the value. It is a wonderful portable audio device. I love the look and function of the unit. The software...

by hwz1 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Sep 26 '00
Pros: Remote control, save money if you buy now, great product, many different settings
Cons: Energy conserving function is annoying
I recently moved into a new apartment and the building is quite old. Hence, the lack of a central air conditioning system. The building is right outside of Philadelphia and those of you who know the area know just how hot and humid the summers can be....

Sony Net MD MZ-n505

by eskuc , Dec 15 '03
Pros: style, size, battery life, uses inexpensive minidiscs, fast transfers, optical input.
Cons: no backlight, no mic. input, would prefer a volume wheel over buttons, uncomfortable headphones.
I have tried almost all of the available portable music players, including CD, mp3CD, mp3, and hard disk based players. Overall this is an excellent player. My biggest concern was about the anti-shock protection. Being that the minidisc is an ...

My favorite player so far

by v65magnaebayer , Jul 18 '02
Pros: Inexpensive, great battery life, cheap media, light, good sound quality, quality hardware.
Cons: OpenMG software stinks, can't copy from MD back to the PC, no remote included.
I like to ride long distances on my motorcycle, and I've tried a lot of different portable audio solutions. CD players were too bulky to comfortably store in a jacket or pants pocket, and the Rio has only 128MB of flash.

The MZ-N505 NetMD...

N505 - how audio equipment should be made

by tdas222 , Jul 18 '02
Pros: Light, Small, Quick, Good Quailty Audio, Fast (LP2) transfer of audio.
Cons: SOFTWARE :( , user interface possible dislike.
I was getting a little annoyed by the fact that my CD player was becoming more of an annoyance, e.g. takes a lot of space in side pocket. Other than that it was fine (shock proof), however, it was time i placed it to the side.
My uncle loved his...

Pros: size, battery life, capacity, affordible.
Cons: no belt clip or carry case. Earbud headphones
I was going to buy a MP3 player, but a salesperson showed me the Sony MiniDisc. I went home and did a little research. I bought it the same day. I am very glad I bought this over a mp3 player. I have been using it for three days, and the battery is...

MZ-N505--Great Buy

by sebringsc , Sep 27 '02
Pros: very light and great anti skip protection
Cons: buttons are hard to get at if you aren't looking at them directly, no LCD
I bought this new off of eBay last week and I was very surprised with the quality of the product. I don't usually buy Sony because it's a lot of overpriced junk, but I have to say that this was a very good investment.

First the likes, I...

MZ-N505

by davedarr , Oct 06 '02
Pros: very light, compack in size, great sound, eazy to use
Cons: no inline remote, LCD does not light up,
Very light weight and small in size. Great for work outs and runs. Runs for ever off of one AA battery. Puts out great sound. Software is a little tricky to use at first. I wish this product had a LCD that lit up when you used it or used its buttons....

Pros: 60 hour battery life (hicapacity AA), doesn't skip, portabilty, excellent sound
Cons: no backlight, cheesy headphones, poor software
The MZ-N505 is one of the best alternatives in portable audio. Sony's advances in MiniDisc technology (allowing transfers of mp3s to MD) make for excellent storage capacities, a long battery life, and great sound quality.

If you're thinking of buying an MP3 player, read about the Sony MD first!

by leslief44 , May 15 '03
Pros: Large storage capabilities for a low price.
Cons: Creating minidiscs can be time consuming because the songs need to be formatted first.
Storage
The best thing about the MD player is that you can store up to 5 hours of music (depending on the sound quality that you choose) on one minidisc, not to mention the fact that a 5 pack of minidiscs will cost you $10 max. I can...

Pros: High Capacity. Excellent sound. Extra long Battery life.
Cons: Display is small. My vision is not good this is kind of a problem.
I can't even begin to describe my joy! Man do I love this player. I was quite skeptical after the RIO 600 disaster to move on to any other portable. But as many times in the past. It Sony to the rescue. I decided to spend the $149.00 and get the complete...

Sony MZ-N505

by mikerut , Feb 12 '03
Pros: Great sound, affordable, comes with free 80 minute minidisc.
Cons: Even though the nd is affordable the headphones included are pretty corny.
Lets start off by saying the mz-n505 is awesome let me tell you why. Some of the reasons why this md player is good are that the capacity of songs on each minidisc is the same as you could find on a cd. Its better to download then burn songs onto the...
