Pros: Excellent sound quality, small size, lightweight Cons: SonicStage not as good as iTunes, lack of accessories, few functions
Summary: I have to admit, when I first saw this successor to the NW-HD3, I wasn't impressed by its looks. In the flesh, however, it looks much nicer. I have the black version, and it looks quite classy. (Red and Silver versions are also available.)The casing is ... read more

Pros: cheap, attractive, great memory and battery life Cons: lacks colour screen, games and video
Summary: This player is a genuine contender for the Ipod. I got mine a few years ago in Singapore when it first came out. Though it says it only holds 5000 songs, that is in MP3 format, if you use the Atrac format provided you can get around 13000 songs on it. ... read more

Pros: It was small and light Cons: fragile and worst customer service ever
Summary: I bought this player last October as a replacement for my 20gig Creative Zen Touch. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made in a electronic purchase. I really enjoy my creative labs player and thought that all of the players would operate somewhere ... read more

Pros: Long Battery Life
Plays MP3Pro format.
Super Fast transfer speed. Cons: SonicStage Software
Flimsy USB/Power cover
Summary: This is my first Hard Drive based player. I seriously considered buying an iPod Nano instead, but ultimately the additional cost of accessories such as a power adapter turned me back to the Sony NW-HD5 player. I’ve been playing with the player and ... read more

Summary: My iPod died last week after only 1.5 years. Apple wanted $277 to repair it, so I figured it was time to look at the market. I looked primarily at Creative, Sony and Apple. Creative was too bulky and design was terrible. I like the iPod, but I ... read more

Pros: Tiny, lightweight, beautiful, unique, solid, superb sound quality, easy to navigate; ATRAC format is amazing Cons: Expensive. not many accessories (both a blessing and a curse). User Interface a little weak.
Summary: I will try to give my first impressions as well as my long term feelings about the NWHD-5, which may have not been already said here by other reviewers, i.e. poor Sonic Stage, etc. I bought the Sony basically on the research I’ve done on the net, and ... read more

Pros: build quality, battery life, inline remotes from other Sony portables work most important functions. Cons: software is buggy and would prefer other recording uses, voice memos, etc. .
Summary: We're not going to give out info easily found via Sony or various online website factsheets which we armed ourselves with before buying this product, but instead will address details not usually discussed or even discovered by others yet. We've ... read more

Pros: Smallest, Lightest, Strongest Battery Life (20-40hours), Removable Battery Cons: Flimsy Cover for USB and AC Adapter, Only MP3 and Atrac3/Plus Support
Summary: Let's get the important things out of the way: The NW-HD5 is the smallest and lightest MP3 player of its class; HDD-based with 20gig capacity. Aesthetic-wise, its size and slick casing coating helps it to be even cuter than any other player out on the ... read more

Pros: Size, durability, battery life, sound quality, interface Cons: SonicStage, editing on the unit
Summary: I'll admit it: I bought this mainly on price and reviews I read here. $200 for a 20GB player. Done. I can't be happier. The battery life is excellent, the sound quality is as good as your headphones, the case feels solid, and the interface is easy

Pros: Hardware Cons: Software
Summary: The Sony NW HD5 is really easy and fast to review: A HARDWARE MASTERPIECE OF ART WITH A SOFTWARE PIECE OF CRAP!!! If it could run Itunes, Musicmatch, or any other software rather tan SonicStage, this would be the best music jukebox, even better

Pros: Sound quality, Build, Size. Battery life. Use of other Sony remotes. Crisp display. Cons: Software! "Genre" forced into music filing system. Slightly low volume output (for my taste).
Summary: After finally waiting for a Sony (or any MP3 hard drive) unit that allowed battery replacement, this comes along. One of the smallest for it's size, the NW-HD5 offers the best sound among it's competitors, long battery life, Sony quality, while
