Pros: Fast, roomy (for a notebook), CD writable, DVD, and lightweight. Cons: Hibernation can be a pain.
As a mom and a grad student, I like to be on the 'cutting edge' of everything and I use the web to research just about every major purchase we make. Home, auto, Buzz Lightyear talking action figure, you name it, if I've bought it, I've researched...
Pros: Appearance, Power, Display, Decent Price Cons: Sometimes Difficult to wake up from Suspend
My father has always been skeptical when it comes to buying a new computer. He has been using an HP Pavillion with a small, 333 MHz Pentium II Processor and 64 MB of SDRAM.
Recently, it was impossible to make it do anything in under five...
Pros: Fast, well-built, nice screen, plenty of features Cons: NO DIRECT3D SUPPORT! Sound lacks power. Battery life poor. Only Windows XP supported.
I have had 3 different laptops this year - a Toshiba Satellite 1755 (which has been back to the shop for repair twice), a Satellite 2105, and my last, an emergency purchase - a Sony Vaio PCG FXA-36. This was my first Sony computer, and I was looking...
Upon receiving my Sony VAIO FXA36 I turned it on to find Windows XP Home pre-loaded. Once I filled out my registration info I was off and running. The first thing that I did not like about the laptop was the pre-loaded software. This is common on...
Pros: Rugged, not dainty like the PCG series, has everything you need Cons: battery life short, thanks for 2nd battery slot
Well, nothing's perfect. But a laptop implies mobility, and to me a mobile computer should put up with some abuse, especially to the outer casing. The materials used in the housing of this unit are the kind of plastic you don't mind bashing around a...
Pros: Speed, look, the many drives, CDRW/DVD combo, screen Cons: Heavy, fan is annoying, hot spot is by my crotch when on lap
Sony is a great company and they make great products. The Sony Vaio Laptop is one of those products. It had a great screen, sound car, CDRW/DVD drive, expansion slots, USB slots, serial slot, monitor slot, and jack for a microphone. The screen is bright...
Pros: Big Screen
Software Cons: Video Card
Battery Life
Weight
Tech Support
I have had a lot of struggle with this computer. For my internet, music, e-mail, it was fine. Gaming, it will not do. 8mb video. Horrible. This computer is so unstable that I have to call Sony a lot. The battery life is horrible too. Don't expect more than 45 minutes of word processing and solitaire. It isn't durable either. When you open the cover, it feels like it is going to break. The only things I do like about it are the screen and software.
Bottom Line:
If you want a internet laptop, it is ok.
