Pros: Exceptional Pilsner, malty and hoppy, refreshing and delicious. Cons: Green glass bottles. Watch out for skunking.
Frank Zappa said something to the effect that to be a real country, you have to have a beer. Nuclear weapons would be nice if you could get them, but at the very least you should have a beer. And I can tell you that in the latter regard, New Zealand ...
Pros: Crisp and clean Cons: Skunky due to green bottles
When I think of New Zealand, I conjure up images of mountain peaks and quaint cities teaming with friendly locals. I haven’t traveled to New Zealand myself, but I have heard from others that its people are very laid back, much like those of its ...
Pros: great tasting, interesting and herbaceous hops flavor Cons: On the expensive side, may be too lively in carbonation for some drinkers
This 5% alcohol-by-volume lager is billed as New Zealand’s finest beer and the brewer, New Zealand Breweries Limited, even goes so far as to call it the World’s Best Lager.
Pros: Great reputation, nice smell Cons: Watered down taste,
THIS STEINIE IS A WIMP!!!!!
OK, so I made an impulse buy. I stopped at KENT'S Market on Airport Road in Redding, CA (530-365-4322) and, while picking up one of his super good steaks for supper (a New York) I found this Steinlager display back...
Pros: Another bottle for your collection Cons: Thin, uninspiring taste
As a New Zealander I would love to be able to recommend this beer to everyone and hold it up as a glowing example of product from my home country...alas I cannot.
Steinlager only really appeared on the beer drinking scene in New Zealand in the...
This Lager goes out as New Zealand's finest and also as the World's Best Lager. Well, I will admit that it is smooth and very drinkable, but to tout it as the finest in the land of New Zealand is questionable.
Pros: A decent if mild beer Cons: Weak flavor, teasing aftertaste
Steinlager (New Zealand's Finest Beer?) is an unspectacular mild beer. Its has a weak and rather bland flavor. Its aftertaste is what I find most irritating. It gives a hint of a nice malt flavor yet leaves you unsatisfied and craving more flavor. This...
Well, a beer from "down under", or New Zealand to be exact, gave me the lack of surprise I expected. Australian and New Zealand have a tendency to brew really sweet, light lagers with almost a lack of hops in it. Of course, there are...
Pros: Refreshing, great with a tequila shot Cons: Pricey
Nice refreshing drink after a hard day's work (a must in front of the rugger with ya mates). Slightly higher alcohol content than most beers, so for the price, it doesn't take as much to get drunk (if that's the plan..) Great in that respect.
If you...
Hawaii Loves Steinlager, and green bottles in general by efsajja ,Sep 08 '06
Pros: Delicious, My comfort beer. Cons: They don't make 40's
Steinlager has been the beer of choice of nearly everyone I know. I'm from Hawaii, the Big Island to be exact, and you can be sure if there's alcohol at a restaurant, bar or party, then Steinlager is there too. I haven't had the variety of beers that many reviewers seem to have had, but I know a good buy. In my experience, a cold Steiny on a hot day at the beach (for $10 a 12-pack) can't be beat. If it can, let me know. I'd love to try it and tell you you're wrong.
In Hawai'i Steinlager is mo'bettah! by punapride ,Jan 23 '08
Pros: Good and sold all over, best beer for da Kama'aine Cons: Glass bottle broke on da pahoehoe or sink in da ocean.
Howzit, I can say one thing for sure, like the other brah from the Big Island said. In Hawai'i the Puna side of the Big Island, Steinlager is da kine, it sells mo'bettah than all da imported and domestic beers in the price range. An ice cold Steinie and some Puna Butter Bud all we need on a sunny (or rainy day) at da beach or pau hana. Funny ting is the bottles are designed for import to Hawai'i with some Hawai'ian designs (hula girl, flowers, ukulele, etc). Mahalo Kealoha
