The first thing people will say about this is oh my a 'Save The Last Dance' clone. While I can see many similarities, 'Step Up' holds it's own weight. And I personally enjoyed it more than 'Save The Last Dance'

People love to bash Channing Tatum, but i personally haven't ever seen anything wrong with his acting and there sure wasn't anything wrong with his dancing. The movie was a little predictable at times, but all-in-all it was fun and refreshing.

Channing Tatum was AMAZING in this movie. Great story, although some parts could've very well been left out. Very well put together, and awesome choreographed dance routines. Most definitely a movie I wouldn't mind watching again. It tells about two totally different people who are basically thrown together at a dance academy and are set-up to perform at the end of the semester. Things start off rocky at first, but soon becomes clearly evident what will become of their relationship.

I loved everything about this movie. The actors Tyler (Channing Tatum) and Nora (Jenna Dewan) did a outstanding job together. All of the actors in the movie did a wonderful job. The music and dance moves were outstanding. I love have they took hip-hop music and classical music and mixed it together. I also love how they took hip-hop dance moves and ballet dance moves together in the same dancing routine. I love the main story of the movie how a good girl that has it all together changes a guy that is always in trouble and doesn't believe in anything. My favorite part of the movie is the end performance. I would recommend Step up to anyone that loves music and dancing. I think it is a good family movie for child over 13 of age.

Cons: Weak acting and predictable plot

Step Up's story is predictable and weak but the dancing is great. Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) plays the main character. A foster child growing up in a rough neighborhood, Gage lacks vision and dreams of anything better. Upon being arrested for breaking and entering into the Maryland School of Arts, he is forced into 200 hours of community service at the scene of the crime. His gift for dance is instantly apparent and he becomes Nora Clark's (Jenna Dewan) rehearsal partner and eventually becomes passionate about performing and the arts. The acting is weak but entertaining. Not any kind of stellar work but pleasant to watch once or twice. The music (mostly rap) is also good.
