Pros: Disposable pop in the best possible sense. Breezy and fun without being cheesy. Cons: The cheeky young lady act can't quite sustain for a whole CD.
When Lily Allen came onto the American music scene in early 2007, comparisons were made between her and soul siren Amy Winehouse, despite the fact that the two ladies really only have one thing in common-they're both British. While Amy's vocals and ...
Pros: Excellent lyrics, quirky vocals, a lot of personality, no faceless pop here Cons: Take What You Take, The Littlest Things aren't stellar.
I was watching Comcast On Demand one day checking out music videos when I came across the name Lily Allen. The music geek in me perked up thinking “Who’s That?” So I pushed enter and checked out the video for her single “Smile” and was instantly ...
Pros: Loping ska-pop with witty, down-to-earth lyrics. Cons: The mouthing off can get repetitive; more musical development would also be good.
In the space of a year, British pop-ska singer and songwriter Lily Allen has come a long way. From simple beginnings on social network site MySpace, her musics popularity has led to number ones on the UK album and singles charts, as well as a ...
Pros: Lily's pretty voice, charming, guilty pleasure lyrics Cons: mundane flatness in tone and vocals, repetition, somewhat crude
Alright, Still is the English Lily Allen's debut album. It is quite good to listen to, with Lily's characteristically soft and witty voice combined with spunky and heavily sarcastic lyrics.Lily Allen's voice is oh so ...
Pros: GREAT songs, superb production, clever lyrics, catchy melodies... Cons: ...a few songs tend to blend together, a couple of tracks fall flat

Pros: Witty, breezy and likeable, this is top notch pop and a wonderfully assured debut. Cons: The bratty persona does begin to wear.
Every so often a pop act explodes as if from nowhere and manages to nestle themselves smack bang in the nucleus of the zeitgeist. The Spice Girls and their ridiculous shoes did it in the summer of 1996, Britney Spears and her globe conquering navel did ...
Pros: Catchy tunes to bop around to in the car or at home Cons: A few songs that just don't catch me
Lily Allen combines a brit-pop sound with slightly hip-hop lyrics. Her tunes are catchy and full of clever little lines. While she may look innocent her cd is no where near. Filled with songs of Ex-boyfriends, bedroom problems, a weed smoking brother and ...
Pros: Great, happy & fun album Cons: Songs and lyrics might not be suitable for everyone.
I was a bit wary buying this album. I had heard Smile, Littlest things, LDN as singles and it was the Alfie single which persuaded me to buy it and I'm glad I did. It has been in my CD player since I bought it a few months ago. It's great to listen to ...
Pros: Good lyrics, likeable music... Cons: Allen's small voice is lost in the jungle of instruments.
Its not often that I loathe an album; it doesnt happen often, but it does happen. Such is the case with Alright, Still by British rocker Lily Allen. I dont know what made me order the CD; curiosity perhaps, or I may have heard a track from the CD. Regardless of the reasons, the CD ended on in my shopping basket at BMG for $5.99, free shipping.
Lily Allen has a voice not designed for music; it is too small and the music on this CD British produced CD too large to really highlight the young ladies tiny voice. All too often Ms. Allens voice gets lost in the instrumentation, and even some fairly decent writing cannot compensate for the lack of vocal range and decibel. Throughout Alright, Still I found myself straining the hear what the woman had to say; to be fair I would catch a stray word of phrase, but over all Ms. Allen was but another noise in the background of this CD. I would skip this one. And perhaps Lily Allen should skip singing and stick to writing lyrics, she seems to that remarkable well.
With her debut album Alright Still Ms. Allen is making her move into the mainstream. I don't know if it's the Reggae pop sound or her feisty song writing but Ms. Allen has star quality. I find myself sing along in the car to all of the songs on the album, they are so catchy and I find that most women can relate to her storytelling songs.
These 15 tracks (download the extended album from itunes) includes songs about the frustrating guys you meet at the bar that won't take no for an answer("Knock 'Em Out"), being happy when your ex is having a bad day ("Smile"), and my personal favorite the story of your bingo playing grandma who can't stop complaining about being alive("Nan your a window shopper"). She is no teenage role model, but you have to admire her honesty with songs like "LDN"--a love song to a city filled with muggers, and pimps narrated by someone who's cycling because "the filth took away my license."
