Pros: Looks and Works great. Love the lighting. Cons: Weight - almost 900 pounds empty! Very hard to move in tight spaces. Good luck.
An incredible fridge / freezer. Works better than it looks - but is a bear to move into a condo and get up the elevator. Be sure and check all measurements first. You will need four strong guys and a paramedic to get the thing in place... Overall a great ...

Pro 48 Nothing Compares
by ccazusa ,Sep 22 '07
Pros: Fresh and frozen food better preserved by precise temperature control. Cons: Wimpy wimpy ice maker. Be prepared to buy extra ice.
When we updated our kitchen the Sub-Zero Pro 48 was in a class by itself. The glass door is unique. The LED lighting is attractive. The stainless steel interior makes your leftovers look great. We love almost everything with one exception. The ice maker makes 8 small cubes every 2 hours - no exceptions! Being called the PRO 48 one would expect a professional quality ice maker. Filling an ice bucket takes 24 hours to replenish the ice bin.
The food keeping qualities are excellent. Exterior displays show interior temperatures. You can set the refrigerator temperature at 33 degrees without freezing vegetables in the bottom drawer or milk way in the back. The refrigerator side has 2 temperature zones. I thought that not having shelves in the door would be a problem but the large drawers seem to hold most items. We do miss the water and ice dispenser on our old refrigerator
We have had no problems in the year and a half we have owned our Pro 48.

Excellent addition for large new/remodel kitchen
by rcanderson ,Mar 10 '08
Pros: Beautiful look. Glass in door option helps avoid the sterile look of stainless steel. Cons: Ice maker seems to be the drawback. Not a showstopper though.
Excellent item. We have owned for nearly 2 years. Part of a large scale kitchen remodel. If you put a fridge this large in the kitchen, be sure and have similarly sized range and large counter spaces. This unit would dwarf the kitchen if not. Ice maker is only complaint. Small and ugly ice, but no different from any other sub zeros. Unit weighs a ton and is difficult to fit in tight spaces. Follow rough in measurements for precise fit. UPDATE: My PRO 48 unit died in SEP 2008 from unknown causes. Although all cards and circuit boards were replaced, no tech or kit could fix it. It went back to Sub-Zero factory for autopsy. Sub-Zero however replaced it and installed it, no charge. I was slightly out of my full two year warranty, so it was pleasant to have no charge for this.

Great Fridge tight trays
by rjs1956 ,Mar 11 '08
Pros: Overall beautiful finish Cons: Small problems with fit
Overall we are very happy with the Pro-48. We had some issues with the fridge-side door which had a "hitch" which was easily fixed. Then the bottom drawer got a hitch and that was fixed but the drawer is no longer "square" with the other drawers - the gap between it and the drawer above is about 1/4 inch off. Also the glass shelves have two sets of slots for 3-inch high metal drawers. The drawers slide in and out easily on the right side but on the left the drawers are really tight and don't slide smoothly at all. The technicians have ordered two new sets of shelves and they all have exibited the same problem.
