Pros: Small, attractive, efficient, & basically, wonderful! Cons: None at all
As defined in the Merriem-Webster dictionary, a HOT-SHOT is a showily skillful person. Well, youll think you have one of them right on your kitchen counter if you use a Sunbeam Hotshot. I was surprised to find it listed...
Pros: Easy and fast to use. Cons: About as loud as a microwave
This is the most used item in my kitchen. Easy to operate. It has two buttons: one to heat and one to dispense. Just fill the top with water and heat. It takes less time than the microwave. I would suggest keeping a Pyrex 2 cup measuring cup with it...
Pros: Easy to use! Compact and the best water boiling invention ever! Cons: NONE
This is the best product for those of us who don't have time to wait for water to boil, all those people constantly on the move you know what I mean. Small, compact and fabulous describes this ingenious product! I was first introduced to this item ...
Pros: Heats water fast. Looks good. Easy to use. Doesn't take up much space. Cons: Not available in stores around my area, had to purchase online.
I have no luck with teapots. I have melted two on the stove so I got an electric kettle. It works fine but takes a while to get the water boiling and I read that if you want a good tasting tea that you should not boil the water because it removes the ...
Hot Shot has staying power! by schott_robert ,Dec 10 '03
Pros: It heats water remarkably well, quickly, and reliably over many years. Cons: Can put off a lot of steam, shouldn't be placed under a wood cabinet.
The hot shot water heater has been a staple in our kitchen for some years, but I always took it for granted until my mother used it and was in awe that we could have coffee water boiling in a fraction of the time it took even in the microwave, about 20 seconds I'd say for a mug-full. The hot shot not only heats water fast but it works consistently well over the long haul. Ours has been with us for seven years or more and has never given us any trouble. I'd recommend it for anyone who drinks or serves hot drinks, also makes short work of instant oatmeal, bullion cubes, etc.
Pros: Endures. Easy to use. Easy to clean. Stays hot. Cons: I wish it would hold more.
I got this for a wedding present from a friend who also owned one and loved it. She searched high and low to find one for me, finally finding the last one (it had a chipped bottom) at an obscure drug store. I loved it when she gave it to me and have been using the same one ever since, three children and four moves later. It makes hot water faster than nuking it, doesn't spill or leak, and has worked consistently for over seven years. Definitely one of the best wedding presents I ever got.
Pros: Easy to use and it heats water extremely fast Cons: None
I got the hotshot when I saw it at Walmart on clearance and thought this would be great for hot tea but little did I know that this little device would be the angel of my husbands Hi blood pressure and stop his coffee drinking that was the start of his hi blood pressure, and I got him to start drinking green tea,and using the hotshot was simple and fast and did not take as long as cup of coffee did,and now his blood pressure is down and he is in love with the hotshot so am I.
Pros:
Durability. Heating only the water you need. Cons: None. Except only lasted 28 years.
I received my Hot Shot (model # ??)as a gift in 1977. Over the years I have made a few minor repairs: reinforcing the spring holders on the dispenser knob, replacing rusted screws with stainless steel, repairing a knob that I broke off. I think that Sunbeam deserves an award for manufacturing an appliance that has lasted for 28 years. It has been used at least once a day, that's over 10,000 times! It's starting to look pretty sad, and leaks a bit, so it will be retired, to be replaced with a new one. At this rate, a new one will outlast me. Thanks Sunbeam, and I look forward to a new one in my kitchen.
Pros: The unit heats water very quickly. Cons: Noisy, draws too much current, thermostat erratic.
I have owned two Hot Shots. I returned the first immediately because it emitted a high-pitched squeal in use. The replacement one now does this as well. This can be distracting to co-workers in an office setting.
The unit heats water very quickly, but does this by drawing a lot of current. If anyone else on my floor tries to heat water at the same time I am, a fuse is blown.
The operation of the thermostat is erratic. In my first unit, it turned off heating before the water boiled; the second unit lets the water boil for about 10 seconds before shutting off. The Hot Shot needs a few minutes to cool down before it can be used again.
This is an example of a product that would be much better if a bit more were spent on product quality. As it is, the Hot Shot denigrates the Sunbeam brand name.
Number one best, most useful appliance ever by bananabird ,May 21 '06
Pros: Simplify your life. Cons: It would be nice if there were other colors.
Energy efficient, too. As soon as the water boils, it shuts off. There is no electricity waste, and no concern that you might walk away and forget it. I use it for instant coffee or tea, jello, instant hot cereal, noodles, anything that requires a cup of boiling water. The outside stays cool. It never needs to be cleaned. I have one at work that is now almost 20 years old. It looks worn, but it boils water like the day I got it. The only problem is that most stores with appliances don't carry it, and most salespeople seem to have never heard of it. Sunbeam: why don't you advertise it?
Used many years but has FATAL flaw by cc_brewster ,May 15 '06
Pros: Easiest way to make one cup of something hot. Cons: It commits suicide!
I agree with the positive reviews. We used ours a long time, but I always knew that someday I would accidentally turn it on before I put the water in. I finally did it, and presto-- it was ruined. Since the thing obviously has a thermostat, why can't it detect that it's overheating and turn itself off? Anyway, I'm buying another.
