Bought the Sunpentown ice maker about a month ago; we bought it because the ice maker in our refrigerator makes hollow ice cubes and can't keep up with demand during the summer. So far we are very pleased - the unit does what it is advertised to do. As other reviewers have noted, it is NOT a freezer, so it will not store ice; you must transfer the ice to a freezer for storage. My unit turns out 12 ice cubes every 13 minutes; at that rate, the holding basket fills up in about 2 hours and must be emptied or the ice maker shuts down. I have found that I can fill three 2 1/2 gallons zip lock bags in one day, and that's enough ice to last us for one week. After the first couple of cycles the ice produced is quite dense, so the cubes don't melt so quickly in your drink - the cubes are better than any our Maytag refrigerator EVER made. UPDATE: After 1 year, still pleased with this machine. No problems, and we feel that it has paid for itself.
