Cons: My room is less than 290 sq.ft. and it won't cool below 73.9 degrees

I feel this is the worst purchase I've ever made. It says it cools up to 300 sq.ft. My room is less than 290 sq.ft. and it won't cool below 73.9 degrees, despite being on high cool all night! It is simply not powerful. I tried contact Kingerson's for a return and they wouldn't even respond to 3 separate emails (no phone number was listed). I would stay away from ordering from them. Also, When I called Sunpentown I was told that it doesn't sound like the unit isn't working because it is cooling somewhat, but they are not as powerful as window A/Cs. I was under the impression that BTUs were a standard of performance, whether or not it's a window, wall or portable A/C. I feel like I was robbed! Be careful . . .

Pros: Efficient, easy to install and does the job we required very well.
Cons: A little noisy, but then I don't like mechanical noise of any kind.

We purchased this unit because we live in and older (50 )bungalow that was converted to year-round use some years ago. We have central air downstairs, but there is no place to run ducts upstairs due to the sloping ceilings. There is also an open stairwell. So the upstairs (bedroom) gets blazing hot when it's hot out because cold air does not rise. My husband is totally, totally unmechanical and he had no problem installing the window kit (the window are small). We've just had several very hot (90 degree) days, and the unit is GREAT!! I've set it on 75 during the day and turned it down at night. On the first hot day, I turned it on in the late afternoon and it dropped the temp from about 83 degrees to 75 in about 1/2 hour. This morning when I woke up, the room was a comfy 70 degrees with no humidity. I am very pleased with our purchase.

Pros: Easy to use, cools well, does not need water emptied very often. Reasonably priced.
Cons: Hardware just round collar; no handle to grab to move it, loudish.

Nice unit but, unless I am missing something, the "15.15 EER" quoted all over the Internet for this unit simply ain't so. The lable on mine says it uses 873 watts (8.5 amps). Web sites that quote this (correct) wattage give it have an EER of 11.45.

I don't know where this "highest EER of any portable AC" baloney got started but unless I am missing something it's false advertising.

Otherwise it is a pretty good unit.

Cons: poor window kit, difficult to drain

My room is about 200 sq feet, with a computer and various other devices, and direct sunlight. This unit can cool this room to about 80F - without A/C the temperature goes up to 95. I don't think it can make the room a lot cooler than 80F because the pump is running continuously.

The window kit is just ridiculous: two pieces of foam, one of which has a whole. I'll have to make a better one myself. That may also improve the units performance, at the moment I can feel some moist hot air coming in around the window kit.

Draining the unit is a hassle, because the drain is located close to the ground (about an inch off the floor).

The noise level is quite acceptable: similar to a normal fan but with an additional droning hum because of the compressor. Quite easy to tune out or to sleep with.
