Pros: Agile, swift, steady....and just as such with a passenger. Cons: The engine is a little cranky waking up on cold start-ups, and not so smooth.
Gas prices, sheesh! Okay. I am a whimpy guy. 140 lbs, thin rail frame, 5' 6" tall. Without much muscle, at 45 years old -- I'm not the kind of guy you'd think would be on a 443 pound Suzuki S-50 motorcycle. Frankly, I have allergy "panic attacks" ...
Pros: Old school appeal, hot rod performance, slim design, superior quality, price, handling, luxurious ride. Cons: ironbutt seat, small gas tank, squeaky disc brake, mirrors have poor finish.
Recently, I traded in my Suzuki Dr200 dual purpose bike for something a little more practical for street riding. Although the 200 is a great bike for learning street and off road, I quickly realized I was riding it more on the street than in the dirt. ...
Pros: Low, light, narrow, and powerful Cons: Small gas tank, squealing front brakes, winds are problematic if not enough weight
Finding a bike to fit me was one of the hardest tasks my husband and I came across. I stand 4'10" and 120lbs. so even after finding a bike that was low enough, there was still the problem of it being too fat in width or the pegs being set too forward or ...
Pros: Great reliability, shaft driven, small package, tremendous power. Cons: Difficult to work on, 48 mpg, tiring handlebar position, sore butt seat, cramped seating position
This may seem like an apples and oranges comparison (250 cc vs. 800cc) but since these bikes were purchased for the same mission there is a comparison to be made. The mission was coast-to-coast cruising and touring with about 80% on 2 lane highways ...
Pros: Low seat hieght, low RPM torque, Custom style bars, lots of chrome! Cons: Hard seat, Squeeky front brakes, fake air filter, no tachometer.
The S50 boulavard is based on the 800cc Intruder and while it retains the proven engine, drive-line, cooling system, and frame, Suzuki has updated the S50 with custom looking handlebars, one piece seat, and turn signal indicators for a very attractive ...
Pros: Inexpensive first bike for any age/gender. Good mileage and fun to ride. Cons: Brakes squeal, no trip gauge, to lightweight.
This is my first motorcycle. I chose it over the Honda 250 Rebel I learned on in hopes of it being a bigger bike, and I was to afraid to buy any bigger. It wobbles like my old moped, except more power and will go faster. The brakes squeal, no fuel ...
Pros: Fast and quick, manuverable, inexpensive, great gas mileage Cons: 120 - 150 mile range, wants a couple minutes to warm up
If you are looking for a excellent value in a cruiser, this S50 deserves serious consideration. As cruisers go, it is rather small but it would be a mistake to think of is as a "little" bike. At about 450 lbs, the 800 cc can easily push the bike to ...
Pros: Style, bang for the buck, power Cons: No tach, a 6th gear would be a plus
OK, I'm 53, a bit overweight, and the closest I've come to a bike in 30+ years is "Two-Wheel Tuesday" on the Speed Channel. I knew I wanted a shaft-drive for low maintenance, wanted a bike that I could flat-foot at the stoplights, so I surfed ...
Pros: Beautiful lines, classy look, low seat, small enough tank to squeeze with my knees Cons: squeaky brakes - that's all
The minute I saw this bike, I knew it was the one for me. Finally! Being only 5'2" , I "tried on" many bikes, including Harley sportster - and either I couldn't touch the ground, or the tank would be too big, or the battery would be in the way - BUT THIS BIKE FITS. And it's so pretty.
Pros: plenty of power, light, quick on the lean, good lookin', and good low seat. Cons: Cold start, squeaky front brakes, no tac, and no cupholder... haha
I had been looking up bikes for a long time, looking for something used at a good price. I work with a guy who had just purchased a new S50 from the local dealer, and when I saw it, I was hooked. Mid last January I found a used 2005 in the showroom, took me two visits and she was mine. Other then a little bit of dirtbiking, my experience as a rider was minimal. Lucky for me I live on an acreage and burned up a whole gas tank just learning how the bike handled without hitting the highway. after one season I put on almost 4000 Km on my S50 and it has given me no problems at all. Other than some of the small quirks that other posters have mentioned, such as, cold start, and squeaky front brake, I am loving it!
