Pros: Excellent virus, worm, and trojan protection. Good spyware protection. Cons: Big hit on system overhead, useless Norton Protection Center.
Preface I've been using some form of Norton Antivirus ever since just after its inception back in 1990. Along the way I've tried McAfee, AVG, and several others with mixed results. McAfee, which started in 1992, seemed great in the mid-90's ...
Pros: Nice packaging, Easy installation, Makes users think they're getting a lot for their money. Cons: Bloated code, Will cut performance in half, Mediocre scanning engine, some viruses get through.
Where do I begin.. There's so much I could factually say to dissuade the use of this horrible horrible joke of an antivirus solution. So lets stick to the information most people will find most relevant to their decision about what antivirus solution to ...
Pros: The best on the market, previous edition problems resolved. A good buy for the money. Cons: Not an end to virus problems, works best in conjunction with Microsoft Windows® Antispyware.
Protect & Destroy Computing Virus Wars in the 21st Century I first started using computers back in the early 80's where there was a community of those who connected their computers together with modems. This was when you were lucky to have a hard ...
Pros: Traditional Scanning Features Work Fine Cons: Very Awkward User Interface, Annoying Alerts, Some Features Cannot be Removed
Don't get me wrong here. I have been purchasing Norton AntiVirus for a number of years now, and in the past I have never had any notable problems. But Symantec's 2006 Norton AntiVirus (NAV) incarnation stands out as probably one of the worst in the NAV ...

security not only where virus problems are concerned by epi_dude ,Mar 16 '06
Pros: spy- and adware protection is included, also keyloggers can be recognized and removed Cons: is cheaper to buy it as a part of NIS than as a standalone app
I started using the latest edition of Norton Anti Virus a while ago (as part of NIS 06), and am quite satisfied with it. The daily updates ensure a safe and stable system, that allows me to work unharmed from all that is trying to infiltrate and destroy my computer. In addition to the virus protection, the tool is also taking on spyware and adware that have started to frequently (at least try to) take over my pc. And whilst I dont consider myself a target, it is good to know that even the more elaborate tools like keyloggers will be taken care of.
Anti Virus offers a full-fledged solution against all kind of programs that could try and infiltrate your computer without you even being aware of it. I try not to appear paranoid, but everyone who has ever found an old virus that went undetected for a while or who even lost important data due to an attack knows how important it is to secure yourself against this stuff.
Because of their dirty licensing policies and poor performance and use of computer resources we DO NOT recommend Norton AntiVirus. BitDefender is a much better choice.
Symantec makes it very difficult to uninstall Norton Antivirus particularly when the license expires. As ZD-Net UK author Robert Vamosi points out, it takes a great deal of time and suffering to locate Symantecs uninstall tool at their WEB site.
Because of their policies, we wont use, nor recommend, Symantec Products & Services.
