Pros: Excellent menu design, large anti-skip buffer, solid overall design Cons: Only MP3 and CDA files, no flash ROM for firmware upgrade, cheaper options
I first reviewed this under the TDK MOJO MP3-CD Player at epinions but almost a half year has passed and epinions added this section. Time to update this review seeing that several new options have appeared in the MP3 hardware world.
Pros: Excellent menu system, sturdy design, CD-R/RW storage, large anti-skip buffer Cons: firmware NOT upgradable, too much competition now, only MP3 and CDA support... no WMA!
The RioVolt isn't alone out there... that once weak world of CD-MP3 players has been dominated totally by the RioVolt/Soul Player. RioVolt browbeat all the rest of the competition into faint memory... however, the competition doesn't like to lie on...
Pros: Great design, remote control and great player too. Cons: Still no WMA support, short battery life compared to Sony.
Now that I have myself one of those MP3 CD players for my car, now I need one that I could really use outside the car and the home, or even up at my resort home near Sudbury, ON. But this time, instead of those that offer the FM tuner or that they just...
Pros: Easy MP3 searching, long EPS times for both audio CDs and MP3 Cons: No WMA support, no inline remote, firmware is not upgradeable, battery hog
TDK's CDMP3-12 (Mojo Digital Jukebox) is the latest entry into the world of CD-MP3 players. How is it separating itself from the competition? The Mojo emphasizes a new, easy-to-use interface for finding your songs. And TDK delivers with a great...
Pros: cool backlit LCD, many options Cons: SHORT! battery life:(
I was either gonna go with Sony or TDK. I spent about an hour in the store just staring at both Sony D-CJ506CK and TDK Mojo 620, meticulously dissecting every inch of their design, within the limits of their sealed plastic packagings. If I had the money...
Pros: Flexible unit, great remote, easy to learn & use, fairly robust design Cons: Not designed for album playback, some minor "buggy" behavior, a bit bulky
Simply put, this is a great little unit. It's not something you'll build your home stereo around, but it's excellent for morning commutes, long drives and plane flights.
I'm picky with my music, and like to have a big selection. With this...
Pros: Support for lyrics, power-saving spindown while playing, only 2 AA's Cons: Doesn't support WMA or mp3PRO (but upgradable!), battery troubles.
This thing is simply awesome. Its flash ROM is upgradable and it even lets you edit the startup screen. It has a memory for up to 10 CDs so it doesn't have to spend an entire hour cataloging the CD every time you turn it on. You can pick exactly what...
Pros: Great MP3 format support, Excellent display. Decent organization Cons: Can't scan. No resume play. Poor navigation decision.
I waited a while before purchasing an MP3 player because I wanted the products to mature. I purchased a cheapo MP3 player and returned it a week later because it had difficulty playing back some MP3s with strange bit rates.
Pros: Skip Free, good construction, intuitive controls, good sound, good display Cons: no remote, not upgradeable, slightly bulky, plain design, weird DC port, cannot scan MP3 files
Introduction
I've been looking for a CD-MP3 player for quite some time now. Since I've just got a 24x10x40x CD-RW drive, I can really take advantage of it with this player. I've used a solid-state (memory card based) MP3 player...
Pros: extremely easy to use, great navigation system, perfect for on the go listening Cons: major battery hog, confusing software, cheap make, ugly
I've had quite a few experiences with bad CD players in my time. Last week, my third Philips CD player went berzerk and died, leaving me with a very important decision, in my opinion: what CD player to buy?
Pros: Great Price, Smart Features, Slick, and 8 MINUTES ANTISKIP. Cons: A tad bulky, and lacking in a second navigation via headphone cord.
Popped in a CD with 100 songs including rock, rap, blues, electronic and classical. Everything sounded GREAT, except for the N'STINK song that mysteriously got on. Ok, I put it there, but out of curiosity. Ok, I like it. The things I know you want to ...
Pros: Great anti-skip buffer, good build quality, good LCD display, good battery life Cons: None that I've found yet
I received the TDK Mojo MP3-CD player as a Christmas gift in December of 2001. It came with a pair of TDK over-the-ear headphones (the kind that have the ring by your neck, instead of on top of your head), a pair of AA batteries, and an AC power...
Pros: great MP3 performance, good battery life, easy navigation Cons: horrific audio CD (CDDA) performance
I bought this player because I thought I'd get the best of both worlds: MP3 CDs for long-play mixes and audio CDs for the bulk of my CD collection. I thought about getting a hard-drive based MP3 player but didn't want to foot the bill and then not be...
Pros: cool backlit display, lots of menu-driven features, plenty of volume Cons: problematic operation (see review); comparatively short battery life
I purchased the Mojo, along with competing models from Samsung and Panasonic, with the idea in mind that I'd return two and keep my favorite. (None of the stores offer an in-store demo model - all three stores offered a 30-day money-back guarantee.)...
Pros: Great indexing system Cons: Slow startup, short battery life
I bought the TDK Mojo 620 as my first ever MP3 player, and I was actually pleasently surprised. The Mojo fulfilled (and still fulfills) my expectations.
It plays all of my MP3 files, it hardly ever skips a beat (When it does, it's because of...
Pros: Great Mobility & Functionality, LCD Backlit Display with Artist/Title!!
Great for the car!! Cons: Battery Juice (Invest in Rechargables)
A bit bulky,
After months of scrutinizing work in trying to find a portable mp3 player, I found the TDK Mojo. I couldn't be happier with it. I bought mine online for well under the list price (thanks to a rebate). I basically wanted an mp3 player that I could take in...
Pros: LyricSync, Colors, Price Cons: Size, no M3U support, uses power quickly, buggy software, heavy
The TDK Mojo 620 is a cheap but perhaps not worth it CD MP3 player. I found it for $70, so I figured that it was well worth my money. When it came in the mail, I was excited and opened it straightaway. The colors are nice, and the earphones are actuall ...
Pros: Jukebox-style navigation; decent interface; eight-minute skip protection. Cons: Glitchy software, no remote, carrying case, or FM radio.
Until now, MP3 CD players have shared a disadvantage in the area of navigation, when compared to flash memory or hard drive-based MP3 players. Dealing with 150 songs per CD is no easy task, especially when you consider that the track information comes...
Pros: MP3 Playability with ease Cons: Extra programs- plus or bother?
I was given my Mojo player as a birthday gift. I must have been a good girl.
I had been wanting a portable CD/MP3 player, so this fit the bill. One of the features I love about it is the screen. Glows bright blue, easy to read, and displays all...
Pros: Many Features, Options. Well built, great sound quality. Cons: The software can get confusing
During the past few years, I have looked at numerous MP3 players. The concept shocked me when I first learned about it. Today, this technology is nothing new, in fact it has greatly surpassed the mp3 players of yesterday. This product is the latest of...
Pros: cool design, nice display, excelent navigation, and it lets u organize youre music Cons: it eats batteries, doesnt have internal charger, and it doesnt suport WMA
after some hard research on a way of taking my music collection portable i selected the TDK 620 mojo, of varios products like minidisc players, flash memory players and hard drive based mp3 players (although these in mi opinion are better but cost 300$...
Pros: Sound quality. Remote control feature. Cons: Battery life. "Chirps" playing some MP3s. Skipping.
I bought a TDK Mojo 620 early in 2002. While I was initially impressed with the product, I started discovering some issues that disrupted my enjoyment of it: The sound quality is terrific, for both regular CDs and MP3. But if you play MP3s with a rate ...
Pros: super-easy navigation; separate lines for title and artist; shows bitrate; easy playlist construction; sound quality Cons: CANNOT SCAN WITHIN MP3 FILES
I bought the TDK Mojo in May 2001, and returned it a month later.
The player itself worked great, sounded great, and was a blast to use. EXCEPT for the one flaw that made me return it: you cannot scan forward/backward within a song (MP3 that is,...
Pros: Good controls. sound is ok about three hours on two AA's Cons: Very limited warranty.
Overall a good unit. Price is on the top end unit should be more robust play longer maybe four AA's instead of two and should carry a much better warranty. Player is hard to hold on to you would think TDK wants you to drop it. Mine has not been droped...
Pros: Go Anywhere, no limited hard drive space Cons: No car adapter. The playlists may take awhile to figure out.
I have had my TDK MOJO for about a year now. It is a great player once you get the play-lists figured out. It is nice to be able to take as many CD's with me as I want and not have to worry about running out of hard drive space.
skips a lot just walking... by joann_dt3000 ,Jan 15 '03
skips a lot just walking down the street. it had to be totally still to play well. Mine would heat up and turn off after about 45 minutes, so sure- in theory it may have played for 10 hr on the batteries, but only in Antarctica! After aboutn 8 months the motor burned out and it just whirrs without playing.
i have had this player for about 6 months, i use it at work in an industrial environment, i work in a factory. I am able to play cds that i have made in windows xp just fine, it all depends on the program that is used. If the xp default program is used that may not work, use a good programs called nero or better roxio easy cd creator. I bought this play for 120 dollars at the time and i have been happy with it ever since, never had any quality problems or "clicks" every 25 seconds. it all depends on the quality of the media being used and the burning that media. CD-RW's WILL WORK just fine. the player takes a little longer time to load them initially but once its loaded its solid. GOOD PRODUCT, GOOD BUY, WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS!!!
Extremely disappointed with the player... by jerrytc_dt3000 ,Dec 13 '02
Extremely disappointed with the player sound quality, headphones, customer support and worst of all, it doesn't play MP3 CDs burned on Windows XP.
You'll know if you have the MP3 problem when Mojo skips every 25 seconds of a track. Hence, 25 seconds into a song, you'll hear an audible click. Every 25 seconds later, you'll hear the same click. It gets very annoying and I don't use the player anymore.
With regards to the MP3 issue, if you check their web site, they admit as much. It suggest that you use a 3rd party software to burn the CDs and not use XP's Windows Media Player to burn it. I used Easy CD Creator's software (which is one of the most popular burning apps) to create my MP3 CDs and it still doesn't work. I also had an older MP3 CD burned on Windows NT which also does not play on Mojo.
I e-mailed TDK twice about the problems but each time, I got the same auto-reply answer which offered no help.
