Pros: Beautiful grounds, conference facilities Cons: Disappointing rooms; incredibly confusing layout; mediocre food
Last weekend (April 12), I attended a family wedding at the Dolce Tarrytown House hotel in Tarrytown, NY. Virtually all of the wedding guests stayed overnight at the hotel, where the reception, the "after party", and a morning-after brunch were all...

Pros: Amenitites, decorum, atmosphere, breakfast, sportscenter, landscaping Cons: Large grounds, hard to for some to walk, semi-confusing layout
Tarrytown is a virtually unknown town in Westchester, NY. More famous is Sleepy Hollow of Ichabod's stories. Either way, both of these villages (yes, they're small enough to be villages) are quaint and cozy. But given their proximity to New York City, ...

Pros: Beautiful inside and out, convenient, great food, great service Cons: Expensive, confusing lay-out, many stairs

DON'T HAVE SPECIAL EVENTS OR WEDDINGS HERE
by op9160 ,Nov 17 '05
Pros: Grounds are pretty Cons: Service is horrible. Hotel and event space is old and worn.
I haven't been there for a conference although I have heard from others that it's fine although a bit run down. If you walk through the hotel you can tell it really needs an overhaul. Rooms, rugs, blankets look a bit worn.
The biggest problem I have would be with their special events. I have been to a wedding there - my sister's - and they don't know how to do a nice, elegant wedding. The Biddle House is OK at night, but if you go during the day you will see that some of the paint is chipping and little things will come out because it's old. The grounds are pretty but they don't know how to educate their staff on service.
If you want to go to Tarrytown or Westchester for special events, there are plenty of other places - Castle on Hudson or Tappan Hill.
