Pros: EXCELLENT food Cons: pretty slow service, very cramped seating, some very expensive meals
We recently went to Florida including the Hollywood area near Ft. Lauderdale. Just a short 3-minute walk from my hotel was Taverna Opa. We decided to drive there because we were planning on driving to Ft. Lauderdale after eating. Taverna Opa only has vale ...
Pros: Great atmosphere, Authentic Greek fare, Fun, Reasonably Priced Cons: Can be noisy, and warm in Mid-August Florida.
Taverna Opa is a place for great food, great drinks, and great fun. There are locations on South Beach (3640 Ocean Dr), Hollywood (410 N.Ocean Dr), and Ft. Lauderdale (3051 N.E. 32nd. Ave). It might seem somewhat "gimmicky" at first if you are a ...
Pros: Great Food, Quick service once youve ordered, & Belly Dancers dancing on your own table! Cons: Long waits, very loud music, expensive
This place in an institution! My friends and I have been here about a dozen times, so take it from me, I know what Im talking about with this one. Where to begin, Parking is a mess! There is no self-parking to my knowledge. The later you go the ...
Pros: Atmosphere and authentic theme great food Cons: Call ahead for reservations and to understand and estimate bill
It was my first experience with "The Big Fat Greek Treatment" Wow they really do know how to party! Where else can 22 people go to party as one group? We felt like we owned the place, it was all about us. From the moment we sat down until we left we ...
Pros: Decent atmosphere Cons: Rude staff, Total Chaos, dirty bare feet on tables, tourist trap
We heard good things about this restaurant from quite a few people so we decided to go on a Saturday night. Big mistake! It was total chaos, there is no sign in, only some nondescript guy named George who goes out of his way not to divulge information. ...
Pros: Excellent service, casual and fun atmosphere, great music, ridiculously tasty food! Cons: They're not open all night!
Let me just say that this place is amazing! The staff is friendly and efficient, the atmosphere casual and inviting, and the food is just to die for! The bread tasted like it had just been baked and the waiter actually mashed the chickpeas and spices into hummus right in front of our table! It was the best hummus I have ever had...it had just the right amount of garlic and spices and I don't even like hummus when I buy it in the store! The Greek salad was unbelievably fresh and the dressing they use had to have been made in house cause I have never had anything like it. For my entree I had lamb and Greek lemon potatoes which I highly recommend to anyone who visits. If you have never had lamb before this is the place to try it because you will not be disappointed. It was tender and delicious, I couldn't believe I was able to finish the entire entree, but I couldn't stop once I started...it was just too good! Check this place out, it is fabulous!!! PS. The gorgeous waiters dancing on tables aren't so bad on the eyes either!!!
Pros: The lamb, the wine, the belly-Dancers! OPA!! Cons: Menu is very greek, will have to read descriptions.
Located on N. Hight st. near german village in Columbus Ohio, exists a wonderfully tempting array of exotic Greek offerings. Here it is authentic Greek. The Lamb is divine. They carry exclusively Greek wines, and many of them, yum! Friday and Saturday nights here at the Columbus location also do offer Belly dancing and genuine Greek music to suit. Reservations are the best route for a weekend experience that you indeed wont forget. Each plate is cooked by a gourmet chef who puts his greek soul into every dish. The Keftethes (greek meatballs) and the Saganaki ('Flaming'cheese) are spectacular. The menu is extensive and you will be sure to leave happy and fulfilled. The atmosphere is unbeatable, and in warmer months, there is a huge veranda/patio/terrace where you can wine and dine for the evening. I highly recommend stopping by if you are near columbus. Phenomenal Food by far!
They could not even cook lamb correctly by michael1946 ,Dec 07 '05
Pros: Nice view. Fun atmosphere. Really for young kids on a date Cons: Terrible food . Unprofessional ownership.
Taverna Opa Ft.Lauderdale was visited on December 3 2005 for a birthday celebration. It was absolutely terrible and what made it worse was that the owner/manager handled our dissatisfaction as if we were trying to get a free meal. He could not handle things correctly and ended up walking away. All we wanted was a good meal.
Our lamb was either like shoe leather or raw. Potatoes were cold. Seats were metal like a cafeteria.
I would advise anyone wanting good Greek food to stay away..A rip off tourist trap with so much business they could not care a less.
South Florida Top 3 According to Sun Sentinel - They got it wrong ! by epinionsguest ,Nov 11 '09
Pros: Clean, food excellence par none, exceptional owner supervised service. Cons: Party atmosphere loud and boisterous after 7:30 PM, Food service slightly longer than average.
I recently read Sun Sentinel's picks for the Top 3 Restaurants. Since I am a member of Epinions, I like to let you know, that I disagree. I am a regular customer of all 3 since I live in the area. However, though I only go to the Fort Lauderdale Opa when I have Company because of the party atmosphere, if I have my choice I would eat there every day. Their deep fried pound and a half fresh snappers, their soup, their Octapus, ... I challenge anyone to find better - even in Greece. I have also read in Sun Sentinel that this Restaurant according to the Health Department has been consistantly the Cleanest in South Florida with only 2 technical violations, compared to an avearge of 22 for all other establishments.
