Taylor 310CE: Does it Really Sound Better than the Basic Taylor 310?

by Horswispr Horswispr is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Musical Instruments, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Apr 11 '02
Pros: Excellent playability, responsiveness, and tone; built-in high quality electronics
Cons: Sound not quite as "bold" as Martin's dreadnoughts
The Taylor 310CE is the cutaway electric version of the Taylor 310, which is one of the most popular guitars in Taylor's excellent line of acoustic guitars. Just for the record, for those of you who have already read reviews of the basic Taylor 310, the p ...

Flash is Trash

by chaospump , Mar 08 '03
Pros: Warm, bright, and beautiful
Cons: None yet detected
the quick and dirty:

No tortoiseshell rosette around the sound hole. No abalone fret markers shaped into birds or dragons. No whimsical etchings on the pickguard, no inlays of any kind save for the simple pearl dot fret markers. This guitar...

'Taylor' Made for You.

by bmatz , Jul 31 '02
Pros: gorgeous, brilliant sound (particularly low end), design and playability, excellent electronics
Cons: none. literally, you can't criticize this guitar.
Prior to my experience with the Taylor 310ce Dreadnought, I had played, and continue to play many guitars. Some I own, some I do not. Some I'd like to own, but don't need, others I know I don't need and don't buy. But the Taylor 310ce I own. And...

A Sound Bigger Than Its Price Tag

Pros: One of Taylor's Very "Best Buys"
Cons: none
310-MCE 25th Anniversary

I am reviewing the 25th Anniversary 310-MCE which were made in 1999. The primary differences between it and a standard 310-CE are in appearance and tone. The M stands for Mahogany and this guitar has a gloss,...

My new best friend

by jonniebock , Sep 05 '02
Pros: Lively sound, easy playability, excellent electronics, beautiful woods.
Cons: None.
I have been playing guitar for over 15 years, and for the duration of that time my only 6-string acoustic guitar has been an old fender plywood top. Having recently started making a real paycheck, I decided that it was time to invest in a real acoustic...

all I will ever need...
by screaminhugger ,Dec 13 '06
Pros: The sound, tone, volume, and over all quality. The es system.
Cons: None.
I purchased this guitar as a "fall limited" back in '03 before they were putting the es on all of the models. they offered it on this 310ce as a limited. A friend of mine has an older 410ce, (mahogony and spruce, all satin finish) that he loves and recomended the Taylor to me. After 3 years I can say that this is a "perfect" guitar for all occasions and situations. I am a classroom music teacher and this guitar has traveled alot! I also play small venue pubs and coffee houses 3 or 4 nights a month. It has held up very well, when you see the case, you don't expect to see a guitar in this good a conditon when you open it. At first this guitar seems very "bright and punchy", almost too bright, but give it time...after 3 years this one has "opened up" quite a bit and it simply sings now! I find it's only weakness to be when I try to finger pick with it, but then again a dread, is not designed for that use.

A change of opinion
by epid123 ,Jun 27 '06
Pros: Give the ES a little time to figure it out.
Cons: Body is sensitive to sounds like arms moving over wood this comes through the amp
I wrote a review on my Taylor 310 ce L7 after I had trouble with the ES sensors and preamp. I sent it to the factory and it was repaired, but at first I still did not trust it. Now that some time has passed, I have gotten more comfortable with the ES, and after getting used to it, and feeling like it will work each time I plug it in, I have changed my mind from negative to positive. In the end, we all have our opinions and this is just mine, go out and try it out, unplugged, and plugged in. If my Expression System hadn't failed, I would have nothing but positive comments. I just never had a guitar "go bad" before, and like I said in my earlier review, Taylor Customer Service was fantastic. My Taylor 310ce L7? It's a keeper now. Phil B. in southern Indiana

Uh Well, All I Can Say Is Awesome Guitar
by freemr ,Aug 01 '06
Pros: The whole guitar is the best I've ever played with over 20 years of playing!
Cons: None - A great value for a guitar that will last a lifetime!
The slim waisted Taylor 510 ce slips into your lap like a fine woman! The guitar is a full dread with beautiful appointments and top notch Taylor quality. Even on the interior you cannot see a glue mark - remarkable. The guitar's body is beautifully selected Solid Tropical American Mohoganey with a gorgeouse mellow Engleman Spruce Soundboard with a nice rosette with koa inlays surrounding the soundhole. The finish is spectacular and the electronics nicely blended to form an instrument of true beuaty and quality.
