Taylor Thermometer Won't Play Hard Ball With Your Precious Pralines!

by kcfoxy Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jun 13 '02
Pros: Easy-clean; clips on side of your pots and pans.
Cons: This baby is still hot!
Has it truly been a decade now that I've been learning cooking lore at the checkered pants knee of Mr. Professional Cook? Well, even though he's traded his hot pads and aprons for the wheel of a Big Rig some lessons have remained. Like checking expensive...

Taylor Canning & Deep Fry Thermometer: When Accuracy Counts

Defective and not worth the money.
by thetexasblonde ,Aug 13 '07
Pros: The bulb is protected from touching the bottom of the pan.
Cons: Ink used to print numbers and name wipes off. Defective.
I cannot believe others have not written a con review of this product. I have used my three times to fry fish. While it does a beautiful job of showing the temperature of the oil, the printing on the product is defective. Cleaning the thermometer with a soft rag after it is cool has resulted in the numbers showing the heat wiping off. Even most of the name at the top of the thermometer has disappeared.

I know I am not the only person who has had this experience since I saw most of the numbers had disappeared from the one Ina Garten used in one of her Barefoot Contessa episodes.

In my opinion it is a defective product and I could have bought six of the cheap glass candy/frying thermometers for the price that one of these costs.
