Pros: accurate and well marked Cons: none
Anyone who has ever made a homemade candy can tell you that it is an act of love. The temperatures are high and it is not unusual for persons just starting out to get burned when the addition of butter causes sugars to foam and spatter. However, it is a...

Pros: Metal protects glass tube, easy read, heat stages marked (soft ball, hard crack, etc.) Cons: none
In a world that offers more "disposable" items every day, I prefer to not spend any "disposable income" on sub par products. This is why, I have included the Taylor Canning & Deep Fry Thermometer as my one-and-only piece of clip-on, dip-in...

Pros: Easy-clean; clips on side of your pots and pans. Cons: This baby is still hot!

Defective and not worth the money.
by thetexasblonde ,Aug 13 '07
Pros: The bulb is protected from touching the bottom of the pan. Cons: Ink used to print numbers and name wipes off. Defective.
I cannot believe others have not written a con review of this product. I have used my three times to fry fish. While it does a beautiful job of showing the temperature of the oil, the printing on the product is defective. Cleaning the thermometer with a soft rag after it is cool has resulted in the numbers showing the heat wiping off. Even most of the name at the top of the thermometer has disappeared.
I know I am not the only person who has had this experience since I saw most of the numbers had disappeared from the one Ina Garten used in one of her Barefoot Contessa episodes.
In my opinion it is a defective product and I could have bought six of the cheap glass candy/frying thermometers for the price that one of these costs.
