Pros: Better than some Cons: Worse than many
I've just returned from the desert region of Andalucia, in Spain. What? You didn't know there was a desert there? Of course there is. It's called The Great Quality Beer Desert and I was marooned smack dab in the middle of it for two weeks. Let ...

Pros: Only nice thing I can say is that the can is unique. Enough said. Cons: Weak flavor. Plus: not enough information is provided by the brewer regarding this brand's production.

Pros: Very Accomodating Cons: Just Another Lager
Tecate is one of the more popular Mexican imported beers. It was first brewed in 1944 and it has climbed the sales ladder to become one of the top five Mexican imports to the United States.
Tecate has a weak, grainy smell, with a slight amount...

Pros: Light inoffensive everyday lager Cons: Light inoffensive everyday lager
I've often said that for every beer, there is an occasion, but to a lot of folks, the right occasion for ordinary, everyday, non-pretensious beers is...well...every day. That's the kind of niche that beers like Tecate fit into.

Pros: Good flavor, inexpensive Cons: Lacks complexity
Tecate is a fine, middle of the road lager from Mexico. A great beer? I wouldn't go that far, but then it isn't priced like one. Tecate averages around $5 a six pack in the Los Angeles area, and can frequently be found on sale for less than that. As ...

Pros: Cheap, easy drinking Cons: Straightforward, lacks a little hop
“Tecate is a pleasant Mexican community, where life centers around a tranquil tree-shaded plaza. The city is located about thirty miles east of Tijuana on the road to Mexicali. The biggest point of interest here, of course, is the Cuauhtémoc Brewery,...

Pros: How green grows thy garden? Cons: Bland, bland, bland...YEEECH!
Why is a light beer like making love in canoe? Give up? They're both f*cking close to water!
Some folks might think that was a joke. People who love beer as much as I do will recognize it as one of life's fundamental truths.

Pros: Magnificent companion to BBQ'd carne asada and a life lesson. Cons: The lessons of life can be really damn hard.
The traffic moving north along the 405 through the valley toward Valencia was lighter than normal for a Saturday morning, meaning that we would arrive at Oso's a bit earlier than expected. That would be fine, as in practical terms it meant we would have ...

Pros: smooth and balanced, easy drinking Cons: no “outstanding” flavor characteristics, light hops
Whenever I travel south of the border to Tijuana (California border town in the Baja Peninsula, Mexico, just south of San Diego), I like to relax at the bars that stretch along the Avenida Revolucion. The town of Tecate is only about 30 miles...

Pros: Light and Malty, Reasonably Priced and Available Cons: Slight metallic aftertaste, not a strong, memorable flavor
Tecate beer is popular in this part of the country. Many immigrants like this brew best of all. I've had it occasionally, it's like a everyday beer to many. It is more inexpensive than most of its Mexican competition. I don't necessarily mean that...

The world of Mexican beers is similar to the world of American beers. You have your microbrews, your small-town brews, and then you have your big-time breweries that advertise during every major sporting match. In Mexico these big time breweries are ...

Pros: Inexpensive, tasty, smoother than Bud or Miller Cons: Taste similar to many other mexican beers
As with many beers and flavors, one tends to acquire a taste balance which may seem a little unusual.
This is the case with Tecate and myself. I truly enjoy this light hearted beer with the tongue tantalizing flavors of mexican cuisine....

Pros: Light, refreshing, and crisp Cons: Only acceptable in the can
As an avid beer-drinker, I have acquired the habit of only drinking certain beers during certain seasons. While some beers are truly ideal for year-round consumption (Bass comes to mind), others must be strictly confined to a particular season. Such is...

Pros: CHEAP, good beer Cons: You can't drink it at work.

Pros: Goes down very smooth Cons: No cons

Pros: Light bodied Cons: Not much different then an American Macro

Okay, I'm not a big beer drinker, but sometimes when you are at a bar, and running low on cash, you end up drinking beer. Well, I do anyway. My parents have a beach house in Mexico. Whenever I go down there, I drink Midori Sours and Tecates. I swear,...

The quick, easy, no-holds-barred, tell-it-like-it-is, down and dirty, cut to the chase, fat lady singing story on this beer is that it's the best beer for Mexican food bar none. Period. End of story.

Tecate
by cheoelleon ,Apr 07 '06
Pros: great balance of flavor and economically priced Cons: you may have to find an out of the way market to get the prices.
Amigos! Let me tell you this is a fine beer. It has enough flavor to give it a unique personality yet not soo much that your left with the after taste. Usually you can catch it on sale in certain hispanic markets in your area, making it appealing to the wallet. Grab some clamato juice, limes and tapatio hot sauce for a real treat. Sometimes referred to this as blood beer however, I am familiar with a mexican term " cerbeza michelada". I am usually fond of import beers and this is one that stays in my fridge.
