Pros: Nothing better on the market Cons: Will take a long time to pay off
We had to use the warranty on our last Tempur-Pedic, and I swore it was my last. However, after buying a regular pillowtop mattress on our sleigh bed, I really missed the contour and luxury. My husband and I decided that our wood sleigh bed just ...
Pros: comfort, spouse's moves don't jiggle your side, 90 day money back Cons: price
WHAT I BOUGHT
I bought four pieces, all in extra long, to make one 'king size' bed: twin and full mattresses and adjustable foundations. I wanted this mattress forever, but waited 3 years before finally buying. And what made me buy it was that...
My husband and I had had our eyes on a Tempur-Pedic for about a year, but we were waiting to see just how big a dip it would take in our 7-year-old spring mattress before we would get a new bed. The dip became measurable in inches a few weeks ago so we ...
Pros: Incredible support, particular model was quick to acclimate to. Cons: Finding the right model for required needs.
I've had both a bad and now a good experience with Tempurpedic mattresses. It all seems to be in getting the correct mattress for your particular needs. A few years ago I purchased a Deluxe Tempurpedic mattress thinking it would help my severe back ...
Pros: Best matress ever.
Super comfortable
Totally adjustable to your perfect position. Cons: Holds Heat
Remote goes MIA
Split can cause some minor difficulties.
What we have: Split California King Adjustable (two bases, two mattresses) with comfort pillow(s). Okay, so we had a waterbed for years, mainly because I kick my foot in my sleep. Can't do springs, no matter if they are individually coiled or not. ...
Pros: Comfort, pain relief, vibrating massage, sheets fit well, jumping cat doesn't bother sleeping Cons: price, TEMPORARY odor (couple of hours), very heavy- have to pay for special delivery
As a critical care nurse, even at age 28, I tend to have a lot of back pain. Pulling up patients and turning them side to side, most of the pain occurs between my shoulder blades and my lower back. This bed takes the pressure off of any "one" point on ...
Pros: comfort, adjustable, pain relief, no more tossing and turning. Cons: pricey, takes a long time to get delivered, temporary chemical smell
My husband and I were in search of the perfect mattress and tried every mattress you can imagine, but couldn't find one that we both liked until we came across the Tempur-pedic beds. After trying all of their models, we decided on The Deluxe Bed with ...
Pros: So darn comfortable Cons: Smell (can't the company get rid of it before selling?)
Pricey
For years, we had a memory foam topper on our old way-too-firm mattress, and that helped, but the topper wasn't thick enough so I added a second topper. Even that couldn't compare with the real thing--a full memory foam mattress. We tried out all ...
Pros: dreamy sleep, solid company, great for reading/working or medical conditions, mattresses fit nicely together Cons: slight smell for 1 week, super expensive, will need custom bed linens
We had a high quality standard innerspring mattress that had worn out over the years. My husband suffers from GERD and has to use a wedge in the bed to sleep. Also, we only had a queen sized bed. Since he slept on the wedge, which took up 1/2 of the ...
Pros: Very warm in winter Cons: Back pain on waking most days.
We bought this bed 2 years ago because we thought it would help relieve our back pain. Unfortunately, it hasn't. I had less pain when sleeping on a 20 year old, less firm Serta frame & mattress. This excerpt about a study on mattress firmness and back ...
Pros: Everything. comfort especially Cons: price but worth it in the end.
I would not normally rate a product so soon after buying, but this bed is so wonderful! My husband and I both have bad backs and our previous bed was a disaster. This temper pedic adjustable bed is the best investment ever. Yes it is an expensive bed but ...
Pros: The memory foam concept great! No problems for me with the sheets! Cons: Price, A little steep compared to similar beds out there.
The whole concept of the memory foam molding to your every curve I know was marketed very well by Tempurpedic since the beginning (early 90’s?). I have to say, there are similar beds that I found after the fact that I bought the Tempurpedic that seem ...
Pros: Helps with pain Cons: Matress makes it hard to get out of bed Motors do not last at all.
We bought the two separate extra-long twin adjustable beds. The mattresses have helped with my back pain and we love the adjustable feature BUT we had the bed a bit less than 1 year and my husband's motor went out on his side. Given that he hardly ...
Very firm, better if you sleep on your back, strong chemical smell still after a week.
Works better without a sheet (like in the store) the bed conforms better, a sheet prevents the bed from conforming to you body.
Adjusting the bed to sit up is very comfortable, when watching TV
I sleep on my side a lot and move around a lot so the bed seems like it is always adjusting, conforming. If you move after it conforms it is a little uncomfortable until it reconforms.
You may like this bed, in the store try different positions.
Over all , I am having the bed returned, still looking for a replacement
Pros: best sleep ever; durability, warranty; no mites (from what I'm told) Cons: price (depends on how much you value a good night's sleep); some may find uncomfortable
My wife and I bought the Eastern King (two twin extra long matresses) and we both agree that this is the best sleep we have ever had. After laying on my sister's tempurpedic mattress (she had the same model but with the thicker mattresses), I was sold. It did take my wife about a week for her to get accustomed to the feel of the mattress but it was well worth the wait. I will usually fall asleep within a few minutes of laying down. I also suffer from severe sleep apnea and the mattress has greatly helped me feel much more rested along with my C-PAP. We've had family and friends come over and try the bed and it is always a challenge to get them off!! As far as sheets go, we usually buy queen sheets and get the sheet straps to keep them fitted on the mattress (twin extra long sheets are almost impossible to find).
It's best to try it out at a mattress store when considering and I believe they offer a 90 day in home trial also.
Husband loves it, Wife hated it by lauramarrs ,Jan 13 '04
Pros: Comfortable to some, avail. w/adjustable settings & massage, good warranty avail. Cons: $, hard to find XL sheets in store, hard & uncomfortable to some people
***MAKE SURE YOU GET A TRIAL PERIOD*** We tried a dbl adj twin XL=kg bed(Jan 7-16/04). Wife 130lbs-8 nts of no comfort-I've had it. Went back to the store & they gave us a softer mat to try on top of mine-I got through the night only to wake up w/more pain. I called Tempur. to find out if this was a normal reaction. Told that women sometimes take a little longer to adj to the feel then men because they are not usually as heavy. I just can't pay almost $5K for a bed that I have to get adjusted to. I want to get into a comfortable bed & go to sleep w/o waking in the night to have to move to the couch with lower back pain.
On the other side of the spectrum-
It took my husband(200lbs) 1 night to get use to the feeling & he loves it.
**Unfortunately there's 2 people it had to satisfy.**
Bottom line-this bed is good for some. A little high maintenance (breaking in, no elec blankets, chgs w/temp & shopping online for your sheets)& a little over-rated for the price you pay.
Pros: Best sleep I've gotten in my life!! Cons: A weird smell the first few months that disappeared after a while.
My husband and I are very different in height and weight. On traditional spring mattresses I would roll over on to his side all night long resulting in a very poor night of sleep... every night! Ever since we purchased the Tempur-Pedic Ive gotten the best sleep of my life!! We purchased ours about 2 years ago and have never been more satisfied with a product. Yes, it was pricy but worth every penny! Now that I am 7 months pregnant... Im seeing even more of a benefit. I wake up a few times a night to go to the restroom but have absolutely no problems with getting back to my much needed sleep. I don't wake up stiff or have had any back issues from sleeping. I LOVE THIS MATTRESS!
Pros: Sleep great. I love the quiet. Cons: The smell is not worth any sleeping benefit, breathing a strong chemical smell every night.
I sleep great on it but both my wife and I are very concerned about the smell. Very strong chemical smell. We have tried airing the bed out for a couple weeks now and no change. Luckily the company we bought the bed from has a 90 day return policy. My wife broke out in a rash which never has happened before. The bed is going back.
Mattress degrades/hurts over time & bad customer service by slichtma ,Nov 29 '05
Pros: Foam is a new feeling that you may respond to well short-run Cons: Performance degrades after few years to the point of creating pain. Customer Service is unresponsive.
I personally have had a terrible experience with a Tempur-Pedic mattress and, after doing some web research, see that 10-20% of T-P customers also have bad experiences similar to mine.
My Tempur-Pedic mattress performed as advertised for 2-3 years. Then the consistency of the "molding behavior" changed so that certain parts of my body sink lower and others are pushed up higher. This really hurts! I'm convinced it's the cause of major lower back pain (one of the areas pushed out of whack) I now have, because sleeping on a friends standard bed doesn't generate the problems. My doctor also has said that the bed is very prone to collecting allergens, which seems to give me lung-burn when waking up even though I've never experienced allergies in my life. (Aside from the Tempur-Pedic related issues, I'm healthy, athletic male in my 30s). When I called Tempur-Pedic to follow on their performance guarantee, it took several calls to get to someone who would respond to me. Then, I received very poor, "not our problem/can't respond" behavior. Better Business Bureau was unable to budge them. I hate the company and the bed now.
Pros: comfort beyond compare Cons: sometimes you have to sleep on ordinary beds
This system reduced my snoring, ended my acid reflux problems and provides the best nights sleep ever. We have owned water beds, air beds and high end mattresses and none of them even come close.
Once you use Tempur-Pedic, nothing else will do. by button-10 ,Jul 06 '05
Pros: Totally relieves back and muscle pain. Comfortableness allows deeper, longer, pain-free sleep. Cons: Took seven months for foam smell to dissipate. Comfortableness makes it effortful to get up.
We love this mattress. Two years ago we purchased the queen size. It is such a comfortable mattress that we bought a second one, full-size, for the spare bedroom. When the snoring is too loud, one of us retreats to the spare. Everything the Tempur-Pedic makers say about their mattress is true so be sure to go to their web site and read all the information. I would advise against buying a memory foam mattress made by any place other than the Tempur-Pedic (no, I do not own stock in the company nor do I work there). We tried different ones and the difference is not worth paying a lower price.
Will the smell ever go away? by joyce77 ,Jun 25 '05
Pros: Adjustable and comfortable (I think) Cons: Smell of new mattress
Its the most comfortable bed i've tried in the store. but after having for 2-4 weeks I STILL have NOT been able to sleep on it cause of the strong odor. I mean STRONG. Even going out to the smelly country smells better then the mattress. I can't wait to use it otherwise. I just hope the smell goes away. I look forward to using the adjustable bed sometime hopefully in the next few months.
Pros: No pressure points, no rolling into the middle, no sagging, no flipping of the mattress. Cons: It is hard to sleep on a mattress away from home.
We had an old mattress, then purchased an expensive mattress from another manufacturer that gave us pains that we never had before. We returned the mattress and got the Tempur-Pedic one. Within a few days of sleeping on the Tempur-Pedic mattress, both of us were pain free. I've had some back pain in the past, but it has since disappeared and I have not seen a chiropractor since we got the mattress. Some people say that the mattress is pricey but I do believe this was worth every penny. I've also saved one year of chiropractor visits, which would have cost more than the mattress. Soon after we got the Tempur-Pedic mattress, I became pregnant and I didn't have any back pain throughout the pregnancy. Also, my husband and I are over 100 lbs. apart in weight, so I don't roll to his side or in the middle and cannot tell when he gets in or out of the bed. I'd strongly recommend it for anyone with back or joint pain and anyone who is pregnant or is thinking about becoming pregnant. In summary, I can't say enough good things about this product.
Pros: AHHH... the sleep is great. No backpain. Just rrright. Cons: THE SHEETS! I can't find the right deep-pocket sheets for my bed.
I love this bed! (Queen-size) We bought it because we had a mattress that was over 10 yrs. old and we wanted to buy the best. No going back to crappy mattresses. I can't stand sleeping on anything else. I'm a tempur-pedic snob.
Because I can't write more in my con section...please note.
I don't like using those "strap things" on sheets because they don't work.
I want it to stay put and not slide off.
My mattress is thicker than most so it makes sheet shopping a hit and miss thing.
PLEASE!! I beg tempur-pedic to just sell some well-fitting sheets. I'd buy them in a second!
