Not impressed
by cajomano ,Oct 29 '06
Pros: Can't think of any after 5 years Cons: Sore backs; mattress extremely heavy, so hard to make.
We loved it at first, but after 5 years there is too much softening and we wake up with aching lower backs. It doesn't sag enough to trigger the warranty, so we feel as though we made a very expensive mistake.

I like it.
by leebrussell ,Jun 21 '04
Pros: Worth the money. Cons: Cost a lot.
I have owned mine for three years. I like it. Most house guests do like it. Some do not. It is in the same condition today as the day I received it. It weighs a lot and requires two people to move it as it flows like sand when you try to carry it.
Mine is a queen size matress that lies on top of the bed slats. This prevents the hammock complaints.
If I sleep on it for more than 9 hours I wake up with a sore back other wise I feel great.
Updated. It is now 28Jan05 and I still love this matress more than the day I got it!
1nov06 still love it so does my wife
Feb08 still like new!

big mistake
by dustyboy ,Oct 27 '06
Pros: people will be impressed with your bed. Cons: I wake up every morning in pain.
I couldn't wait to get my Tempur-Pedic. In fact, I was able to buy a bigger sized one even after the trial period had ended for just the difference in price. Big mistake.
For some reason there wasn't any overt problem during the free "try-out" window. Well, there sure is now. I wake up with all kinds of lower back ache. I experience the same pain even while laying in bed reading....after 5-10 minutes. I can't figure out why this situation didn't reveal itself earlier, when I could have sent it back. The company wouldn't budge an inch when I asked to return my mattress "too late". My chiropractor says he's heard of other complaints about the T-P. Apparently my opinion is in the minority, but it is what it is. I'm just trying to figure out a way I can recoup some of the money I spent on my "premiere" bed. Anybody want a very slightly used mattress ?

Don't buy into the hype
by bill_californi ,Dec 03 '06
Pros: none Cons: everything from mattress to customer support.
I bought the SolutionBed from Tempur Pedic. This bed was designed to help people with back pain. Well, now I have to sleep on my old sagging mattress to releave the additional pain this bed caused. The mattress doesn't support your body as advertised. Once you buy one, read the warranty. It clearly states that the mattress will lose its support over time and will become softer and softer. I called their customer support line complaining about the pain and the softness of the bed. They said once the bed is in used for 2-3 months, that is when the softness starts occurring. So much for that "like new" feeling for years and years. they won't take my mattress back or exchange because there is not an OBVIOUS sag in the mattress. Now I stuck with this piece of crap bed. Trust me, you will regret it if you pay $3K for a bed that doesn't do as advertised. It's all HYPED. So be careful.

Temporary-pedic
by mtalinm ,Feb 15 '04
Pros: Nothing. Cons: Does not work as advertised, very expensive, unknowledgable salespeople.
When I first bought this mattress, I thought it was great. Six months later, I can barely stand to sleep on it and have switched back to a conventional / firm mattress which is MUCH better for my back.
I was diagnosed with spinal arthritis last year and bought the mattress partially because of that. However, it has only worsened the condition. Now I sleep on a regular mattress and feel much better.

Supportive but very hot
by fabfuzz ,Jun 15 '09
Pros: Good back support. Cons: Too hot doesn't breathe. Raises AC costs.
We purchased a celebrity tempurpedic mattress set in November of 2007 with matching pillows. The total cost of the whole set including two pillows and a mattress cover was over $4000. One of my concerns purchasing this bed was how well it would breathe. I was assured by the salesperson that the bed would not have issues breathing. The winter, spring and fall sleeping on this bed has been great, but in the summertime it is just too darn hot. Having this bed has driven up our electricity bills substantially. I would not recommend this bed to anyone based on this. I have now found that over time the pillows are no longer providing as good head support. I have recently woken up a number of times with headaches, which didn't happen when these pillows were new.

Best mattress I ever had!
by ballsyjohn ,Jun 09 '04
Pros: super comfy, can't feel movements of others Cons: if it gets too cold the mattress tends to be a bit hard
I have had a King size Tempur-pedic mattress for a little over a year now. This is THE BEST mattress I have ever had. Everything they claim is true. It is expensive, but also has a great warranty. If anyone has problems sleeping or a back problems I highly recommend this bed. My husband always tossed & turned all night (keeping me up in the process) since the Tempur-pedic arrived he hasn't had any problems sleeping.

Like the Mattress
by teenadie ,Mar 16 '05
Pros: Comfortable, cozy, easy to sleep on. Cons: Don't have any yet.
After suffering for the last few years on a Sealy Posturepedic, we took the plunge and bought a Tempur-Pedic Deluxe king size mattress and foundation. My parents have had one for several years and are very happy with it. Since we have not had it for a full week yet, this is an early evaluation. First night was wonderful!! Haven't slept thru the night in a long time because of tossing and turning. Second morning--I woke up with a backache. However, the remainder of the nights have been good. I attribute the backache to something else, and no longer the bed. I am expecting many more restful nights!
However, I would suggest purchasing from an Ebay retailer, as we did. Saved $933 by NOT going with Tempur-Pedic or the local mattress store. (you can contact me for the e-mail of the person I purchased from) Ordered it on a Monday and it arrived on Friday. Warranty included. So there is no one to set it up---big deal. I really don't like anyone else in my bedroom anyway. My husband and son had no problem setting it up.
I will update in a few weeks.

We LOVE our Tempur-Pedic!
by whitewolf2 ,Jan 07 '07
Pros: No pressure points, feels like you are floating when you sleep. Amazingly comfortable! Cons: None.
This is the best mattress I have ever slept on and I have recommended it to all of our friends. I have back problems and arthritis and was in continual pain sleeping on our old Simmons Beautyrest mattress. We decided to give the Tempur-Pedic a try, and it was the best move we ever made! We have had it for 2.5 years now, and it is just a comfortable as ever--no softening or indentations of the foam. It does take a bit to warm up in the winter, but that isn't a problem for us--we like a cool room for sleeping, anyway. We do not find it to be hot in the summer, either.
It did smell when it first arrived, but that was gone after about a week.
We both have the Tempur-Pedic pillows, also, and I worry about dust mites. Is it possible to wash the pillows?

Worst Mattress We Had
by sebadaba ,Dec 13 '03
Pros: You don't tell the movement of the person who is sleeping next to you. Cons: Horrible customer service !!
This is the worst mattress we have ever slept on.
Despite of the expensive price and nicely made TV commercial, I would wake up and get out of bed because of the back pain. I hardly had good night sleep while we had Tempur-Pedic mattress.
My husband either. He eventually started sleeping on the couch instead of the mattress.
After 2 months, nothing changed so we returned it.
Beware!
The customer service at Tempur-Pedic is helpless !
They know nothing about the customers' account and could cause troubles with your financing plan.
If you'd like to purchase the mattress anyways,
don't buy directly from them.
Buy from the local retailer.
Now we sleep on Serta Perfect Sleeper Eurotop and absolutely love it.
It is so comfortable we can sleep longer ( I couldn't sleep more than 5 hours on Tempur-Pedic ) with no back pain !!
I love Serta !!

GREAT MATTRESS
by kldesq ,Mar 14 '04
Pros: Great night's sleep awaits you! Cons: nothing--although it is expensive
We've had a King Size tempurpedic mattress for a little over a year and love it. When it arrived it was literally frozen and took a good day to unthaw--which was weird--kinda like a pool table!
Once it thawed out it was and still is awesome. They say that it relieves pressure points and it is true. I find that I turn over less than with my old mattress which is great.
This mattress is very firm and also very soft at the same time, which is kinda hard to describe.
Another good thing is that it comes with a cover that zips over the mattress which also protects it. You never turn this mattress over--another good thing.
The Kings with the base is expensive--but worth it.

Comfort won't last long & warranty won't help
by binkyola ,Aug 25 '07
Pros: Easy to cut into pieces when you throw it away in three years Cons: Won't last very long. VERY expensive considering its usable life / Warranty won't help you.
We have owner a King Tempurpedic mattress for five years, and my wife and I were very happy with it (she called it the "magic bed") until about two years ago, when we noticed it had begun to lose its "rebound" qualities, and we found ourselves sinking right through the "memory foam", and into the middle layer - which is what you used to sleep on in summer camp (for those of you never went to summer here's a hint: not comfortable).
I had the same experience as others when I investigated returning it - the warranty doesn't cover the problem I encountered because the indentation Tempurpedic wants owners to measure is (1. a pain to measure since you have to wrestle the unwieldy and heavy mattress around to do so, and (2. not likely to be sufficient in depth to satisfy their requirements.

Second most uncomfortable bed we've had...
by deb321 ,Jan 01 '07
Pros: There aren't any pros, at least none that we've found. Cons: We hate this bed, it's hard and uncomfortable.
Clunky and hard to move, definitely need help when you want to turn/flip the mattress. Otherwise, the body of it is fine.

Didn't Work For Me
by jumbo623 ,Dec 20 '06
Pros: Appears to be very durable. Cons: Very little give to the mattress, in other words, as hard as a rock.
A couple of years ago, we were in the market for a new mattress and were considering Tempur-Pedic after all the hype on radio and TV. We couldn't find anywhere to test one, but fortunately for us, a relative bought one (I think they paid around $2k)and let us test it while we were visiting. After one night sleeping on it, we said "phooey"!! The bed was EXTREMELY hard and uncomfortable; both my wife and myself woke up with terrific backaches. It was sort of like sleeping on hard-packed sand. I was led to believe that the foam shapes itself to the individual's body shape, but I was appalled at the lack of support, no matter what position I slept in. It is true that the mattress doesn't transmit movement, but that is the only plus. We ended up buying a Select Comfort (Sleep Number) bed that has been fantastic; after over two years, there have been NO issues with air leaks.

So far so good - actually "Perfect"
by jewriffic ,Dec 30 '06
Pros: Significant increase in REM sleep. Cons: Bed at first slept "Hot". That has been resolved.
Its been a month since we first laid down on our Tepur-Pedic matress. King size - celebrity model with full heigth foundation.
Observastions to=date:
1. Increased REM sleep (both wife an I). We both consider this good - as a night of good REM sleep makes us both feel refreshed in the AM.
2. I will still (on occasion) wake up during the middle of the nigt. My time awake has been significantly reduced - I find it much easier to fall back asleep
3. Minor manufacturning odor was present only for the 1st week. We took no measures to help remove the odor - it left on its own after a week.
4. Maybe it was 'suggestion' (from reading other postings), but we did find the bed 'slept hot'. So we redueced the amount of blankets which solved the immediate problem. Interesting however isthat today we are back to using the same amount of covers as before.
Bottom line: This has,so far, proven to be one of the most wise investments my wife and I have made.
