Pros: Adventure, excitement, mature young adult behavior Cons: It's an intermediate book
When I was in about 5th grade my small town in Ohio acquired a branch of the county library courtesy of the local Rotary of which my father was a member. At this library was the full series of Walter Farley’s Black Stallion books. To say I devoured them...
Pros: action packed, not overly long Cons: none particularly
At the age of 12, I was keenly horse mad and also loved adventure stories, whether they be kids solving mysteries, or Cherry Ames going on some exotic nursing assignment, or an outing in the Star Wars universe. Imagine my great excitement when I ...
Pros: Adventure, horses, courage, horses, character, and last but not least, horses! Cons: Somewhat dated (written in the 40's).
Walter Farley's Black Stallion series begins with this book, which he began writing while still in high school. It was several decades old when I first read it, and will be even older by the time I pass it on to my children, but it should always endure...
Pros: Good clean books. Any age will enjoy Cons: Mr. Farley has passed away so there will be no more

Pros: Timeless Classic story . A entertaining today was when it was written Cons: None From Me
The Black Stallion was one of my favorites growing up and I was very pleased to see new editions of the entire series in the stores. What pleased me more was the fact that my son started reading it and enjoyed it as much as I did.
I think the fact...
Something happened to me in sixth grade, I'm not sure what, and I pretty much quit reading, at least for pleasure. I got that book, and it got me right back into reading and enjoying reading. I read every Black stallion book that I could get my hands on, and now I read all kinds of books.
