I bought this because I was looking for a nice, thick lotion to put on my hands at bedtime. This stuff is perfect for that purpose. I think it's a little heavy/greasy to use during the day, but it's great right before bed. The smell is subtle and pleasant. The only thing I don't care for is the packaging. The screw-on cap is kind of hard to get back on, especially when my hands are lubed up with the product! A flip-cap would be preferable. But overall, this is a fantastic product and I highly recommend it.

Although I try to be earth conscious, I wouldn't really consider myself an environmentalist. Yet here I am trying out some environment friendly hand cream. And my hands need it. With the weather changing from winter to spring, my hands have been pretty dry. I got a kit from The Body Shop and have had the chance to sample a couple products. I decided to give it a whirl and put some on. I think out of everything it came with this stuff is one of my favorites. So weird.

I just put a little sliver of this on my hands and they instantly feel better. It doesn't leave my hands so greasy that I can't function. I have no problem opening a door after I put this on. And it sticks with me until I wash my hands.

Beware-it does smell. If you are the type of person who cannot go into a candle store without being overwhelmed then the smell of this hand cream will probably get to you. Its a very potent woodsy smell. But I find that after a while I don't really notice it unless my hands are up by my nose.

My husband and I have been using this hand cream for the past two years and just love it. We've both big fans of Body Shop products, and this is one of our favorites.

We use wood heat in the wintertime, which causes terribly dry skin, even with the use of a humidifier. Considering that winter is also cold and flu season, when handwashing is more important (and harder on the hands) than ever, ours would completely dry out if not for this stuff.

A small bit of Hemp Hand Protector soothes irritated hands with a pleasant "unisex" scent that lingers for only a few moments. The non-greasy feel prevents the "where's a towel, I need to wipe my hands" effect that some hand creams have.

The package that other reviewers have seen as a "con" is an aluminum tube, similar to old-fashioned toothpaste tubes, that can be recycled along with soda cans. It's inconvenient to carry in a purse or cosmetic bag, because the tube is easily dented, but the concept is cool.

Pros: Nice packaging, environmentally sound
Cons: Smell is too much for me, and it isn't that great a moisturizer.

This is the Hemp (chanvre, if you are french) hand protector lotion, which comes in a nifty metallic tube that reminds me of my grandpa's hair pomeade.
I read the other reviews, and so wanted to 'go along with the crowd' that I tried the cream on my hands again tonight. Not only does it not help my hands as much as a cheaper, cocoa butter based lotion, but the smell is killing me.
Imagine walking into one of those stores, where the person at the cash register is wearing sandals and cutoffs, or is barefoot. Grateful Dead music is playing, and you can buy any number of tie-dyed shirts or jute-twine braided bracelets. The smell that wafts through the air, emanating from a little burning stick of incense...that is what this reminds me of, only it's stuck to your hands, and doesn't go away. It's very musky, and strong, and it's just not something that makes me feel beautiful in any way.
Unisex, maybe, but neither me nor my husband find it attractive in the least.
On the plus side, the package is recyclable, and it looks great sitting in a man's bathroom. There's always that.

Its warm, nutty fragrance is the first thing you'll notice. But then, you'll feel how soft and grease free your hands are.

Cons: Heavy, greasy and has a very strong scent.

I was given a tube of this lotion and I use it on my heels. It's the only lotion that I've ever used in my life that healed the dry, cracked skin on my feet. I've tried everything and this works like a miracle. It's heavy and greasy, so I use it at night or during the day if I can wear only socks.
I don't even need my foot file anymore. It's amazing.

I found this laying around a friend's car, tried it out, and had to go out and buy my own. It says for dry to very dry skin, but my skins normal and it still works great. I love the way it makes my hands feel.. very soft, but not oily or greasy. The smell is great. It comes in a 1.25 oz bottle for $8 and 3.34 oz bottle for $16. I got the smaller one (cheaper, fits in my purse). My favorite hand cream!
