Scrubbed me the wrong way!

by darkchild99 , Feb 04 '02
Pros: good exfoliator, cool to mix with favourite cleanser, no fragrance
Cons: a bit too harsh
I really gave this product a go because I am a fan of The Body Shop and when I bought the Japanese Washing grains I still believed that TBS could do no wrong. It was also one of the first exfoliators that I tried - it was the...

This is how you use Japanese Washing Grains!

by st3rlite , Apr 16 '02
Pros: Exfoliates well, simple ingredients, no comodogenic ingredients
Cons: no cons
I've tried a heap of exfoliants, not to mention skin care products, and in my search for a good exfoliant with no pore clogging ingredients, I came across Japanese Washing Grains.

They sound good, look organic and natural, and only contain one...

More beans, please.......

by skygirl Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 30 '00
Pros: no perfume, does its job
Cons: none
Ah hah!! Perhaps the azuki bean holds the "ancient secret" that keeps the Japanese women's skin so radiant......

Since there is a Body Shop in every airport these days, and the delays seem to keep getting longer and longer, I have...

Harsh exfoliator, and I'm allergic

by katiemccann Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Aug 19 '00
Pros: Gets off dead skin cells
Cons: Too harsh, may cause allergic reaction

I first tried the Body Shop's Japanese Washing Grains about 6 years ago. It was the first facial exfoliating product I had ever used, so I really didn't know what to expect. The Japanese Washing Grains did seem to exfoliate my skin well, so it...

I prefer to eat them!

by lucypiggie , Oct 26 '00
Pros: The actual bean is very yummy, but in pastries, not in this concoction
Cons: exfoliates a bit too harshly. Irritated my skin; no benefits to using azuki beans--could've been kidney beans, for all the difference it made.
I have a confession. When I was in college, I had this terrible habit of trying out my roommate's beauty products that she had on the bathroom sink. I would lock myself in the bathroom and begin to experiment with whatever new product she purchased....

Take a wet cup of sand and scrub...

by tenorqueen , Nov 15 '00
Pros: I didn't need that top layer of skin anyway
Cons: Millions of azuki beans died for this product
...and you'll find a product that is disturbingly similar to The Body Shop's Japanese Washing Grains!

The concept behind this product is that with a little water, you can create an amazing all-natural exfoliating paste that will renew your...

Still Around?

by polar_chu , Aug 30 '00
Pros: Powder form
Cons: Doesn't work
I first tried Japanese Washing Grains in 1993, and I've actually not seen this product on the shelves in a while...so perhaps it's being gradually discontinued?

This is not a great exfoliator--I think when the product first came out it...

Not One of My Favorites...

by depaola1 , Aug 23 '00
Pros: no residue left on skin after rinsing, has exfoliation properties
Cons: messy, stinky, texture is too rough
I usually like most products from The Body Shop, but the Japanese Washing Grains are all washed up!

I purchased this product as an impulse purchase. I'm a self-professed cosmetic junky.

The Japanese Washing Grains are made from...

I wish they'd bring it back!

by kansaskate , Feb 25 '02
Pros: Exfoliates; controls oil; removes blackheads; leaves skin very smooth
Cons: Discontinued
As a teenager in the 1970's, I used Helena Rubenstein's washing grains. They were WONDERFUL. I never found anything as good until 20 years later when I tried the Body Shop's Japanese Washing Grains. They too are WONDERFUL.

I bought the...

Wonderful gentle facial scrub

by justjulia , Sep 20 '00
Pros: long lasting, not harsh
Cons: need to rinse very thoroughly
I have to say that the Japanese washing grains is one of my favorite facial scrubs. You shake a little into the palm of your hand and combine it with a squirt of cleanser or a bit of water to make a paste. I like to add enough liquid so that it's...
