Pros: Well-written, useful for illustrating how to write offensive and bad arguments Cons: Weak thesis, black/white & us/them mentality, fearful & antagonistic tone, overly-simplified world view, repetitious
After I was done reading The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order, I couldn't help but think, "Wow.. this is such a bad perspective yet there are people who will read this and believe every single word of it." When I ...
Pros: A thought-provoking analysis of current political events Cons: A very shaky thesis that the book fails to substantiate
In his 1996, 320-page best-seller "The Clash of Civilizations", Harvard professor Samuel P. Huntington argues that the decades to come will be shaped by military conflicts between civilizational blocs. Judging by the post-2001 events, he may well be ...
Pros: Well written, thought provoking Cons: Some fault in the analysis
As editor of Foreign Affairs magazine, a chair at Harvard, and a leading Realist thinker, Samuel Huntington is one of the most influential public figures in the area of International Relations theory and prognostication. His most recent release, The...
Pros: good subject, challenging explanations Cons: simplified classification, book is full of personal opinions

He for example describes Asia as being shaped by Confucianism but in fact Confucius is of...
Pros: Provides a convincing theory to understand politics and international relations in the 21st Century. Cons: Very few. The book is a few years old but it holds up EXTREMELY well.
Strong praise, I realize, but this is a book that has you nodding in agreement as you turn every page. What probably seemed parochial and very un-PC six years ago rings so true in the post 9/11 world.
Pros: good facts, great for conversation, good for school work, useful information Cons: Long........
I would recommend this book, as I have to some people, who have way too much time on their hands and nothing better to do. not that it was a bad book, but Sameul huntington did a great job combining a TON of facts and stuff into one book. I had to read it for my debate class, well I chose it out of a list. I enjoyed, for some reason I actually read the whole thing, but I actually think IT WOULD BE A GREAT BOOK TO LEARN HOW TO SKIM-READ ON!!!! but over all it was good, and interesting, and you learn a lot and puts things into perspective. I'd read it if you have time.
