Irony is not dead. It just went home. America that is.

by jeff_wilder78 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jan 22 '05
Pros: Hilarious offend-all satire from Jon and the Daily Show.
Cons: The one textbook you can write in yet don't want to write in.
The Daily Show is easily the best reason for owning a TV set these days. In this age of colorless political sniping and ideologues on all sides, it's rare to find a program that takes an irreverent look at politics and the news and even rarer to find one ...

Mfunk75 (The Reviewer) Goes Historical With America (The Book)

by mfunk75 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Oct 14 '04
Pros: All the joys of The Daily Show, without those pesky commercials
Cons: Moments after taking the front cover picture, Jon was pecked to death by that eagle
If you're like me, you're: -male -29-years old -Canadian -an active reviewer of movies, and other pop-cultural ephemera, on Epinions.com -carved out of granite …and, most relevant to this particular review… -a rabid fan of television's "The ...

The Most Important Fake Textbook ... Ever

by epogurl , Oct 21 '04
Pros: the wonderful wit, the format, the extras, all of it
Cons: Chapter 9 isn't quite as good as the others.
The second I heard that the Daily Show was putting out a book, I knew I had to have it. It was a question of whether or not I could hold on to Christmas and wait for someone to get it for me. Luckily my friend Megan solved that problem for me by ...

Where More Americans Get Their History Than Probably Should

by Guildencrantz Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 02 '05
Pros: Spearing both political sides, and the American people, this is a great book.
Cons: Jon Stewart doesn't call Tucker Carlson a dick.
I started watching The Daily Show when I went to college in 1998, however it wasn't until Jon Stewart had established himself in the position (fall 1999) that I became addicted. What makes the show so good is the wit and piercing sarcasm that ...

America - F*** Yeah!

by BaronSamedi3 , Apr 28 '07
Pros: It's from The Daily Show!
Cons: Those America-hating, limo liberals!
The exact politics of America: The Book are fairly difficult to pinpoint. It will satisfy flag-waving conservatives with its portrait of America as the flawless land of the free, Hank Hill’s America that can do no wrong. It will also satisfy ...

Learned more about the US than from any other source...

by tecumseh416 , Sep 04 '05
Pros: brilliant sattire, tells more truth than mainstream media, much the same humour as the show
Cons: nothing, I suppose some people might not like the vulgarity, but what do you expect?
...Honestly!!! Politics being my top current interest and my future career and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart being my favourite show at this time, I simply had to have a copy of this book. There is no show quite like Jon Stewart, very view actors can ...

Laughs everywhere

by BBailey182 , Jan 06 '05
Pros: The team of contributors did a brilliant job putting it together.
Cons: Not for the squeamish once in a while.
Who would have thought that a fake textbook would be so popular ... or so good? The crew behind "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" on Comedy Central, that's who. The staff of writers has come up with "America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy ...

Best Textbook Ever Written

by mshepherd6485 , Apr 19 '07
Pros: Comedic material similar to The Daily Show
Cons: Could do without the nude Supreme Court Justices on page 99
I have been a fan of the Daily Show for several years. For a very long time, The Daily Show was my only source of news. I couldn't stand watching other news broadcasts for the simple reason that all of them seem so full of crap. Jon Stewart and all ...

A collection of inaccuracies that will leave laughing from page to page.

by jdgameplayer , Nov 22 '07
Pros: If your into political and historical comedy - you'll love it.
Cons: Some of the joke's and fake facts seemed over-tried and plain.
I'm not going to lie, I read this "textbook" over 2 days. I am an avid fan of the Colbert Report and Daily Show, and thanks to the miracle of the Digital Video Recorder I have yet to miss an episode of either. Whether or not the cast of the Daily ...

Insulting your own country has never been more funny.
by zachtp ,Jan 29 '05
Pros: Textbook-type format, very intelligent humor.
Cons: This book WILL insult republicans.
America (The Book) is the first book ever released by Comedy Central's runaway hit fake news program. Poking tun at the United States, this book is written in textbook form, making it even more side-splitting. Best of all, it is written like they are extremely serious and formal. It's a little bit raunchy at times, but still a great book if you have a great sense of humor any not easily insulted.
