Pros: Wickedly funny. This is the gift for a college student. Cons: Some will find Bierce's ideas far too cynical to give them the time of day. Too bad.

Pros: Wickedly satirical. Cons: Can at times be depressing to the hopelessly optimistic.
The satire in this book, originally named "The Cynic's Word Book" is readily apparent. First heard of this book my freshman year in college, got it two years later.
