Pros: Chicken and Waffles in Oakland. Hooray! Cons: Long lines late at night. Hit or miss service.
444 Embarcadero at Broadway Oakland, CA 94607 I had heard the stories shortly after I moved to the Bay Area. Fried chicken and waffles - side by side - like ebony and ivory. However, thanks to Murphy and his stupid laws, The Chicken and Waffle shop ...

Pros: Very good Fried Chicken; good waffles and side dishes Cons: weak coffee

Pros: Huge portions, especially good if you like mild flavors. Cons: Could use a lot more seasoning to be it's best.

Want the REAL Chicken and Waffles experience ... fly to LA!
by foxyladyoak ,Nov 10 '04
Pros: The only positive thing - the restaurant is down the block from TGI Fridays! Cons: There were so many cons, they probably wouldn't fit here! See the general review.
I have been to The House of Chicken and Waffles twice. I figured the first time I went, the problems I had were a fluke ... not so! My first visit, I was greeted with slow service and cold grits. My second visit, the waitress actually got into an argument with me about why this wasn't anything like Roscoe's! She never came back to check on how our food was. The other gentleman who brought our food was actually talking on the restaurant's cordless phone when he sat the plate down! He asked in between laughs if I wanted jelly but as he never came back with it, I suppose that conversation was too good! I asked the bus boy for some jelly but he could never understand what I was saying. Worst restaurant experience ever! If you want the REAL deal, fly to LA and go to the REAL Roscoe's ... not a knock off!
