    Cons: A few minor implausibility’s

    Pros: Well written
Cons: If you can't get over the winged children, stop reading

Summary: Since there's been a lot of hoopla surrounding James Patterson, I went to the library to check a few of his books out. I picked up "The Lake House", and I couldn't get over the wings. Keep in mind, I love wings. Don't know why, but I do. But when I ... read more

  • A New Favorite Author!

    Jun 30, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Surprisingly good. Refreshingly skillful writing on some difficult story lines. Well done!
Cons: Dr. Kane's twisted experiments are described in grit-your-teeth detail, a bit gross at times.

Summary: I have heard good things about James Patterson's books, and picked up "The Lake House" at the local library during a book sale, not really knowing much about it. I figured Patterson wrote thriller-type stories, from the brief reviews I had skimmed in ... read more

  • It's Easy to Love Bird Children

    Feb 10, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Fast paced, characters you can care about, sensitive, yet exciting.
Cons: Not very realistic, but that didn't bother me.

Summary: First of all, I am going to admit right off the bat that this story was absorbed into my brain through an audio book. I did not put my fingers or eyes to paper. I feel that reading a books audibly is a great way to read books, and pretty much every ... read more

  • The Lake House

    Nov 7, 2005 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Follow-up to Max and the gangs life mildly plausible sci-fiction
Cons: lacking in detail about the experiments, more about how the kids function

Summary: I've been a fan of James Patterson since I first started reading his novels and the Lake House was no exception. The writing style does differ from his usual flair, but indeed it works for the plot and characters themselves. My main objection was ... read more

    Oct 7, 2004 by

Pros: Great read, better than the first...is that possible?
Cons: resurrection seems far fetched , but Patterson makes it sound almost possible

Summary: The Lake House is a sequel to the wonderful When the Wind Blows by James Patterson. I wrote a review on When the Wind Blows and stand by it completely. I received The Lake House, not actually realizing that it was a follow-up on When the Wind Blows, it ... read more

Pros: Great continuation of When The Wind Blows, some great characters, awesome story, surprises galore
Cons: Max and the kids are still annoying characters

Summary: I just got back from a trip to Long Beach, WA and before I went I picked up The Lake House at the library because I didn’t have anything else to read at the time. Well, Long Beach is about three hours from where I live in OR and I began ... read more

  • What A Book

Pros: Made you want to read more.
Cons: There is a story within a story.

Summary: This book is not for anyone that can't stand a story inside a story. I found myself looking forward to a certain part then getting distracted by the inside story. It was my first time reading a book by this author and I would consider reading another. He ... read more

  • New Age Patterson

    Feb 25, 2007 by

Pros: Thrilling! Exciting to the end with plenty of plot twists.
Cons: A little more sci-fi than the Patterson novels I like.

Summary: It was a good book, a more off the wall sci-fi thriller you might say. Coming from a huge Patterson fan, I enjoyed it. Especially after his 1,2,3 series that hooked me to the author to begin with. It was a great novel, well written, easy to follow, ... read more

Pros: Everything was so creative and it was a grabber.
    Cons: None!!!!

Summary: This book was amazing!!! Couldn't put it down. Definitely disagree that it was childish. It would be too gruesome. There was so much thought and imagination as well as creativity put into this novel. I literally read it in three days. Sometimes its nice ... read more

  • Weird. Implausible.

Pros: Everyone is talking about it.
Cons: Not even close to being a good read.

Summary: I really don't understand how these books have done so well. I am a huge fan of the metaphysical, but these two books were like "Flowers in the Attic" meets the "Box Car Children" (remember that series??). The plot and the writing style wouldn't let ... read more

  • Not Patterson's best...

Pros: You get to learn to follow up to first novel.
    Cons: Very abrupt, rushed ending.

Summary: I loved the Patterson's, "When the Wind Blows," this sequel however, just doesn't do the first book justice. The last few chapters are kind of abrupt. It felt as though he hurried the end of the novel. When I reached the climax of the story, I was ... read more

Pros: Will keep your attention if there is nothing else going on.
Cons: A bit strange for Patterson

Summary: Not a typical James Patterson book. If you just have to read his books then by all means purchase this one but don't expect to find Alex Cross lurking in the shadows. I did read the entire book as I was a bit curious what happened to the children. ... read more

  • Lake House

Pros: James Patterson definitely shows his sense of imagination in this book.
Cons: The story seems more like a children's fairy-tale...very unrealistic in my opinion.

Summary: I just recently finished The Lake House and was a little disappointed with the book overall. I have always been a fan of all of James Patterson's books and, normally, admire his work. From the beginning of this book, however, I had trouble keeping with th ... read more
