Pros: Cheap, Light, Comfortable, Compressible, you can't beat price vs. performance Cons: Zipper gets stuck on fabric, can be a pain
The North Face Thunderhead 3D ~Introduction- Can't afford a down sleeping bag? Can't afford the super advanced synthetic bag that compresses to the size of a softball? Buy the North Face Thunderhead 3D made with industry trusted ...
Pros: very light, warm, packs tight Cons: zipper sticks
This bag has quite a few attributes. It packs very small I think is simply perfect for three season backpacking. It rolls into a tiny bundle that I hardly even notice at the bottom of my pack. It is extremely light, a definite advantage on longer...
Pros: Lightweight, Cheap, Durable, one of the better bags in its price range Cons: The Zipper gets stuck to the fabric
The North Face Thunderhead 3D sleeping bag is probably one of the best sleeping bags within its price range of under $100 dollars for a sleeping bag designed for its lowest temperature at 20 degrees. The best thing about this sleeping bag is that its...
Pros: Packs tightly, seems to be warm, comfortable Cons: Zipper gets stuck.
The Thunderhead sleeping bag is a good bag for backpacking and canoeing. It is light, 3lbs and packs down quite small, 8"X17". It comes in a box that is much larger than what it will pack down to because they don't want it smashed for so long. As a...
Pros: Durability, roominess, comfort, dryness Cons: Zipper tends to slip
I camp in northern Ontario every summer. After I got fed up with my bulky, chilly LL Bean bag, I got this North Face after I saw it on sale. (Note: Sleeping bags can almost ALWAYS be bought for less on sale.)
Pros: Comfortable bag with well-designed zipper and hood. Cons: No cons yet, time will tell.
I bought my Thunderhead 3D mostly because I saw it on sale on the Internet at too good a price to pass up. This season in New England has been very strange, months of unseasonably warm temps followed by weeks of extremely cold temps (too cold for me to...
Pros: Roomy, Warm Cons: Not the best for extreme cold
This sleeping bag is one of the best sleeping bags you can get for your money. I’m a boy scout and I haven’t been happier on those cold nights since I got my thunderhead sleeping bag. This sleeping bag keeps you warmer than down even when wet. The...
Great Bag, Unbelievable price! by troop17 ,Oct 05 '04
Pros: Warm and dry. Easy find zipper pull. Excellent zipper and head baffle/tubes. Cons: Zipper catches fabric if not careful. Not on the market anymore.
I bought a couple of these when my local store closed them out for $25 a piece. I put them away and remembered them when I took a 5-day backpacking trek across the Pecos Wilderness this year. The bag kept me warm despite sub-freezing temperatures and the provided stuff sack kept the bag dry when strapped to my external frame pack. Outstanding maneuverability when in the bag.
