  • The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same

    Oct 06 '00
Pros: Wonderful building novel, adds to the future stories
Cons: Ignored many core characters while bringing more new ones in

Summary: "The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass..." These words have been at the start of each of the eight volumes of this series, with exception of the prologue. This phrase remains true to the entire series, since each volume opens secrets ... read more

  • Slow, but sharp.

    Jun 27 '01
Pros: It's a 'Wheel of Time' novel.
Cons: It's not the LAST 'Wheel of Time' novel.

Summary: "The wheel of time turns, and ages come and pass...". So begins each book of the 'Wheel of Time' series of epic fantasy by Robert Jordan. Let me tell you something - all of this turning is getting me dizzy. The fact of the matter ... read more

  • Book eight, a nice step back to greatness.

    Dec 07 '00
Pros: Excellent story, great character development.
Cons: Ends rather suddenly, leaves you hanging.

Summary: Book eight of the Wheel of time series, is, in my opinion one of the best in the series. I would have to put it at my third favorite as of now. Books one, The Eye of the World, and book two, The Great Hunt, are still my favorites, but book eight, The ... read more

  • What is the point?

    Sep 11 '00
Pros: The plot, albeit slowly, moves further; a lot of political games for those who like them; more facts about channeling are revealed; glimpses of returning characters that were thought dead.
Cons: Extremely slow plot advancement, mainstay characters appear very briefly or not at all; too many unresolved plotlines.

Summary: By starting this review I should point out I am far from a casual reader for this series; I've followed Robert Jordan's massively successful (and just as massive in scope) series for years, reading opinions, FAQs and articles on various aspects of the ... read more

  • Wheel of Time

    Sep 09 '00
Pros: Political intrigue in a Science fiction setting
Cons: Can't put down reading and at least 600 page books

Summary: Many people complain that Robert Jordan repeats the same tale over and over in this series. However, I beg to differ. The intrigue and political nuances make the stories rich and attention grabbing. To fully understand what happened ... read more

  • I give up!

    Jul 26 '00
Pros: Epic fantasy on a grand scale
Cons: Characters act childish at times, even vindictively, when they are supposed to be friends

Summary: I've given up trying to guess at when Robert Jordan will end his series The Wheel of Time. This is his eighth book and still no end in sight. The Path of Daggers documents the reinvasion by the Seanchan and Rand's attempt to push them back. I did enjoy ... read more

  • Best Series Ever, Intermediary Book

    Jul 09 '00
    Pros: Furthers the plot, well-written
    Cons: No huge, momentous climax

Summary: Path of Daggers is the eighth book in Robert Jordan's fantasy series "The Wheel of Time." This series is far and away the finest fantasy series ever written, and that includes the oft-deified "Lord of the Rings." The amazingly ... read more

  • Overview of The Wheel of Time

    Jul 03 '00
Pros: great detail, characters, plot, you get drawn right in
Cons: some may consider the books a tad long...

Summary: The entire Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is shaping out to be the best fantasy epic ever. Jordan began with "The Eye of the World" and started a novel epic that is will outlast every other book in the genre. The other books in the ... read more

  • I have never wanted to inflict pain on someone so bad...

    Apr 12 '00
    Pros: Just the next book
    Cons: Just about everything

Summary: Ok. After reading this book, I want to say: I have never wanted to inflict pain on someone so badly. I suppose that I will address this as an open letter to Robert Jordan, and all "rabid" fans out there. I was ... read more

  • Humm? Does this Book have a point?

    Jan 28 '00
Pros: You learn a little bit more about Jordan's World and his characters.
Cons: At the end you feel disappointed. It just doesn't feel like reading the book was worth it.

Summary: This book is the ninth book of Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series but does it really further the story? Nope! The things that happen in this book could have been said with a lot less words. There wasn't much action. There was no major conflict. ... read more

  • Exciting!

    Jan 27 '00
    Pros: exciting, full of suspense

Summary: I loved The Path of Daggers by Robert Jordan. Each page was so full of suspense and excitement that I couldn't put it down! Robert Jordan uses great detail to help the reader visualize the characters and the scene that is taking place. He is so ... read more

  • Let it never end!

    Jan 25 '00
Pros: Excellent writing style and ongoing plotlines.
    Cons: Too long between books!

Summary: I read the first Wheel of Time book on someone's recommendation 2 years ago. I forced myself to wait for this one to come out in paperback to read it. I'm glad I did, because now I'll have less time to wait for the next book to come out! This ... read more

  • Does the Wheel End?

    Jan 09 '00
Pros: A necessary read for the series
Cons: A little lackluster and stale

Summary: Will it ever end? This epic saga (and I do mean epic) is one of the best in the fantasy genre. Starting with Eye of the World and continuing on through this latest addition I have been ensnared in this world created by Robert Jordan. I await each new ... read more

  • A Tangled Web He Weaves

    Dec 24 '99
Pros: Necessary details, old faces, new plots
Cons: MIA characters, a little long, a chore to get through

Summary: *WARNING!* If one is unfamiliar with the Wheel of Time series, or has not read all of the preceding books PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO READ THIS BOOK! As much as I love Jordan's writings, I many times found myself lost and having to refer to the previous ... read more
