"The People Could Fly" was a amazing book about magical African people who had the abilites and powers to fly. What happens in the books is these magical people are captured to become slaves over seas. The people decide to keep it a secret that they are magical. They end up in a cotten field, which they tend to non-stop. One woman named Sarah, has a baby with her that she has to take to the fields when she works. One day, a man they call the Master comes with another they call Driver. Her whips the people with a crop. When he hits Sarah to make her go faster she runs to a man known as the Father. "Oh Father!" she crys. "They are hurtin us and we can't work no more!" Then he whispers in her ear a chant and she begins to drift off the ground and into the sky.
