The Other Side of Tupac

by sj1and0 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jan 09 '05
Pros: Tupac Shakur was an extraordinarily expressive and creative writer with passion and poetically illustrative personality
Cons: A lot of his poems are depressing in the first half.
Tupac Shakur, the hard core rapper that we all knew had a sensitive side. He was also a poet who wrote with lyrical force, attitude, vibrance and a plethora of emotions. Now don't get me wrong, in my opinion rappers write poetry, but more like spoken ...

Naming The Rose: Tupac the Poet

by wrdnik3 , Oct 24 '06
Pros: shows a developing artist with incredible talent
Cons: annoyingly formatted; good but not spectacular
I don't remember where I was the day that Tupac Amaru Shakur died, aged twenty-five. I didn't even really know he'd been alive until he was long gone. Sometime after his death I became old enough to appreciate his work, and the legendary status he'd ...

Pros: the purest of poetry in the rarest form from a "thug".
Cons: none at all
In the Autobiographical, “The Rose That Grew from the Concrete” by Tupac Shakur we see his outlook on life through his poetry. There are some more intriguing poems that stuck in my mind. The book starts off with a poem that obviously has much ...

Pros: Simply amazing - his words seize your heart, soul, & mind.
Cons: 2 Short! I still want more!
Tupac is certainly not your average "thug". When you look past the "Thug Life" and foul language, many of his lyrics had a way of reaching out and touching people from every different race and status. Whether you liked him or not, agreed or disagreed...

Cons: Too bad there isn't any more books from Tupac like this.
If your a Tupac fan, this would be a great book to read. This book of poetry lets you look in on Tupacs life experiences, feelings, emotions, thought, ideas, creativity, and his life. Tupac has so much music out that people can listen to, but if you want to want to know more about Tupac, then this is a great book for you. Some poems in this book are about females that he dated in his life. He describes his love, pain, experiences, and other feelings for the women that was in his life. Tupac also writes about his life growing up dealing with racism, gangs, drugs, and violence in the world where he grew up. He expresses his feelings towards certain things in life like poverty, the government, and his mother. These poems are very deep and when you read them you can feel and understand what he is trying to express. reading these poems, maybe you can relate to these poems or know someone who can relate. This is a great book and if you are a Tupac fan, this book would be a pleasure to read.
