Does your carpet have liver spots? I prescribe The Rug Doctor

by trailhound Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jul 08 '06
Pros: Pretty easy to use. It really works - carpets looked much better.
Cons: Cost of cleaning solutions. Time consuming. Carpet will be wet for several hours after cleaning.
I had been thinking of re-carpeting my home. However, when I got a quote on installing about 1,000 square feet of new carpet, I almost had a stroke! Plan "B" was to only re-carpet part of the house, and try to steam clean the rest, in hopes that it would ...

Just What the Doctor Ordered

by Bruguru Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Oct 14 '05
Pros: Inexpensive, cleans great.
Cons: A lot of work.
We all know the feeling. Those precious carpets of ours so pristine and beautiful. It almost seems a shame to walk on them after all, but we know we have to. We can demand everyone take their shoes off at the door, banish snacks and drinks from the ...

Real Results

by faithforever Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Sep 16 '07
Pros: Fresh, like new carpet
Cons: there is a bit of work involved:)
Dogs are amazing creatures who become more than a best friend. They actually demonstrate all of the basic elements of a baby or young child except for the fact that you don’t need Pampers, pacifiers or formula. Well, actually, I have had dogs who I ...

Rug Doctor - Your prescription for clean carpets! (ha, that was cheesy)

by jkafer Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Sep 15 '06
Pros: Cleans the carpet well, inexpensive to rent, optional furniture attachment
Cons: Doesn't heat water, the schmuck who rented it before might have left it dirty
Small children ruin everything. This destruction comes from shoes, food, drinks, and various body fluids that the children are not supposed to spill. The main target of this abuse is usually the carpet. When we bought our house, we got cheap carpet. ...

Close to a "Professional Clean"

by bennyzmom2 , Nov 08 '08
Pros: Cleans the deepest stains and traffic areas, even on white carpet.
Cons: You have to do the work yourself and it's too expensive to buy one.
Now granted, you have to do the work yourself, but the results will amaze you. I'm kind of kicking myself because I bought a Hoover duel V that literally fell apart within a year (light/occassional usage-various plastic pieces simply broke, without any ...

by aztrainer , Jan 04 '07
Pros: Awesome Cleaner, Power, Flexibility, Ease of usage
Cons: Carpet stay wet for some time, Expensive solutions
I want to start off by saying that I saw the infomercial at about 2:00am when I could not sleep. My family is getting ready to sell our house and our carpets are really bad with any stains and spills from the last seven years. I have had a professional ...

A lot of HARD WORK...and sparkly clean CARPETS!

by bablondie25 , Jul 29 '07
Pros: IT WORKS and without problems, easy to use, affordable to rent.
Cons: The numerous trips you will make to keep refilling the tank.
Phew, where do I start? First off, our carpets have not been cleaned in 2.5 years, we have 1 toddler, 1 preteen, and a cat. Not to mention, I also watch another toddler and our carpets are beige (you know that cheap apartment type carpet?) So they ...

Rog Doctor Pro, I'm Happy with it.

by flintrock , Dec 08 '07
Pros: Light weight, easy to use, cleans very well, left carpet very dry.
Cons: Preferred wide model, but price difference too great. Cord is stiff.
For many years, I used to rent a Castex carpet cleaning machine from the local tool rental place. The owner used to give a good deal, pick-up friday afternoon, return early monday morning, and only charged one day's rental. Then he got greedy, started ...

Pros: Gets tough stains out, even the ones you don't know are there.
Cons: The soap can be costly. The machine may leave carpet a little damp.
I actually bought the Rug Doctor. Yes, it was the infomercial. I have two dogs. I shampoo my carpet fairly frequently. I love carpet and am willing to deal with the maintenance of keeping the carpet clean. I have gone through two regular carpet ...

First Aid for your Carpets

by Khokhonut , Sep 01 '07
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Cost if buying
I just bit the bullet and bought a Rug Doctor Mighty Pro. They can be quite spendy, but I figured it would pay for itself in 2 uses compared to the cost of professional carpet cleaning. I also had a coupon, and the store was offering a promotion that ...

A Germ-o-phobes take on the Rug Doctor

by first_lsk , Oct 07 '07
Pros: -- Best cleaning machine -- True one pass maintenance cleaning -- Quality construction
Cons: -- Price
In the past 11 years, I have owned 2 Hoover steam-vac machines and 3 Bissell Pro-Heat machines. A few days ago, the dog had an accident in the house and when I pulled out the Bissell to clean it up, the bladder inside the tank sprung a leak. I stopped ...

Just rented the Rug Doctor: carpets are wet

by heatherwilson , Jul 29 '06
Pros: RENTAL $25+cost of soap (make your own); Available at many stores
Cons: Rental machines are dirty! Mediocre performance Leaves carpets wet
I watched the infomercial, so when it came time to clean the carpets, I had 3 choices: A) professional service, B) rent the Rug Doctor for DIY, or C) buy a carpet cleaner for the DIY. Because of the infomercial showing the superior suction of the Rug ...

Love this product - will never pay for "professional" cleaning again!

by dlebaron , Feb 25 '08
Pros: superior cleaning, ability to clean anything and everything fabric, affordable rental price
Cons: expensive to buy, large/heavy
I have been a devotee of Stanley Steemer in the past. I like a clean floor (it's kind of an obsession of mine, I'll admit). Anyway, with 3 kids, 2 cats, and a husband my beige carpets take a beating. So, I used to pay several hundred dollars a year ...

A Consumer Product that Actually Works, and Quite Well

by kansasbobaloo , May 26 '09
Pros: Better than a professional cleaning.
Cons: A little pricey if you buying one, but still, worth the money.
I have rented a rug doctor for years, usually every six months, to clean my carpets.  Three years ago, I took a break from my law practice to care for my elderly father, since I couldn't bring myself to put him in a nursing home.  He ...
