Pros: Generally good songs, intriguing mix of styles Cons: Mix of styles doesn't always work, high-pitched vocals not for everyone
My personal relationship with Coheed and Cambria is a short, yet somewhat storied one. When first I bought their second album, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, I was left somewhat surprised by the hype in the punk/emo community surrounding ...
I am going to warn you right now: this is not going to be a very thorough review of Coheed & Cambria's "Second Stage Turbine Blade." I simply do not know enough about the band or the sci-fi storyline slated to progress over four more albums. From what ...
Pros: Unique, great vocals Cons: Vague story-based lyrics, some songs drag a little
It's a post-apocolyptic world. The Keyword that binds the solar system together is breaking apart. A serum has been injected into Coheed, allowing the device in his heart, known as Monstar, to come loose and give him the power to destroy the universe. ...
Pros: Great vision, musicianship, and one of the most original acts of our generation. Cons: The 'prog-rock' label they've been stuck with, but they rock nonetheless.
Okay, so I am a hardcore "emo" fan. By this I mean my girlfriend just recently (six months ago) dumped me and I've been torturing myself listening to songs I shouldn't be listening to. I can't help... It's my prerogative. Anyway, I bought an AP magazine ...
Few people have even heard the bands name. Many wouldn't even know how to say it! If you are lucky enough to find someone who does know who they are, they are sure to tell you that this band rocks more than anyone in music right now.
Pros: Just the right touch of hard rock to make it an instant classic Cons: sounds like a common first album (as expected), distortion on one song(?)
People can tell how far an artist has come musically by comparing their first album to their later albums. The Second Stage Turbine Blade is no exception. I got this album as a gift from my (now ex) boyfriend for my birthday. I have been a Coheed and ...
Pros: Unlike anything you've ever heard. Completely Amazing. Cons: None that are big enough to count against this album.
Josh Eppard is the drummer for a band called "Coheed and Cambria." I am a drummer myself, and Josh is by far the most influential to my drumming style. He plays open-handed style with a fierce energy you have to see to believe. He is so unique that I can ...
Pros: They are artists, and it shows Cons: The songs can seem lengthy at times
I am going to be honest here and say that I am pretty new to Coheed and Cambria, and that before last week I didn’t even know who they were. A friend of mine recommended them to me knowing these three things about me, I like all music, I am a sci-fi ...
Pros: Well-written music with an intriguing storyline. Cons: The storyline can be confusing at first, especially if you don't have the comic.
The Second Stage Turbine Blade is the first album out from Coheed & Cambria, and part 2 of a 4-album set. The album starts out with the instrumental of the same name, and quickly follows into some twisted imagery in the lyrics of some beautifully written songs. What really draws me to The Second Stage Turbine Blade is that there is a story to the whole album - and a comic book that goes along with it, in fact! This does have its downside, though - the album starts on part 2 of the story, as does the comic, leaving listeners and to a lesser extent readers confused as to the events leading up to the occurrences in the story. If you buy this album, as I recommend any fan of rock and science-fiction should do, then I also recommend hunting down the comic book, also titled The Second Stage Turbine Blade. You may also want to get the second album (part 3 of the story), title In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3.
