Pros: VERY light. Easy to adjust. Quality construction and reliability.
Cons: Ritchey (side by side adjustment) is the fastest and easiest. Thompson is a close 2nd.
Purchased new off Ebay for $99. I've had Thompsons before and always have liked them. Recently bought my "dream bike" (Litespeed Vortex) and thought it deserved the top shelf. This was only $30 more than the Elite so I bit the bullet. HOLY COW is this thing light. Rather than making sacrifices that will affect strength, however, Thomson uses more expensive machining to do the trimming. The result is a solid billet (one piece) lower unit and a post that is lighter and stronger than all comers. To me, carbon is a great material for many things, but overrated for seat posts. One of the biggest problems is the tendency to snap and leave a sharp spike. Yikes. The adjustment mechanism is also very good, allowing infinite adjustments. There is also a marker gauge which is handy.
